This game should focus more on survival rather than just breeding the best coats. From what I have been noticing, lio-den is becoming more focused on breeding, and, well, that's about it. So how about a change? Add some suspense in the mix.

I would LOVE some of the suggestions Garet put here to be in effect, It would make this game come back to being realistic, and personally, I'd love to have the kind of suspense with these ideas. These are the aspects that are attempting to get support, the mechanics are being worked on below.

Also a GREAT topic similar to this one http://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=10011&page=17

FOR NCL LIONS

-Cubs could be more "useful" *have them "hunt" small bugs. Like cub patrolling or something..
-Your females don't get hurt or sick
-You don't get hurt or sick

-You don't have to drink water (maybe a new add on, Thirst, underneath Hunger) THIS CURRENTLY EXISTS. Hopefully it stays

-There are no negative repercussions for your pride in attacking villages (lioness gets hurt?)
-Your king doesn't starve to death ever, even if you never feed him

*By Cat (on not feeding your King)*
Well... how about when you male is below 60% hunger(as hungry as lionesses threatening to leave) he cannot fight as well? Or has a less of a chance things and focuses more on feeding himself/ small carcasses.

By Aliya on not feeding your King
In relation to people not feeding there kings, maybe they should bring it in that if your king reaches 100% hunger he looses stat points, or drops back in a couple of impression levels, I would find a starved lion to be pretty unimpressive if I was a lioness.

*On BREEDING
Aliya: I'm not suggesting that stronger lionesses would prevent breeding, I'm only suggesting that people would put more effort into their lionesses before breeding, and it wouldn't be restricted to extremes of 'must be level 10 to breed... or must have 500+ stats to breed'... I only was making a suggestion, that maybe a level 4 or 5 would be a start point for breeding ect.

jellyraptor: Lionesses below Average fertility have a higher chance of stillborn cubs, which would make mutations more rare and discourage people from constantly breeding NCL's ect.

Aliya on Trading with low mood/hunger
Another thought (I had on another thread with someone else)
Maybe if your selling and they are at 60% hunger or higher or at really low moods, they are not accepted in the TC and can not be transferred to another pride ect until their hunger and mood are fixed.
It would make people more serious about looking after and taking pride in what they are selling.

Oren's thread:
When somethings in a low mood, do you REALLY think that they'd want to hunt..that or on an empty stomach?
" ____ refuses to go hunting until you have played with her"
It would give more players incentive to interact with their lions daily!

And for submales "____refuses to patrol until you've played with him"

Your adolescent stomps around clawing at rocks and trees. Maybe you should play with him soon.

*On sick/damaged lion/esses*
Wounds:
Hunting: The lioness work together in a hunt and protect each other. if highly skilled ones are sent with lowly skilled ones they protect them from harm.

If you send out 5 Level 1 lionesses(extreme example m'kay?) they get wounded and cannot hunt for X amount of days. Injuries can vary, deadly ones are pass/cured by a SB/GB item from the Monkey like 'Jungle Water' or something(a mysterious liquid found in the Jungles of LioDen...it seems to make the sick healthy and heal the wounded...)
Males get wounded from PvP fights they lost and cannot be killed but harshly wounded and less likely to win other fights.

Newer players will get 5-10 game-months to train up their lionesses and have no repercussion from their males fighting to help them.

The chance of getting wounded during a hunt depends on several things:

- How many lionesses hunt
- Which Level the lioness(es) are/is
- The prey they hunt

So, if you send 5 lionesses on hunt, the chance is rather low, as they would protect each other (Cat's suggestion)

The higher the level, the higher the experience of a lioness, which means the lioness knows how to avoid getting injuried.

Of course getting wounded also depends on the prey. If they hunt a Buffalo or a Elephant (even if a calf), the chance is higher to get wounded.

Here a example:

- 2 lionesses (each lvl 5) bring back an Ibex (20% Chance of a wounded lioness)
- 5 lionesses (each lvl 5) bring back a Buffalo (30-40% Chance of a wounded lioness)
- 5 lionesses (each lvl 14) bring back a Buffalo (5-10% Chance of a wounded lioness)

Also if the wound is heavy/big or small depends on the prey.
A Buffalo or a Zebra can cause a bigger wound, than a Bongo or any Gazelle-type

A possible notice for a small or heavy/big wound could be:

- Your lioness got a small injury during the hunt. She wont be able to hunt for 1 day.
- Your lioness is heavly injuried. She wont be able to hunt for 2/3 days

WINDHOUNDS SUGGESTION
With a small wound a lioness couldn't hunt for 1 LioDen-day, maybe?
With a heavy wound maybe 2-3 days?

I mean can you hunt with a wound like THIS? *look at own risk* (go to page 3)

Sickness: Eating food close to expiration can create illness. Now, for me I see it two ways: the illness works like wounds, it prevent the lion from hunting, or makes it less likely to catch food. Males would be less likley to win(same as above,a nd cured the same way)

Cub Mortality
Stated it WILL be implemented in Lioden Eventually!

Ah, great idea Aliya! I know this feeling too well. I got a lion/ess with a low mood/hunger :I
I pm'ed one of them when this happened and said that is was my responsibility to check to see before I got something I didn't like.

