Two males? Nire pondered for a moment before responding.She isn't alone. She scoffed, looking a bit annoyed but mostly hurt. The creamy katanga with red paint is a friend, I guess. She gestured his face markings by dragging her paw across her eye. Pulling her paw back to the ground she noticed a ruffed up and bloody bit so she licked it clean. Cocking her head a bit she responded to the rest of the lionesses questions. Well, that friend of hers rolled me like I was a serval. Felt like I was being crusted by a buffalo. She snarled before starting a bit when some other lioness sat beside her.

Looking cautiously between the two she slowly, groomed her leg a bit. Didn't seem like they were friends with that hiss from Mr. Weird. I didn't even get an apology from the guy. Sneaking up on us, he obviously saw the cubs and just goes and roars at us! She slams her paw down on the dry dirt causing a puff of dust. Roaring wasn't the best way to greet strangers much less get their attention. It was used territorially to threaten strangers and communicate with the pride. I was justified in how I acted. She knew well how quickly a male could kill cubs, first hand. She knew she did what was right for them. Chuffing she bit her tongue, not wanting to bore these strangers with her venting. Uhh. She cleared her throat, trying to engage them a bit. So, what did the other male look like? I haven't seen any males around for a few moon cycles?

Cobra noticed the lions and shot up quicky in a panic. He slowy croached down and made his way to a nearby bush, though his size didnt quite help him with being quite. He made his way to the bush, glancing back at them every no and then to make sure he wasnt spotted, he preferd not to mauled today.

He took the hint and turned to walk away. “I’ve been searching for you for the last several months. I’m just glad you’re alive.” He turned and continued to walk away. “If you need me, I’ll be close by, just call for me.” And with that he padded off into the trees.


Lyla | 3 years, 6 months | Bi | Mentions: Nire and the cubs, Kyran

She was very conflicted, but glad that he walked away. She turned back to the cubs. “It’s time to go. I know that was scary, but that’s why you have to listen to auntie Nire and myself.”

Nire was gone, but it was best not to tell the cubs right now. She should have moved. She should have stopped them from fighting. But she just stood there. She shook her head. Maybe if she followed Nire’s scent she could find her, but it was already fading.

She began to gather the bags, one with scraps and eggs, one with fur and feathers, one with trinkets, and the last with bones. She tied them together, two on each side, and slung it over her shoulders. She had to leave some things behind because it would slow them down. The last thing she grabbed was the beads. Those would not be forgotten.

“Alright little ones. It’s time to go.” She nudged the cubs out and began to walk in the direction of Nire’s fading scent.

He follows his mother. “But I thought we were going to go with Auntie Nire? What if she comes home and can’t find us?” He looked around, thinking he might see her. Then his mother spoke, “She’ll find us when she needs to. So come along now.” He padded off with her, drooping his head.

They followed after their mother, walking beside Rory. They were both quiet, but Vera was still panicking, "What if she doesn't find us? Maybe the scary lion scared her off?" Ronan pushed his sister, "Don't be silly- Auntie Nire is fearless!" Unlike Vera, Ronan seemed unfazed

She gave Vera a soft smile, “Ronan is right, your auntie Nire is very fierce and brave. She will be okay.” It seemed like it was a perfect time for a lesson. She looked back at the cubs, “Stick your nose in the air. What do you smell?” Rory stuck he’s nose straight up in the air, “I don’t smell anything! The wind is messing everything up!” She chuckled a little, “Try again, but ignore the wind. Let your nose guide you.” He yelled out, “A buffalo!! I smell it!” She looked to him again. “Very good. Now just like the scent of a buffalo, every living thing has a scent. It’s our job as hunters to sniff them out. And like the buffalo, I can smell Auntie Nire. But scents fade, so sometimes things get lost.”

Ronan tried, sticking his nose out and sniffing. Nire always smelt like (insert what she smells like), so Ronan tried to sniff her out. Vera tried too, "I think I smell her-with other lions? Huh." Ronan looked at Vera, bewildered, "Woah! You did that quickly!" Vera proudly flicked her tail, "I'm just a natural, y'know?"

She smiled at them, “Just because you can smell them doesn’t mean they are together. Scents mix so it can make it hard for them to be identified. Now let’s keep walking.” This was going to be a long walk with cubs and she would grow hungry quickly since she wouldn’t be able to hunt without leaving them.

Nikos | With Nire & Nyota

She tilted her head, watching the lioness get angrier the more they spoke. "Oh, she was with the other male?" Nikos grunted, that one male spoke harshly. She nodded toward the lioness, she agreeing with them. Rogue males trying to claim a new pride often kill cubs without mercy, after all... Nikos shook her head from those thoughts. "Oh! Uh, yeah, he had dark fur.. sort of looked mangy."

"Mangy?" he said to himself, "I am not mangy!" he said with a growl, he began to groom himself as the words hurt his feelings, he continued to evesdrop on the lions conversation about him. I would never hurt a cub? Thats cruel, I would fight an adult or possibly an older adolescent but never would I kill a cub, he thought to himself. He was sure his scent would lead them to him, but if they know hes here why wouldnt they confront him? Unless they didnt know, he noticed the gnawed bone he'd left behind, it was alarmingly close to long maned lioness.

Nikos | With Nire & Nyota

Nikos flicked her tail, she felt it hit something. She turned around and noticed it was a bone though she assumed it's from a hyena or a dog of some sort but it didn't smell like it was. Her face scrunched up in confusion, but she eventually shrugged and turned her attention back to the two lionesses

Dark and mangy? Nire arched a brow. How did that sound familiar? Eh, I think I have a clue as to who that is. It wasn't a fond memory and, honestly, wasn't an interaction she enjoyed recalling. As if summoning him, the wind swirled a bit and she caught the lions scent. With a groan, she pushed herself up from the ground and looked to the direction the scent was coming from. Glaring at the tall grass and bushes, seeing nothing but his scent was consistent. Don't want my rude company so bad that you just hide around in the grass? She hissed in his direction, her ears back but not flat. The idea of getting into another scuffle today was not high on her list of priorities.

He stood up "I was expecting this with you thats why I stayed hidden" he said in a quite tone "And im not mangy.." he mutterd. He had no idea what to say so he just sat like a confused cub. he began to fix the braids in his mane.
