The medicine cat walked into the herb store, seeing Icepaw at work he walked over to the she-cat. "Since Mumblepaw just fell asleep, we'll give him this medicine once he wakes up", the tom told his apprentice. "How about we go out to the elders?", Horsetail asked, grabbing some Daisy leaves. "I'm sure they'll be happy to have some company", pausing for a second he added, " well most of them at least", Horsetail added thinking of Flamelily. For an elder of her age the she-cat still had a very sharp tongue on her.
Taking a few Ragwort leaves into his mouth, along with the daisy, Horsetail started walking out of the herb store. Pausing, he turned around again to Icepaw, "Mind abbing some Heather nectar?", the sand colored tom asked, pointing to the purple-pink flowers next to him. They would make the herbs easier to swallow," Also an you ask an appentice to gabb some moss and bing it too eh elders?", the tom asked through the bunch of leaves, he hoped most of his words got through, the elders would definitely need new bedding. Turning, the long legged tom headed for the entrance of the medicine cats den. Passing by Mumblepaw, his green-blue eyes went over the apprentice. Sound asleep, good.
Reaching the entrance, his eyes passed over Snowecho and Newtpaw. They were heading for the leaders den, was something wrong? Horsetail wondered following them with his eyes. If it was anything important, he was sure Snowcho would inform him later. Heading across camp, Horsetail reached the elders den. Stepping into the den, Horsetail said a greeting through the bunch of leaves in his mouth.

Stormberry was pleased that he seemed to have passed some of his confidence on to Swallowpaw, probably through all the time that they had spent together after moons of being mentor and apprentice. He shared the she-cat's distaste towards the rain, but he tried not to think more of it. Besides, he was distracted by what Swallowpaw said, and his expression softened slightly at the question of still being able to be friends with her once she became a warrior. "Of course we can still be friends, you can't get rid of me that easily." He replied sincerely, before going to pay attention to Stripepaw's hunting. "Nice catch, Stripepaw." He praised the apprentice, nodding at his question and turning to let the young tom bury his catch. He wanted to catch something himself while he was out too, but he was reluctant to admit that he was no good hunter. Still, he began to follow the scent of a sparrow, hopeful he would be able to catch something first time.

"Thank you, Snowecho. I shall ensure this does not occur again," Foxflame sighed.

He turned to Shrewflight.

"I am tired, but I must go about doing things myself, lest I never be able to do things myself again. Though…"

Foxflame hesitated, thinking that she must want to help him. Why would she offer otherwise? Her tone was not that of one who felt compelled to provide aid out of duty, but rather that of one who felt genuine concern. He thought for a moment, then replied.

"I'd enjoy your company. And from the looks of it, you haven't eaten as well. Concerned about me?" Foxflame laughed to himself. "That's misplaced concern then."

Foxflame looked away, smiled maliciously and innocently, then muttered his next statement loud enough to hear, but quiet enough so that it would seem that perhaps he was misheard.

"Your actions seem as though they'd imply something foolish. I'd not expect such quick friendships,” he teased quietly.

He turned back towards Shrewflight.

"'Tis correct, no? You said yourself that you should hunt again," he continued. He'd used the non-sequitur intentionally to make it seem as though he was indeed misheard. I must learn her position on this sometime, lest I injure her, he thought. He made sure his thoughts would not show.

"Let us be off then," he concluded.

Stripepaw buried his prey then stretched his paws out. He arched his back then looked to Stormberry. "Thanks." He muttered though he felt pleased with the praise even though he didn't show it. He never really got praise from his old mentor. Just a nod and they were off. He hadn't really lived like that. He looked to Swallowpaw with his yellow eye. He then looked back to Stormberry. "What do you think we should hunt? And where?" He asked looking around.

Mumblepaw | 9 Moons | Apprentice | 18/18 | Medicine Cat Den | Mentions: Snowecho / Horsetail

Mumblepaw would lift his head up and let out a terrified gasp, only to be halted by a wave of dry, painful coughs. He'd groan before trying to get a glimpse of his surroundings. But it's not like he could really move, his body was quite stiff from being in the same position for awhile, he couldn't even lift his head up. Not to mention he still couldn't smell a thing so that wouldn't be useful in any way. He'd settle down as he finally realized where he was. The Medicine Cat Den.. how fun. He'd let out an annoyed grumble. Mumblepaw wasn't quite fond of the Medicine Cat Den, but sometimes he'd rather be here then in the cramped Apprentice's Den.. it was the quietest place he new at times and since he couldn't smell he didn't have to worry about the herbs that made his stomach turn. Mumblepaw would pause as he noticed how empty the place was. Snowecho and Newtpaw were gone, and he's sure he heard Horsetail and Icepaw saying something about checking on the elders while he slept awhile back. So, I have the den to myself.. but I'm not even healthy enough to destroy the place. He'd grumble. "Snowecho and Horsetail should be glad I'm ill." He managed to say before letting out a cough. He seemed to be able to talk a bit better, but his throat still hurt.