It would DEFINITELY make people care more about feeding/playing with their pride. I WANT that to be a thing, that you can't offer something with 60% mood or hunger ...or less than that.

Mood or hunger below 50% shouldn't be allowed in the TC, in my own little world to ensure some sort of quality. But hey, the market works ok-ish how it is XD

Get a random message "You lioness is angry/tired and refuses to move!" XD :P

Lol. That would work.

Ok so what about when you bring a new lioness into the pride? Should that have any interaction? Like "____ sniffs (new lioness) warily" maybe this could apply some other feature...or just leave it alone?

Some of these ideas are actually pretty awesome.

//track. 'Cause I can, and I want to watch these ideas grow (since I lack creativity).

Blight@ I don't think a new system JUST for NCL's/traded lionesses entering prides should be implemented. Unless the "Personalities" post by Kraft got in, then I think that would fix itself XD

Mostly because players wouldn't react well if they bought a new one and had it chased by jealous ladies.

About the males beating up on rhinos and other large animals, I'm hoping the upcoming battling revamp implements different difficulties for certain NPCs.

Anyways these would be a good way to add a bit more realism and deeper gameplay than just breeding. In fact when I joined I thought it was going to be a bit of a Wolf quest type game where you actually had to overcome the challenge of being lions, an actual sim so to speak. Right now Lioden is going in the way of boring breeding games so I feel these would help change that.

I like Most of these I've only been playing this game for a little while and I'm feeling it's going to be like other 'sim' like games and get boring because everything is invincible, when I read a sims like game on the home page I kinda expected it to be semi more realistic instead of, breed, breed, feed your lioness, sell starving cub, breed, breed, never feed your king, breed, breed, kill a human with no consequence kinda thing. I mean I love cubs like any one else buutt that seems to be becoming the focus like most online games. I joined for rp/sims lion game not a breeding game.

Same Jelly Raptor!
I was pretty excited in the beginning, before the public studding, before the customisation (don't get me wrong I love the 'variety' in colours marks ect and I do appreciate all the hard work the developers put in) but the thing that excited me the most was the whole thought of building up the lions we start with and breeding a stronger generation. I think if maybe more focus is brought back to 'usefullness' of stat points ect it would help bring back some realism.
One thought I had a long time ago was with allowing breeding to occur only with strong females, I was hoping that a weaker lower stated lioness had a higher chance of having a miscariage or a still born cub ect... I do like that they brought in the mutations but it hasnt impacted in the way it should have, because now we have people deliberatley breeding low fert girls (usually NCL's) and its yeah... just made the cub market explode more :/...
hahah I kinda lost the gist of what I was trying to say so I will stop rambling now O.O

Agreed, I love the cool colors and markings, and I buy a new gal every once in a while but it seems to be the focus.I hate the whole breeding for mutations thing going on, it floods everything with plain poor stats cubs that no one wants. I really like the idea of things happening to cubs like if your lioness is low fert it's almost guaranteed of having stillborn(like 50/50) to slow down the breeding, or anything really I mean my lioness could literally be gone all day hunting and yet my cub suffers non from not nursing for a day. and I don't know I would really like most excitement and suspense then 'what your cubs will look like' and the monthly events.

When I was a howrse user way way back then (years ago) they had this thing where sometimes you'd log on and your horse would have 'colic' or got the cold and of course you could buy medicine but if you didn't their health went down, but they disabled that and the horse's came invincible there was nothing to look forward to besides 'babies' and the game became boring same thing every day,
I feel like it's going to be like that here where I'll stop wanting to get on every day because I'll know there will be nothing new going on that there wasn't yesterday no change no suspense.

(sorry this isn't very organized sounded better in my head OuO')

Both of you have some really cool thoughts. They actually sound neat and developed in thought o3o
To everyone who is a lazy reader, these ideas are ones I picked out from both Aliya and jellyraptor:

Aliya: Lower level lionesses wouldn't be able to breed, since higher leveled ones(more powerful) would prevent it so their cubs would have a better shot kinda thing. Which would encourage players to use them instead of breeding a decent statted female and just have her pump out cubs all the time. .. though this isn't very realistic since all ladies normally mate it would give the game a use for leveling ladies other than just getting food.

jellyraptor: Lionesses below Average fertility have a higher chance of stillborn cubs, which would make mutations more rare and discourage people from constantly breeding NCL's ect.

'course this is just the gist of what I got, supplemented with a dash of my own thoughts XD
If you guys don't want that, lemme know and I will edit this post to take it down.

Now THAT suggestion, all of them, on the breeding mechanic. It definitely would pull people away from seeing Lio-den as just a breeding game, and focus more on the whole theme of this game; survival.
I love the suggestions you guys have added in. <3

Also, I suggested a thing about TC and low mood/hungry lions. *blantant advertising*

Oh...how about if the lion/ess is in a low mood they also won't want to do anything? I find it kind of hard to believe that a low mood lion/ess would really want to patrol or hunt.

And from Oren's thread

" ____ refuses to go hunting until you have played with her"
It would give more players incentive to interact with their lions daily!

And for submales "____refuses to patrol until you've played with him"
