This RP is closed and has been remade here: LINK A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." Suddenly, a sharper female voice cuts in. "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black. setting music The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down?
Current season: Early Winter. [Frigid temperatures. Long nights, short and dark days.] Current major events: Time Skip!! 9/5 Two Abolition dogs have been killed by Insurgent pack members. This has caused unrest in both packs. A massive snow storm has swept over Chernobyl, bringing an early winter and a shortage of supplies.

Name: Fang | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Slate "Answer me, cur!" The other growled, baring teeth as he said so. Fang had started to slightly panic at the smell of the other dogs arriving, after all finding them in this situation was quite dangerous. "Why is it y-" the lighter dog could barely get anything out of his throat before he was interrupted. As a light coat dashed foward, knocking Slate on his side. Isa. A split second of shock bolted in his body. "Explain yourselves or a bruised side will be the least of your worries." And what he had feared seemed to have happened, the other dogs being involved was what he had least wanted. "Slate, started nagging me about this 'death scent' I have, or whatever. It wasn't my fault after all. the husky mix answered with a irritated tone, head not looking directly at the other two. Sometimes, Fang thought it was better if certain pack members weren't in the pack, but this time, he was for sure of it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Territory Mentions: Isa, Raymond, Mariah, Fang, Slate Aramis winced as Isa barrelled into the gray furred brute, sending the warrior aside by a few paw steps before she barked out an order to explain themselves. Abandoning the hog where they left it, Aramis approached slowly, ears pricking forward as a somewhat faint scent managed to waft in her direction. It was blood, but not only that. It was a subtle but non-mistakable scent that made her pelt prick with unease, one that set in not so long after a life was taken. Although it was quite cliche to say, it was a death scent, and Aramis was no fool to miss it. It wouldn't have been so alarming had it not been for the scent of blood, and Aramis knew it wasn't the hogs blood, she could tell that from the direction of it. And how could she differentiate the two blood scents? A subtle detail, but it wasn't as sweet as prey blood made it self to be. No other fresh-kill in camp, either, Aramis observed, after quickly sweeping her gaze through camp."Slate, started nagging me about this 'death scent' I have, or whatever. It wasn't my fault after all." Stopping a foot or two apart from Isa, her eyes narrowed at Fang's irritated tone, dark hued eyes boring into him. "No, Slate's right about the scent. What have you been up to? I see you haven't brought any sort of prey back." A small accusation was present in Aramis's tone as she spoke, nostrils flaring as she visibly sniffed at him. Oh yes, Slate was definitely right. She didn't speak too much, not wanting to give Isa the idea that she was taking control of the situation, but it was too important to go unnoticed by anybody else. 0 players like this post! Like? Name: Shadow | Location: Insurgent -Abolition Border | Mentions: Quillion Shadow whimpered and pressed themselves farther into the dirt, baring their throat, at Quillion's resounding no. When he turned and seemed to notice how they were acting, Shadow realized that he didn't mean to hurt them. He was in pain himself. Shadow quickly rolled back over, and was starting to stand when - "I'm sorry Shadow, I need some time to cool off." Shadow nodded dejectedly as he turned and staggered away, calling after him. "Oh.. alright then.... Please come see me when you get back to camp...?" There was still a hint of fear in their tone, but of a different kind. They were afraid that he wouldn't want anything to do with them. They turned and started slowly making their way back towards camp. Name: Slate | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis, Fang, Isa, Raymond, Mariah Slate growled as Isa barreled into him, but cut it off as he realized who it was. His teeth were still bared in a snarl, but he was studiously not looking at his alpha so that she couldn't say he was threatening her. "Slate started nagging me about this 'death scent' I have, or whatever. It wasn't my fault after all." Slate let out a deeper growl at that, but once again cut it off as Aramis started speaking. She had almost as good of a nose as he did, and he respected her infinitely more for going against her mother's wishes. "No, Slate's right about the scent. What have you been up to? I see you haven't brought any sort of prey back." Slate let his lips drop back over his teeth. Finally, someone was paying attention. "He came back smelling of canine death and refused to answer my questions, so I challenged him. You came back before he could respond." He sat back on his haunches, waiting to see what Isa would do. Name: Mariah | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis, Isa, Fang, Raymond, Slate Mariah was used to be ignored. It didn't bother her now as much as it used to. She decided that since everyone else was busy dealing with the fighting males, she would get started skinning the boar. In winter, there is always a need for extra skins. She carefully began