This RP is closed and has been remade here: LINK A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." Suddenly, a sharper female voice cuts in. "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black. setting music The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down?
Current season: Early Winter. [Frigid temperatures. Long nights, short and dark days.] Current major events: Time Skip!! 9/5 Two Abolition dogs have been killed by Insurgent pack members. This has caused unrest in both packs. A massive snow storm has swept over Chernobyl, bringing an early winter and a shortage of supplies.

Name: Fang | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Slate "I smell of what?" Fang, was genuinely surprised. It would make sense if he smelled of blood, but he was sure that death wasn't a scent. "Non-sense." he said plainly, going by the other dog. Fang wondered, what did he usually smell like? The question in general surprised him, he had never really smelled himself. But, if he asked the others, he was sure they'd just say something bad about him instead. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 25/08/21 @ 11:06:06 by Sen. π¦’ (#237217) |

Fiorello | Loner | Location: Insurgent Territory Mentions: Sana, Demesu. The scrawny canine visibly sunk away at Sana's sudden hostile tone. He averted his gaze, letting it wander to his front paws. "I was not expecting to meet a ghost." The words made his ears lie back in confusion. Ah. He had also frightened them. The thought had never crossed Fiorello's mind. He was usually the one filled with fret, an easy target for any canine to take advantage of. That didn't seem to be the case here. He could never be sure, though. He let an uneasy silence settle between the other dogs and himself before timidly speaking up. "This isn't the place to seek s-shelter." He murmured, his eyes never leaving the ground. "The local pack doesn't like strangers. I've even heard stories of th-their leader eating dogs." He spoke, wheezing out the last sentence with a shudder. He wasn't entirely convinced that the rumors were true, but surely they had to have some sort of base. They wouldn't have begun from nothing. He hesitated for a moment before glancing up, surprised to see that one of the dogs mirrored his own anxiety-ridden features. "I can lead you to a safe space just outside of the city if you want.." He offered, uncertainty filling his voice. "If-if you try anything.." He began, quickly cutting himself off. What could he do if they did attack him? Not much, really. Except for run.. Well, they didn't need to know that. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Shatter| Loner| @Abolition Border| Mentions- Open The tall wolf-dog inhaled the scents of the pack dogs, curling her lip. She reluctantly stepped along the border, sniffing for prey-scent. She could smell dog, but she was now almost in pack territory, so that could be expected. She padded along, keeping to the shadows so that her pelt could help hide her. 0 players like this post! Reo | Abolition Scout | Location: Abolition Camp | Mentions: [Direct] Ferrer, Shiloh [Indirect] Mavy, Loops Reo was sitting down with his eyes closed. He wanted a moment of silence to gather his thoughts from working just a little. The scent of another dog made him open his eyes to see Shiloh in front of him with a small bouquet of white wildflowers. The light brown canine flattened his ears and smiled sheepishly as he went to retrieve them from the other dog. "Thank you Shiloh." Reo coughed out as he set the flowers in between his paws. He looked over at Ferrer and barely contained a chuckle from seeing the tough and confident dog with flowers behind his ear. It was a small sight to behold and Reo looked back at Shiloh and let out another chuckle. This was probably the most fun he had in a while. When Ferrer mentioned that he was done and offered to go anywhere else, Reo's mind went back into work mode. He was still anxious from that Insurgent dog smell from early. It seemed to have gotten closer as well. And that feline stench was horrific. Actually, Reo thought he heard a cat trying to talk to Ferrer but the light brown dog ignored the cat at least. "Actually, I want to check out near the border real quick. I think it would put Shiloh on ease as well to see us discover nothing." Reo stood up and wagged his tail. He still couldn't help but think that he was lucky to have the two of them with him. However, perhaps half a minute or so after Reo made his comment, he heard a strangled bark. A cry for help. His ears and head turned towards the noise and his body stiffened. The dog took a huge whiff of the air and he smelled... that insurgent dog..an abolition dog.. and.. and blood. His ears went flat against his head and his fur riffled on his back. This wasn't good at all. His tail went straight out, with no hint of a wag at all. He turned to look at the siblings and said, "Well, looks like there's something. C'mon." Reo took a few steps forward before he realized he had left behind the flowers. Although the flowers could wait, he rather not have them stolen by some measly cat. He picked up them in his mouth and he began making his way towards the noise. The tall grass was still a hassle but now with such determination, it was not as a hard feat anymore. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 25/08/21 @ 17:53:07 by Luxaeus (#78363) |

