Bumping because whoo... These are still so annoying to me. Every single time I refresh the TC multiple pop up and it just clogs the TC and is basically veiled begging. Please... Staff, do something about these paperclip trades. I don't even care if they don't go away altogether, just make them separate from the TC....

Here it is, going on 13+ months since the staff said they'd do something about paperclip trades, or update us if they're going to "officially" allow them in the TC, and no updates thus far... if they're not going to do anything about paperclip trades and just allow them to continue as they have been, I wish they'd just SAY something, like, PLEASE. I'm tired of issues like this being swept under the rug by the staff.

They did allow paperclips.
There was a thread asking for community input, and then implemented the "Hide trade" button as solution, which, well, does not solve anything, because people keep begging and destroying the market by doing the paperclips.
Allowing people to do paperclips and offer 1sb for high value items also opened a whole new can of worms with people thinking they can get out of begging/offering junk for high value items by saying it's a "joke" offer, even if they do not know the other user (had it happen to me quite a few times, especially after this thread got high traction due to news, had to block a few people because they kept doing it even when asked not to).

And well, the amount of trades I have to hide is growing at a scary pace, with people pretty much making all apps, items and so on lose on value because the group that does the "challenges" gets them for very cheap/for literal begging.
It also destroys the whole point of tutorial and people learning to play the game, as new users see the paperclip challenge and just jump on it, begging in titles such as "I'm new, seeing where this will get me", instead of actually playing and spending time on the site. I've seen accounts that were not even a few hours old that already had a ton of paperclip trades up and didn't even bother with playing and learning the game.

@ Khajiit: I'm at work right now so I can't show you a screenshot, but on page four of the news post you linked, the staff responded to my comment and said that was NOT the solution though



edit: on lunch, got the screenshot. If the option to hide trades wasn't the permanent solution to paperclip trades and if they're still discussing, I feel like 13+ months is PLENTY of time to have come up with a permanent solution, or at the very, very least, they should update the players. If creating the hide button isn't their solution for paperclip trades, what is? If they want to just go ahead and allow paperclip trades to continue being posted in the TC, I wish they would just update us on that. I literally just want an answer.

Well, yeah, they seem to have decided it will be the solution, as they allowed the paperclips later on. I think I had a ticket in Modbox where they said that paperclips were allowed before and therefore will not be persecuted as rule breaks, I even screened it for friends on discord, it was a while ago but I might be able to find it. It was somewhere along the lines of "we allowed the paperclip at this time" or something of the kind. It is over a year of looking through a rather busy chat so it might take me a moment.

Okay, I am interested to see that if you can find it, but where's my public decree that paperclip trades are allowed in the TC?

Not to butt in, but I agree. They really need to come up with a public solution once and for all. I personally think paperclip trades are veiled begging, but I don't even care what they do at this point. I just want a decision that they promised to give us over a year ago.

Yeah, they never made any sort of public announcement. I don't check the chatbox. I know there are other players who don't check the chat. They should post their decision somewhere everyone can see, if that really was their decision to allow them, like in a news post. Starting to lose my faith in them lately ngl.

Also yeah, tell me about the horrible communication, it's like that with everything when it comes to staff.

I do remember I had asked in another if the paperclips won't fall under veiled begging, and they just refuted that the "challenges" are allowed. Which, well, makes the veiled begging rule obsolete if this one thing is allowed then it gives an argument against any action taken against any other veiled begging as they can just go "oh, I meant it as a paperclip challenge" and be done with a slap on the wrist and nothing else. Seriously mad now that I stopped saving those damn links.

That's so unfortunate. I feel like I'm going to have to quit one day if stuff like this continues. I still stand by what I said though, I want the staff to make a public announcement with what their decision for paperclip trades is, like we were promised. I'm sure there are some people still left in the dark; not sure if they're technically allowed or not. I was under the impression they were still deciding on what they wanted to do, in which case, 13+ months is a ridiculous amount of time to decide. That's besides the fact though. All I'm asking for at this point is a public decree that paperclip trades are allowed in the TC so that EVERYONE can see it, like we were all promised. I really don't think that's much to ask for at all.

That's unfortunate. I didn't think it was so hard to add that simply as a bullet-point in a thread, at the minimum?? I hate being in the dark about things like this. I'm sure other members are in the dark about this.

Personally, it's so distasteful to keep information like this just in the modbox, not publicly. I don't like paperclip trades, but I despise that there are no public announcements about this.

I love being left in the dark for a year and a couple months.

Yeah, getting an official public statement would be nice. As I reread the community input thread it has some stuff in it that basically boils down to "we don't want to put effort into figuring out when 1sb offer for things ends (like for junk someone has no use of) and begging starts" and they just slapped the button at us and called it a day.

Which honestly pisses me off, because between the influx of clearly underage players thanks to tiktok, the general degeneracy of market thanks to beggars/paperclips and the lack of properly trained and paid moderating staff for all time zones this game is pretty much getting worse and worse. Especially with people who suggest to make it more like wolvden, which isn't as popular as lioden because it's too hard to be a casual no stress fun to play on lunch break or to relax with after work.

A lot of users are leaving due to small grievances, just like this lack of public statement. And it's a lot of older players that had kept this game running for years before it blew out of proportion. What a way to drive away early supporters by showing a complete lack of respect when they ask for something as simple as rules clarification.

personally i loathed this due none of it was this bad till they let this happened to ur wonderful community liked all the rest of us worked hard to get where we are and not to break the rules seems unfair and makes us feel liked we not important enough or they do not cared about their game or community anymore why asked us for opinoins if they do the fixed the hardest issues that are fix able and can be, they said they were going to do something about it but no news post honestly were they lying to us then... if they decided to changed their minds on doing nothing and do not want to they have a huge responablity to let us know at least...
