For the past 2 months Nikos had noticed the scent of lions increased, at first she assumed that the lions from before actually had a pride but the other scents were far weaker compared to the first lions. Nikos dreaded what that meant, cubs... Cubs were trouble, hell she had 5 brothers back at home. Even worse than that, cubs attracted other predators whether big or small, those rascals could even lead humans here. Growling softly, Nikos scampered up a tree making sure to be as high up as she could. Once high enough, she focused her attention to herds. She needed to get her mind off this.

Ronan & Vera|Lyla, Rory, & Nire

Vera didn't protest when she was being washed. But Ronan didn't seem happy, looking back outside, "I don't care about some stinky birds! They're too scared of us mighty lions!" He began growling, attacking the air, before looking at his brother and attacking him playfully. Vera laughed, "Quite getting dirty Ronan! I want to go back outside!" Ronan stopped for a split moment to stick his tongue out at his sister, before going back to wrestling. Vera rolled her eyes, before looking at the dark colored lioness, "Hi Auntie Nire!" She exclaimed (If they don't call her auntie or you don't want them to you can ignore the auntie part)

Location - Den | Company - Lyla's pride -> Hunting


Nire's return to sleep was short lived when the herd of biters were persuaded back into the den. Another big stretch, spreading her beans, she eventually propped herself up. Licking her dry mouth sleepily, she shrugged at Lyla's question. Can't live with them or without them. They were ever so annoying but, luckily for them, very cute. If they weren't cute she couldn't imagine why any sensible lioness would have any.

Getting up as Lyla worked on cleaning the raffle, Nire stretched and lazily walked out of the den. I'll be back in awhile. Going to see if any of that rhino is left. I'll bring some back for yah. Rubbing against the rocks to scratch an itch she padded off toward the water hole. Carefully picking the least muddy spot to go she drank her fill and have the water a good look. Wouldn't be long until they would have to move to greener pastures. Luckily it seemed that the cubs would be big enough by then that they wouldn't need to find another den and would be able to be nomadic until next wet season. After all, as it got drier the herds would be constantly on the move and so should they.

It was quite a ways to the rhino, they had not caught such a prey themselves, it was simply not possible for two lionesses. It seemed to have died on its own and brought all kinds of predators to the area. Nire lay poised to pounce in the grasses, watching a striped jackal cautiously sneak a meal between all of the vultures. Snarling soundlessly she crawled through the tall grass on soft paws into ambush distance. Rolling her shoulders she charged, grabbing the jackal in her paws. The jackal screamed loudly, biting at her face and she roared to terrify the absolute snot out of it. Between all the vultures taking off, the roar and and screaming jackal, there was quite the commotion at the carcass. Even the herds nearby got restless from the noise.

Though it likely seemed forever for the jackal, it eventually flailed out of her claws and ran away, tail tucked and screaming. Nire laid there spitting jackal fur from her teeth before she got up and waltzed over to the carcass. Most of the good stuff was gone but there was plenty of edible flesh left, well enough for her to gorge herself and bring back what she could carry for Lyla and the cubs.

Nikos groaned at the sound of yelling and snarling, looking down from her perch she noticed it was one of the lionesses. Her tail flicked, it was quite hilarious to see the other lioness scare the poor jackal. She watched as the little thing ran off, she switched her attention back to the lioness. Nikos slowly maneuvered herself finally in a good position she leaped off the tree, wincing a little as she landed, that was a lot more pain than she expected. She confidently strode over to the large carcass, letting out a loud roar once she arrived.

Lyla | 3 years, 6 months | Bi | Mentions: Nire and cubs

She nodded at her friend. She missed those few weeks when it had just been the two of them, but now there were hungry mouths to feed. She tried not to shrug the responsibility onto Nire, but every once in a while she would take some time to herself.

After cleaning all of the cubs she smiled softly at them. “Are you ready?” She looked at the anxious cubs. “It’s time to go, and remember, I can’t carry all of you, but I will walk slowly for you.” She gave each of them a lick on the head. Bringing the cubs out was exciting, but anything could happen to them. She stepped out of the den, inviting the cubs to follow.