Name: Slate | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Fang "Of death." He was completely serious, no hint of any sort of joke in his voice or expression. "Canines give off a certain scent when they die, or are close to death. You smell of one who has killed. I'll only ask once more. Did something happen?" There was danger in his tone. Slate was not one to be ignored or brushed off. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Shatter| Loner| Abolition Territory| Mentions- None| The black and white wolfdog kept to the outskirts of the territory, where they most likely didnt hunt. She weaved behind a structure, her nose low to the ground. At one point Shatter stumbled across a nest of mice and promptly devoured them, but that only slightly filled the void. She continued on. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Territory Mentions: Isa, Raymond Ridding the blood that had gotten onto her lips with a swipe of her tongue, the feeling of being watched suddenly pricked at her senses, the spotted dame spinning her head with her eyes narrowed around just as something crashed through the brush further behind them. Tense, a growl rumbled lowly deep within her chest, nostrils flaring as she tried to sniff through the heavy scent of blood to decipher who was watching them, and if they were a foe. She relaxed only slightly as the sharp, tangy scent of herbs hit her nostrils at once, huffing loudly from her nose to rid of it before it would trigger a sneeze from her. Shortly after, Aramis spotted a sliver of mottled, brown hued fur, just enough for Aramis could recognize, finally letting her tense form relax fully. "Come out." Aramis flinched slightly at Isa's sudden order, the adrenaline that was slowly giving out making her more jumpy. The gray furred dame then turned to her, Aramis glancing at her expectantly. "We shouldn't linger around. The faster we get this back the better." Aramis nodded to her mother, jaws opening to huff out a single word, "Agreed. She said it honestly, genuinely agreeing with Isa's words, which isn't very common to say the least. It'd be a nightmare to drag their kill back to camp if it got too dark. Her gaze swiftly drifted back to Raymond as the smaller maiden jumped out from where she hid, an apology quickly coming from her as she did. Aramis's dark hued eyes flashed quickly with sympathy as the skittish dame tried to smile at Aramis's mother, but turning away as it was only met with a cold and critical gaze. It was unfortunate that she pined for Isa's, out of all dogs, attention. "It's fine, Raymond." Aramis hummed softly, dismissing her apologies as she beckoned the timid, mottled healer over. "Can you help us take this back to camp? We'd appreciate it." She said, walking over to he boar and fastening her jaws to one of its hind legs as she tugged as well, paws digging into the ground. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sana | Location: Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Demesu, Fiorello Sana was quick to mute herself, eager to listen to the other dog. Though the words he spoke did little to excite her heart. "This isn't the place to seek s-shelter." Ahh, so they'd have to leave soon, maybe the nearby pack wasn't so- her thoughts were stopped by the following sentence. "Dog eaters?" She murmured, just what had she gotten her family into? Was the leader a wolf or were they just a cannibal, maybe Demesu was right. Her eye lit up, black ears standing tall at the mention of help. Just how long had it been since someone offered to help, just the simple thought pulled a sigh from her lips. "Thank you. We'd truly appreciate it. Whenever you wish lead the way." Her tail swished happily for a moment allowing her to ignore the empty threat. Demesu | Location: Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Sana, Fiorello Icy blue eyes reflected his stress as Demesu's ears quirked up to the horrifying thought of cannibalism. There's no way they'd do that, right, and what did mean by "The local pack's leader." Would that not be his leader, the very one he threatened to call. Tsk. He clicked his tongue, the large coward was simply thinking too much. It's likely he just misspoke, at least he was nice, or as nice as one could be cornered into a wall. Stepping back, Demesu decided to allow the smaller one more space, knowing the fear he must have. He struggled to speak if only for a moment, his voice catching in his throat. "Thank you." Demesu dipped his head in appreciation saying nothing more than that. 0 players like this post! Like? |