separating the hide from the meat, and ripped it into manageable pieces before carrying those pieces into the healer's den. She set aside a group to take to Shadow's den, but everything else went where the healer could catalogue it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Isa | Insurgent Leader | Location: Insurgent Camp. Mentions: Aramis, Fang, Slate. Isa fell into silence as she listened to the others squabble amongst themselves. The noise was deafening, tiresome, annoying.. All the while, her eyes never left Fang's face. She had been silently taking in the situation herself. In spite of the lingering smell of death, something the others seemed terribly concerned of, the familiar scent of Abolition was also wafting from his coat. That seemed to intrigue her more. She stepped around Slate who had returned to an upright position once again. "Explain to me what exactly wasn't your fault?" She questioned, voice eerily calm and eyes narrowing. "Be sure to justify the scent of Abolition on your fur while you're at it." She added with a sniff of disapproval. At that, she stepped back and shot a warning glare towards Aramis as well. "He came back smelling of canine death and refused to answer my questions, so I challenged him." The canine's words hit her like a truck. Challenged him? She swiveled around to face Slate, teeth bared. "It is not your place to challenge another subordinate." Her tone was sharp as she all but yelled the sentence into his face. "Next time, report to me if you have a problem. You have no authority." Her words were harsh and straight to the point, her voice filled with hostility. She stared him down for another moment, daring the much larger dog to oppose her. Isa had had enough of their quarreling at this point. If they wouldn't yield with an order, she wasn't above using violence to speak to them. "Stay quiet or move off." She more or less announced to the circle of dogs around her, finally tearing her eyes away from Slate and turning back towards the husky mix. "Speak." She ordered, her voice much less gentle than before. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Name: Slate | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis, Fang, Mariah, Raymond, Isa Slate narrowed his eyes at Isa as she turned back to him "You have no authority." The words hit him like a slap to the face, and he visibly stiffened, consciously fighting with every fiber of his being against the urge to rake his claws across her face and make her realize who he was. I can't take this much longer, I need to get out of here before I kill her. He jerkily turned and padded slowly out of camp, his stiff motions and aggressive stance daring anyone to follow him. He would go find Shadow. They hadn't been in camp since that afternoon. That would keep him from murdering Isa. Name: Shadow | Location: Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Quillion Shadow was slowly making their way towards camp, conscious of how quickly the light was fading around them. They stopped for a moment and looked back in the direction Quillion had gone, wishing he had allowed them to accompany him. No one should be alone in this darkness, but... he didn't want them there, and they wouldn't force their company on him. On another dog, maybe. But never him. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sana | Location: Outside the Territories | Mentions: Fiorello, Demesu Sana raised her head back to look at the gracious dog, a calm expression on her face. "That, I will try to do." She eyes her son, nodding towards him. "We both will. Again, thank you." She spoke, turning away from the pale dog, Sana began to head over to the closest corner. She stood for a moment clearly contemplating something, before turning back around and sitting with her back to the wall. "You know I was thinking, you've helped us so much and we never even exchanged names." She chuckled at the thought. "I'm Sana, and he's Demesu, my son." Sana said as she looked towards the larger dog. "But don't let me hold you up, it's getting late and I wouldn't want to delay you any further." Demesu | Location: Outside the Territories | Mentions: Sana, Fiorello Why? The only question on his mind was simply, why. In what world does a random wild dog take two dogs into their home and basically give it to them? Sigh. This was a lot, maybe too much. He shook his head, he had to clear his thoughts. "This isn't the time." He mumbled silently, when he came to Sana had finished speaking and was sitting in a corner. He'd missed the conversation, not that it mattered, not right now. For now, he'd just try to get some rest, the smaller dog not seeming like too much of a threat at the moment. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 31/08/21 @ 20:43:32 by Mystic340βΎ (#47157) |

Name: Shadow | Location: Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Slate Shadow stopped as the scents of the camp grew stronger. They needed to take a moment to collect themself before they met everyone else. They curled up, nose under tail, and thought about all that had happened that day, including the new distance between them and Quillion. I hope he's alright.... Name: Slate | Location: Insurgent Territory | Mentions: Shadow Slate followed Shadow's scent trail until a more recent one crossed it, leading him towards them. He stopped a few lengths away, hoping that they were ok. He watched for a moment.... There They were still breathing, but the fact that they were curled up on the ground like that worried him. He could scent Quillion on them, as well as that rowdy pup, Ryker, was it? If someone had hurt them, they were going to pay. Then he realized, they were crying. I should leave them be for now... 0 players like this post! Like? |