Snowecho lead the way to the leaders den, letting out a loud mew to announce their arrival. "Sunstar? Willowstar? There is something important I need to talk to you about." He mewed, patiently waiting outside the leaders' den with Newtpaw. He was confident that both of the leaders would understand Newtpaw's situation, and give him a new mentor before the day was over. He felt a couple of droplets hitting his nose, and looked up to see the clouds opening on them. He thanked his RiverClan heritage, at least he would not get too drenched.

Hawkpaw opened his eyes slowly. His stomach growled as he laid there. He looked to his stomach feeling hungry. He stood up and walked out of the apprentice's den feeling the wind blowing against his pelt. He dug around the fresh-kill pile and found a good sized rabbit. He picked it up and carried it to elder's den. His mouth watered as he dropped it by Flamelily. He knew he had to feed the elders before he could hunt. Besides, he should probably hunt first too. He hadn't hunted in a while. He needed the practice. Hawkpaw heard thunder as the clouds started rolling in.

Stormberry continued to follow the scent of the sparrow he was hoping to catch, but he briefly looked over his shoulder at Stripepaw when he heard him speak up. "I can scent a swallow nearby, but I think there's more than one squirrel around here too. Are you good at climbing?" He asked quietly, hoping not to scare off any prey. Even so, of course, the noise from the rain would probably help to give them a bit more of an advantage when it came to ambushing. He looked over and noticed that he was right about scenting squirrels, as it seemed that Swallowpaw had just caught one. He purred with delight at how well his apprentice was doing, before his attention was averted by the sound of the sparrow he had been tracking. Trying to hide his bulk behind some bushes, he crept closer and launched himself at the bird, unsheathing his claws to make a quick kill. It didn't happen that way, however, and he merely grazed the bird's tail feathers with his claws. Luckily for him, he was able to bat the sparrow with his large paw as it tried to take flight, and the force of the impact killed it instantly. The large tom let out a sigh of relief and quietly thanked StarClan for the bird's life, before picking it up. He was just grateful that he had made the catch - even if it wasn't very graceful.

Stripepaw looked to Stormberry. "Of course I know how to climb trees." He meowed watching the deputy catch the sarrow. "Nice sparrow." He meowed sniffing the air. He felt some rain splash onto his pelt. He caught a whiff of squirrel. "There's a squirrel over there." He whispered as he spotted it in the tree. He quickly clawed his way up the tree. He let his claws sink into the bark as he made it to the branch. It wobbled under his weight. Maybe he also just wanted to prove he could climb a tree. Stripepaw leaped trying to catch the squirrel but missed. He felt his claws slide on the slippery branch. He felt himself slide off the branch. He hooked one claw onto the branch as he tried to pull himself up as he let out a yowl of distress.

Swallowpaw swiftly buried her catch and turned just in time to see Stormberry snag a sparrow from the air. "Wow that was close Stormberry!" She said, awed. Before she could be too much more impressed however a yowl caught her attention. Her eyes flicked to Stripepaw hanging onto a branch in the tree above her. The rain pattered heavier, making everything that much more slippery. She quickly shot into action, pushing as much forest debris as she could handle into a pile below Stripepaw. "Just let go!" She called up to her fellow apprentice. "This is why we don't try and catch the ones in trees mousebrain!" Swallowpaw added, only half joking. "Especially when it's wet and slippery!"

Stripepaw's mind began to panic. He heard 'let go' and let his claw sheath. He began to fall. he tried to turn his paws but he failed and landed on his side. He let out a groan as he tried to stand up. He looked to Stormberry. He had showed a weak spot. Fox dung, now he won't want to take my assessment. Stripepaw thought still trying to stand up. He stood up finally but his shoulder hurt.

Stormberry had been about to bury the sparrow he had caught when he heard the yowl from Stripepaw, and he turned to find the apprentice hanging from a branch. Luckily Swallowpaw was already there and made sure he could have a safe landing, but somehow the young tom still managed to hurt his shoulder in the process. He quickly made his way over and looked worriedly at Stripepaw, hoping that the injury to his shoulder wasn't too bad. "Great StarClan, Stripepaw, how didn't you land on your feet? You have to be more careful!" He exclaimed, shaking himself off as he felt the rain get heavier. "I think we'll have to call this training short for today. The weather's pretty bad already anyway, we can come out again another time." He mewed, flinching at the sound of distant thunder. "Let's gather up what we caught and get you to the medicine cats, Stripepaw. Can you walk okay?" He asked, going to pick up his sparrow as well as the mouse Stripepaw had caught earlier.

Stripepaw shook his head. "No." Was all he managed to mutter. He fell back down to the ground. He was sure he had broken his shoulder. Why didn't he land on his feet? He had never really fallen from a high place before but he had seen other cats fall. They always managed to land on their feet. Yet when Stripepaw fell he landed on his side. He didn't groan or anything just laid there quietly lost in his thoughts.