β Shiloh | she/her | Location: Abolition territory | Mentions: Reo, Ferrer, Mavy / Loops (indirect) Shiloh huffed a soft laugh at the opposite canineβs sheepishness, βOf course,β She replied in turn to the words he spoke. Following the scoutβs dark gaze, she turned to look at her brother who stood in a proper manner, the small bundle of wildflowers perched securely behind his earβ held into place by his wirey coat. The dog couldnβt held but smile at the sight. Although it seemed insignificant in their lives, this was going to be a memory that would remain tucked into her brain until she was laid to rest. It was the little things, sheβd tell you, that mattered the mostβ the smallest gestures that mean the most. Turning her head back towards Reo, meeting his eye, Shiloh couldnβt help but laugh herself. There certainly wasnβt many days like this, not anymore at least now that sheβs an adult, but these were the days she cherished. Though when Ferrer spoke, asking if her or Reo had anywhere else to be, she looked towards the sighthound mix. She had no place to be, hence why she followed after the pair. Though just as Reo began to speak a hushed voice caught the canineβs attention, her head snapping in the direction of the source. The breeze carried the scent of a felineβ a cat. Shiloh flattened her ears against briefly and let out of soft huff of a bark, a warning. They didnβt have time for any cat shenanigans, not right yet anyhow, they were on duty. Her attention was drawn back to her packmate at hearing her name being mentioned; she nodded in agreement and looked towards her older brother awaiting his answer. Just then she heard the strangled cry of a pained dog, Shilohβs body tensed as she threw a wide eyed look towards the scout and healer. Without hesitation Shiloh set off for the source of the bark, her body hastily shouldered through the taut grass. The fear scent, the metallic smell of blood, and all among other things intertwined in her nostrils almost making her sick. It was in that moment that she could finally identify the familiar scent of the mother dog, βMaββ Shiloh stopped abruptly in her tracks as she hurriedly came upon the scene, the mangled body of her packmate laid out in the grass; discarded as if she were trash. The death scent lingered heavy in the air, making her lungs itch. It was almost as if her heart stopped, even time felt as if it had stopped as she stared down at the heap of fur and blood. Backing up, she bumped into another dog, flipping around to face them she realized it was only Reo and Ferrer. The dog let out a breath she didnβt realize she was holding, she was at a loss for words; she didnβt know what to say. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Fiorello | Loner | Location: Insurgent Territory Mentions: Sana, Demesu. Fiorello didn't move for some time, weighing the situation silently in his head. When he did step forward he gave the other canines a wide birth, watching them suspiciously as he skirted past in a blur of legs. He took off in a rather fast trot, not bothering to look behind to see if they were following. This is the last time I help someone. What was I thinking? He cursed himself in his mind, hyper aware of the soft click of nails behind him. Each tap made his skin crawl and he wasn't very enthused with the fact he couldn't see them. What if they attacked? If only he could swivel his head around like an owl. Eugh, never mind. The thought was unpleasant in itself. With every step he could feel the cowardice growing inside his chest. It began to scream in a harsh voice that only he could hear, causing his ears to twitch rapidly in response. "Run. Just start running. Don't look back." The words grew so loud that before he knew it, he had gone too far ahead. He snapped back into reality. The pawsteps had grown silent and he suddenly felt very alone. He stopped and turned to stare at them in the distance. His legs impatiently shaking as he waited for them to catch up, still violently fighting back against the urge to abandon them. Ferrer | Abolition Healer | Location: Abolition Territory - Abolition Border Mentions: Shiloh, Reo, Loops, Mavy. Ferrer sniffed, his nose crinkling as a soft noise pulled his attention. He glanced up, a scraggly cat perched in a nearby tree was making noises at him? The thought itself was preposterous and made his massive head swing to the side in confusion. His ears fell back, the flowers tucked in his coat gently floating to the ground as a result. The movement was caught just out of the corner of his eye and startled him. His body swiveled around in surprise and he leaned down to sniff at them suspiciously. Quickly glancing up at Shiloh and putting two and two together, a soft chuckle sounding from his muzzle. He lifted himself back up and began to step towards the other canines before remembering the feline. Oh yeah.. He paused and turned his nose towards the tree, letting out a loud "woof" in response- hopeful that it would shoo the critter away. "Touch these plants again and I'll be havin' you for dinner!" He threatened with a snort, his voice muffled from the herbs in his jaws. A cry for help- a gurgle, then silence. Ferrer was quickly drawn away from the cat. He would worry about that later. "Well, looks like there's something. C'mon." The words sent a surge of haste through his body and he loped after the other two dogs, his head high and wormwood still dangling from his mouth. It didn't take long to reach the border and the scene of the crime. He could smell it before he could see it, the scent of death- of familiarity, and of Insurgent. The fur along his spine shot up in rows and his muzzle creased in discomfort. He faltered as Shiloh froze in her tracks, backing up into his chest and causing him to stop as well. "What's wrong-" He began, concern filling his expression. He finally glanced past her, the sight making his heart drop. "Heavens.." He breathed out, his voice barely a whisper. Without hesitation he released the plants he had been carrying, letting them fall to the ground at his paws. He brushed past the other two dogs and hastened towards the crumpled body of the warrior. Pausing for a mere second, his eyes desperately searching for any sign of life. No. This can't be. He dipped his head, pressing his nose against Mavy's blood-spattered side. Holding his breath, he waited for something- anything. Nothing would come of it. No breath, no noise, no sign of living. Only hours ago she had brought new life into the world.. and now. A noise similar to a sob came from the hulking dog's chest, yet not a tear fell from his eye. "We should.. We should give her a proper burial." He said finally, lifting his head high. "-and report this to Lance, when we return." He added, blinking rapidly. "I-I'll see to it that her pups-" He stopped with a heavy rush of breath. It was all too much to bear. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 25/08/21 @ 22:40:38 by Sleep π± (#44085) |

Raymond | @Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Isa and Aramis. She yelped, now springing out of the bushes. Raymond bowed her head quickly `` I'm sorry! I didn't mean to sneak up on you!`` Raymond looked up at Isa, she remembered when those eyes were still full of life from her puphood. She closed her eyes letting out a silent sigh, the dog rose her head backing up a bit from the much larger female in front of her. She tried to smile at her but that cold stare made her look away. She had been wondering where Tyulen and Lance were, they seemed to not be very present. And that made her feel anxious, if one thing went wrong, it'd be her fault. 0 players like this post! Like? |