Fiorello | Loner | Location: Outside the Territories. Mentions: Sana, Demesu. He silently watched the older female as she expressed her appreciation once more before settling back against a wall. His mahogany eyes squinted in the dim lighting, barely making out her pale coat as she continued to speak. "You know I was thinking, you've helped us so much and we never even exchanged names." Ah, now that she mentioned it, they hadn't. Not many dogs asked him for his name, they were usually just demanding he hand over his dinner or yelling at him to "get off their land". Only today he had been asked for his name twice. What a rarity. He listened intently as she listed off her own name and the name of the brute, Fiorello's ears perking in surprise to learn it was her son. Sana. Demesu. He echoed the names in his mind a few times, glancing up to study the water damaged ceiling. They were lovely names, he had to admit. "Fiorello." He replied curtly, speaking the word as if it were foreign to him. His grandmother had told him it meant "little flower" but his father had always called flowers "disgusting weeds" so he had always had mixed feelings about it. Hm, to each their own I suppose. His attention snapped back to the other dog's scarred features as she mentioned the time. Hm. She was right, it was getting late. He could feel a chill run down his spine as a cool gust of wind wafted past his coat. It was indeed time to go. The last thing he needed was to catch a chill. Without another word, Fiorello dipped his head respectfully and turned away from the pair of dogs. He gently pushed the door with his nose until it was a mere crack again and began to trot away, his nails clacking against the pavement as he disappeared into the evening. 0 players like this post! Name: Shadow | Location: Insurgent Territory (Right outside camp) | Mentions: Anyone in camp Shadow took a deep breath after the tears had dried and looked up to see Slate standing a few lengths away. "Oh.. Slate... Hello." They watched as he moved closer, cautious of his aggravated temper. "I'm alright now... Just worried about Ryker and Quillion. One left, and the other worried me before leaving on his own." They look off into the middle distance, nose twitching. Shadow looked up as Slate nudged them, then sighed and followed. "I should probably go see what Mariah wants, she's hanging out right in front of my den." Shadow nodded to Mariah in thanks, then began digging the expansions to their den. When all was done, there would be an extra room off to the side with a bed set up in it for Quillion. Name: Slate | Location: Insurgent Territory (Right outside camp) | Mentions: Anyone in camp Slate was pacing as he waited for Shadow to finish crying. He stopped as they took a deep breath and started moving towards them as they spoke. "Are you alright Shadow?" He stopped and dropped his head to look into their eyes. "I'm sure both are fine. Come on, let's get you back into camp." He nudged Shadow with his snout and started back into camp. Slate nodded at Shadow's parting remark before making for his own den. Name: Mariah | Location: Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Anyone in camp Mariah noticed when Shadow and Slate reentered the camp and trotted over to wait by Shadow's den in case they were still talking. "Hello Shadow, I remember you mentioning you were planning on expanding your den, so I brought over the extra pelts you needed, I hope everything is going well for you. Have a good evening." She trotted back over to the healer's den and continued sorting pelts. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Name: Fang | Location: Insurgent's Camp | Mentions: Fang, was stuck, what could he do? He couldn't lie, Isa would find out eventually. He wasn't dumb of course. "No, Slate's right about the scent. What have you been up to? I see you haven't brought any sort of prey back." Fang listened intently, he tried to think of something. It was impossible to think. "He came back smelling of canine death and refused to answer my questions, so I challenged him. You came back before he could respond." Now, he was sure that Slate was one of the most foolish dogs he had ever met. He had no right to start something like this, it was humiliating for Fang himself. All the chaos that was happening around him, he couldn't keep track, although he anticipated to see what Isa would think. It was an eerie thing for Fang, how Isa kept looking at him with such menacing eyes. Telling him off, Isa had finally directed all the attention at him. "Speak." Fang gulped, should he just- "Fine. I was patrolling the borders and then found an Abolition pack dog, slaughtered them." he seemed like he was irritated, like he was annoyed, but down inside he had done something he deeply regretted. He once again allowed his impulsive tendencies to take control, why could he not deal with stuff more carefully when in pressure? Isa could either lash out, or praise him for his doings. In this situation, what she would do was unpredictable. Although it wasn't that he was only worried about that, how would the others think of him? As a monster? Well sure he wouldn't care. 0 players like this post! Like? |
