As someone who played chicken smoothie, paperclip challenges were one of my biggest pet peeves. Major support. This is literally a loophole to beg in TC. As for the concerns raised about other, legitimate trades that may contain low amounts of currency, they could be protected by simply adding a rule that no form of paperclip challenges may be conducted through TC, rather, they should be done through forums. Blocking the creators of these trades does nothing. More pop up, and the block doesnt even carry over to my side...

I disagree. First of all, there's really no way to manage this that won't cause issues for those who *arent* attempting the challenge.

Second, it's totally legit. You're offering 1sb for anything anybody is willing to give you for 1sb. If someone decides to give them an IBF for 1sb, that's their choice. You just can't dictate the market and say "nothing is worth 1sb" because worth is subjective.

I grant that many have unrealistic expectations of getting a high value item for just 1sb, but others are simply attempting the "Bobby pin to a house" style of trading which plays off of subjective value of items. After all, if you don't like the trades, don't interact with them. Theoretically they'll stop if nobody gets anything from them.

I think a better way to fix this issue is not to ban then, but to add more ways to filter in the basic trade list with minimum values, key words, etc

read the other comments on the thread, those trades are flooding TC and making it hard to find actual trades. you block one person who does it and three more pop up, its extremely spammy and borderline begging

I’m aware. I frequent the TC and know how common they are. Like I said, there isn’t much Lioden can or will do to restrict those types of trades, and a better way to fix this issue and other potential similar problems would be better fixed and managed by a filter. It is spammy, because its a trend, that’s how trends work. And again, the only way to get them to completely stop, is if nobody gets anything from them. Don’t entertain them, and people will stop posting them.

As for begging, some people are asking for ridiculous trades such as multi-gb valued items for 1sb, but others are legitimately attempting to trade up. 1sb trades do not categorize as begging in the definition that Lioden uses, and is therefore not against the rules.

People seemed to have realised, through, that through this method, they can get more valuable items by barely lifting a finger; and its incredibly annoying for people who work hard to understand economy, breed, etc, to have TC clogged up by these repetitive, spammy trades trying to get easy money. It's literally in the name; trading center. It's not for challenges.

It isn't creative. It isn't new. It's been done before, outside of lioden. Like I mentioned before, I've played other online web games where this "challenge" was like the plague. It was so frequent that the most common message in bios was "Paperclip challenges = blocked." The very first guy who did it, that *was* a challenge, as he wanted to see how far he could get with a paperclip. This though? It's pure laziness. Most people doing this want easy money, quick.

I don't even think everyone here wants them banned outright, just kept out of TC. At this rate, the people making these trades will be blocked by half of the playerbase, but... that's on them I guess. No water off my back.

For some people who do that challenge they actually get shit somehow, which good for them I guess? But why in the TC? Why not forums, which is exactly the place for games?

I personally have never done the 1 SB challenge or anything akin to it, and maybe I'm missing something, like whatever is fun about it, but I have never once paid actual money on Lioden and I am lucky enough to have a handful of hybrids and lions that are considered valuable on the site by other players. You CAN get valuables in Lioden with enough patience, a bit of work, and some luck without mild or outright begging. It's difficult, but there isn't a paywall preventing you from getting what you want in this game. If you want to play a game, take it to forums, it's that easy, like gifting wars. I have participated in gifting wars through forums and it works just fine there. Not everyone will listen of course, and some people like to do it just because it gets people riled up, but they can still have their game and not disrupt a main function of Lioden just by moving it somewhere else.

I can't fully support this thread because as I previously explained it'd be impossible to enforce a ban on 1 SB trades fairly for the moderators. But I 100% agree, the 1 SB and similar trades are very, very obstructive and a hassle to sort through, and could easily be moved elsewhere for people who actually want to participate.

I mean, if you want a hybrid/whatever, put your back into it. This challenge won't get you that. Sell base apps or whatever like the rest of us. Save up. It is easier in the end, and goes faster. I'm in the process of saving up for a gon/pon or DU myself. You're not entitled to get one from a "challenge"

I do not think this is begging. I get that it clutters all the actually normal trades and is probably the most annoying thing in the world, but if people want to do that let them. The point is, if nobody actually offers on them they'll go away. No point getting worked up over a bunch of pixel animals now, is there?

For the "makes it hard to find actual trades" argument, no it does not. The search option is there for a reason, while I understand the "it‘s against tos" arguments, this reallyy is a dumb one. As well as those who argue that "it‘s annoying" as well, i have to say this: So just because you find something annoying means it should just be gone? Lets say you‘re annoyed by fodder trades, does that mean they should be gone, too? No.

"It clutters the tc." First of all, how? The TC is already cluttered with nonsense trades and stuff, so why does that matter?

Aside from personal frustrations, the issue is its relation to how close it runs to begging. As Thalath mentioned previously, "paperclip trades" are a trend that have been identified as begging/veiled begging in similar games and have been moderated accordingly in those games. This suggestion is simply asking for the same to be considered here.

In terms of the arguement of "ignore them and theyll go away", if moderation used that logic there wouldnt be rules against begging in general.

It's really, really, really, really, really, really not that hard for people to take their games to the place that is dedicated for games and challenges on this game, aka the forum games forum, instead of using the TC for something it is not supposed to be used for. Not to mention it's literally veiled begging and I can't see how anyone thinks it's not.


Also to your "it's annoying" argument, yes. The difference in your example is that fodder actually has a purpose, unlike the 1sb challenge trades. Fodder can be used for gorilla enclave or karma farming so those lions are actually WORTH SOMETHING unlike the 1sb trades that are just children trying to beg for high value items instead of actually working for them.

Yeah, I haven't seen the trades as rampantly overtaking the TC like it was the last few weeks, but still. The search option is really not something to rely on. It isn't that great, I keyword for something specific and end up with trades that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for.