Ronan & Vera|Lyla & Ronan (Question-Lylas still pregnant?)

Ronan and Vera ran behind their mother excitingly, tripping over their paws and eachother. At one point, Ronan slapped Vera, and the two leaped at eachother, wrestling abit before finally snapping back and following their mom, "Finally! It's been so long!" Ronan whispered to his siblings.

Location - Rhino carcass | Company - Stranger (Nikos)


Nire banged her head on the solid hip bone as she shot her head out of the carcass at the sound of an unknown roar. A piece of loin dangling from her teeth she growled from the pain on her head. Quickly looking around she locked eyes with the lion that announced himself and her ears instantly went flat against her head. Chewing slowly she stepped away from the carcass she casually broke eye contact to look around for any others with him. She didn't see anyone but that didn't mean much.

It was one to meet a male wandering but they were not ones to share a meal with strangers so her decision to leave was an easy one. She wasn't hungry enough to fight for it and could always come back later when the male was gone. Swishing her tail she bowed her head to concede the prize to the male and moved away. Of course, not back towards the den, that would be a death sentence to the biters. Once she was well enough away she would warn Lyla by calling and to keep herself from leading the male back.

He tumbled after the other cubs and bit Ronan’s ankle. “So we get to go to the watering hole?!” He pranced in front of their mother excitedly.

Using a paw, she pushed Rory behind her. “Stay behind me little one. And yes, but not too close now. And if there is any danger yell for me and get under me. Nire can also protect you if we happen upon her.” She was already stressing having them out, but it needed to be done. She lead them in the direction of the watering hole, but stopped a little ways away by some trees.

Nikos narrowed her eyes at the other lioness, it was quite odd that they were banging their head on bones. She could see them deep in thought it was like reading an open book, but Nikos decided not to engage with them. She wasn't stupid, even she knew it would be stupid to fight them after all there was more than one lioness. Once Nikos couldn't see the lioness anymore, she started ripping up the carcass her large claws easily tearing through its flesh.

Location - Grasslands | Company - Alone, sending a stranger warning to Lyla


Nire stretched, digging her claws into a Marula, feeling satisfied by the flaking of bark and tearing of fiber. It was a shame that she couldn't get a some food for Lyla and that she couldn't return for awhile. It was going to be boring spending time away from the biters, especially since they were now able to wander a bit. With a final stretch he stepped down from the tree and grabbed a fallen fruit from the tree.

Padding her way over to a decent vantage point she flopped over and gnawed on the soft flesh, crunching on the seed inside. Spitting out the seed she awkwardly ate the tart fruit while scanning out over the land. She couldn't see the den or any notable landmarks near it but she knew a roar could carry quite a ways. For a moment she laid there with her tongue sticking out, shivering from a particular sour piece of the fruit. Once recovered she opened her mouth wide and let out a loud and low roar. The lower the better as low sounds traveled much farther than high ones. Hopefully, Lyla would get the message that there was a stranger in the territory.

Her head shot up at the sound of a familiar roar, a warning. She gathered the cubs together. “It’s time to go.” She picked up Vera and mumbled to the other two, “Comme alo-“ she set her down. “Come along now boys.” She let out a low roar back to Nire, hoping she was loud enough, but also hoping she wouldn’t attract any danger. Picking Vera back up she nudged the two boys back in the direction of the den. She would keep them in front of her for now.

He grumbled in protest. “But be just got here!” He dragged his feet along as slow as he could. “Why does Vera get to be carried? I’m tiiiiiired!” he exclaimed to his mother.

Nikos's ears flicked, the low roars were definitely heard by her or possibly other predators as well. Was it the lioness from before? Were they warning their friend about her? She didn't expect it to be this much trouble to make herself known, then again she did smell cubs nearby. Getting up, she decided not to stick here for too long, lest she meets more lionesses. She trotted away, going to her home. Up the old large tree, she climbed up quickly.
