I, personally, don't support this. Yes, they can flood the TC, but it's a fun concept. You start with a low worth object, and go up the trading status. Here and there, I've even seen people give away their final item! A simple prevention could even be just ignoring them, and not participating in them.

the thing is, it's nigh impossible to ignore them when they're so prevalent, especially for someone like me who is ND. which isn't necessarily anyone's problem but mine, but telling people to ignore them isn't really useful and sort of ignores some of the bigger issues, which is that it's mass clutter especially when it's just the joke shit and can push out genuine trades.

as for the game portion,,, there's a whole forum for games. or giveaways. or items. they don't need to clog TC.

At the end of the day moderators delete non-trade messages from sales chat and request they move elsewhere to talk, play or whatever because it gets in the way of the thing the chat was designed for. Imo it follows the same logic that jokes and games shouldn't be part of trade centre because it gets in the way of, y'know, trading.

If you want these trades removed. Then removing the option to have offers on trades would have to be removed. Because honestly, i have seen 1 to many players offer 10x less of a items worth on trades. Like the other day, I was offered 100 SB, 2 dirty non-special lions and a African Cucumber on a mutie i had up for offers.

So if those joke trades should be removed then having items up for offers should be as well. Since there is also a Forum for that as well.

So in all reality that just makes it 10 times harder to sell things/trade things. As you would only then be able to put items/lions/beetles up for currency. Which would clog the tc even more because there will be trades up for 10x more than what they are worth because someone wanted to try and get offers.

honeynectar, there are 2 on the front page as I type this. the currency filter is flooded with them. they are extremely prolific. i said myself my condition wasn't anyone's problem but my own; you're sounding really aggressive right now.

i would browse tc out of boredom and the desire to buy, not for anything specific, not for anything that needed "searched up." but in general browsing. the joke sb trades push genuine trades off the first pages that someone is gonna see, and like I said, people like my friend are being dissuaded from participating from a core part of the game by all the "jokes."

I think the crux of this point, though, is what jenday said. inappropriate usage of the sales chat is moderated because sales chat is for advertising. trading center is for trading. not jokes or challenges.

shadow, i don't think i even understand what you're saying. because we're asking for people to stop putting up joke 1sb trades and maybe by extension take the 1sb challenge to forums,,,, that offering on trades should be completely banned?

It's a strawman argument. Offering junk on trades doesn't clutter the TC because realistically the only person who will see that is the person putting up the trade. It doesn't apply to the main problem behind 1 SB trades.

The TC exists to trade, not for games or challenges. Meanwhile there exists forum spaces for both trading and games. One of these is not like the other.

There are trades that have currency that is never accepted. I have seen anywhere from 1 SB to 1000 GB and sometimes even more. Those trades clutter up the TC as well.

From how I am understanding this suggestion, the thought of trades being cluttered cause the real trades to be buried in reality. You are having a problem with a game that is centered around trades. People offer on the item being traded and then the person can accept the trade. How is that not a trade?

It is also being stated that those types of trades should be outlawed, you are asking for another rule to be put into place to keep others for playing their game the way that they want. Would it be fair to ask for trades that offer 1000 GB for things to be outlawed because they are never accepted and just sit there for 30 days with nothing happening. What about the trades that are done on frozen accounts that don't have offers accepted.

Maybe instead of outlawing trades have a trade block system put into place. Something where you can put keywords to keep from being brought up when searched. Like the following: "What can I Get?" or "1 SB for offers" or something along those lines.

Asking for one thing to be outlawed is just going to allow for others to request for more things to be outlawed.

we're just asking folks to stop having jokes in trading center and to take their challenges elsewhere.

1000gb is actually worth something that people can offer on. expensive lions, bulk of breeding items, etc.. its not clutter. its a genuine trade. trades on frozen accounts are set up so very valuable lions don't unnecessarily age. its not the freezer's fault if they're not bought out.

that's a slippery slope argument. asking for people to not play games in trading center ain't gonna lead to a wasteland of strict rules.

The slippery slope argument doesn't really apply here imo, not least because it's already an existing rule in Code of Conduct not to use game features in ways they're not intended to be used.

Which is arguably exactly what this suggestion is about. So all people are asking for is for that existing rule to be applied here.

Low offers on trades is a completely separate issue and not something that's related to this suggestion or something that the vast majority of people have a major problem with. Not least because you can already set trades to be buyout only, if you don't want to deal with potential lowballs.

Whereas clearly the point here about challenge/joke/game trades is something the majority do object to, because look at the yes vs. no votes on this thread. There are currently 11x as many supports as there are no supports, which pretty much speaks for itself.

Clans or forum threads would be much better suited for this kind of game or challenge between players, because they're intended for social stuff - unlike the TC.

I would just like to pop back in to say that implementing some sort of filter to block out these trades that the majority of people find distaste with (as seen in the support ratio) is something that would take a lot more time and effort on the lioden team (probably months of coding because (no offense to the team) they are slow, which would just allow the problem to perpetuate for longer). It would just be easier for the mods to say "hey don't do this, put it in a forum" or whatever and the problem be solved.

@leon: oh no I agree with you - I meant their argument that it would turn into more and more removals isn't really plausible to me in this instance, because I think there's a pretty obvious line between reasonable trades and spammy ones. Sorry, should have phrased my agreement more clearly! <3
