The wind was knocked out of him as he was struck. He tried to shove the lioness off of him, but she clenched onto his neck. He batted at her a few times just trying to get her off, but she had a good grasp on him. He rolled to the ground trying to crush her to get her off. He roared out, “I’m not trying to hurt you!”


Lyla | 3 years, 6 months | Bi | Mentions: Nire and the cubs, Kyran

She stood there in shock like she just saw a ghost… because she had. Kyran was dead, she was sure of it… no lion could have escaped that fire. She whispered, still unable to move, “Kyran?…”

Location - Den | Company - Lyla's pride, Unknown male (Kyran)


The two of them thrashed about for what seemed like forever, fur and blood being kicked out during the struggle. Over all, the fight was quite brief in time as the male knocked her into the ground, crushing her with his weight. She tried her best to hold on despite having the breath forced out of her. Eventually she had to let go, gasping for air while still stuck under the male.

Shaken, once she caught her breath she pushed her for paws up on the male. With being in such a vulnerable position, Nire's aggression fairly quickly changed from aggression to desperation. She flinched as the male roared at her, hearing what he was saying but it not entirely registering in her situation. Get OFF! She roared back at him before looking for Lyla. Only to see her just standing off to the side, doing nothing.

Nothing.

Desperation turned to panic. She wasn't going to help? She was just going to watch? What was the point of her doing all this then? It was practically suicide to take on a male alone. It clicked. The male had called Lyla's name at one point and she wasn't trying to stop them? Nire shut her eyes tight in attempt to fight back darker recesses of her thoughts. After a few more moments of struggling, mentally and physically, she surrendered to the male and relaxed. I won't do anything else. She wheezed, not making eye contact. Can you get off me now?

Cobra sat up from his long nap and yawned, letting out a snort in between. He waited and waited, he knew the other lions were extremley close but decided to wait for them to confront him. He didnt want to seem a threat, so he lay down and waited some more. He beagan to chew on a bone.

He staggered off of her. “I’m not trying to hurt you. I could smell a familiar scent so I followed it not knowing where it would lead me.” He looked to Lyla, “But I’m glad I followed it.”

She spoke a little louder, “Kyran? I thought you were dead…” She shook her head and looked at Nire. “I’m sorry. I know him and I truly thought he died in a fire a few months ago.”

Nikos

She eventually got bored, so she laid down on the branch. Her tail lashed, she was anxious and confused. Who on earth would roar? Why did they roar? She knew it might've been one of the lions around, as most of the predators around were dogs or birds.

Location - Den -> Wandering | Company - Lyla's pride, Kyran -> Alone


Nire stayed laying on the ground for a bit once the male got off of her. Slowly she lifted herself from the ground as Lyla and the male, Kyran, seemed to be distracted by each other. Her ears remained back and she did not look at either of them. Snarling at Lyla's apology she got herself completely to her feet, giving herself a full body shake to free herself from some of the dust and blood. You both seem to have a lot to talk about. She said, sounding a bit rough briefly looking at the two before walking away. I am going to go clean up.

Walking towards the waterhole she broke off the path once she was out of sight of the two. Switching from a walk to a steady lope into the tall grasses. Her head was pretty blank and fuzzy while her heart burned with the feeling of betrayal. It wasn't the first time someone she thought she could trust did nothing when she needed them. Feeling the fresh and the old wounds bubbling up was not something she enjoyed. She felt stupid for getting comfortable in a pride again. Stupid for putting herself out there so honestly with no guarantee.

Once she was well enough away that her lungs felt a burn she finally stopped. Panting she stood on the spot and thought for a moment to look back but decided against it. Eventually though, she sat down heavily, the run and fight finally hitting her after the adrenaline waned. Leaning against an old dead tree she winced and finally gave herself a look over. I guess he wasn't lying. She sighed, finding herself looking roughed up, a few minor scratches and mostly just bruised and battered. It would have been a lot worse if he actually tried to fight back earnestly. The realization didn't make her feel better though.

((Had too much fun with the melodrama. Course I had to have a sad song on repeat while writing lol))

Nikos | On a tree | Approaching Nire

She finally noticed one of the lionesses around, it was the one she had met last time. There was something different though, this time the lioness seemed roughed up. The maned lioness watched as the other lioness walked further and further away, should she approach her? She debates for a little bit, before thinking... Why should she get caught up in this? Nikos shouldn't even be interested in things that don't concern her, she sighed. Perhaps it was a bit of worry and curiosity or she simply had a death wish, as every rogue knows that messing with a pissed off lion regardless of the gender, is suicide. Eventually Nikos dropped down, quietly making her way to the lioness.

He looked at her longingly. “It took everything in me to make it out of that wildfire. But I fought for my life. By the time it had fully burned out I couldn’t find you. I assumed you were devoured by the blaze.” He sighed and looked at her, knowing he couldn’t move forward.

She gazed off in the direction Nire ran off in. She was conflicted… she wanted to follow Nire, but the cubs… she couldn’t just leave them. “You can’t stay here. I can’t do this right now. You’re dead. I must be going crazy!” She snarled at him, “Leave!” She didn’t know why she was yelling for him to go. All she wanted was to be with him right now. But was it really him?

Location - Grasslands | Company - Stranger (Nikos)


Some time passed as Nire was lost in her thoughts before her mind was quiet and she simply stared out over the grasslands. As if an attempt to forget about what just happened she took notes of the land before her. The grass was dry and brittle where it was tall and chewed to the dirt where the herds had grazed. Overall all plants were brown or yellowing, with few speckles of green here and there. The earth itself was parched and still. What hit her the most was the quiet. Aside from the occasional croaking of vultures and the distance laughing of hyenas, there wasn't anything around.

And the quiet footsteps following her. Sighing, half expecting it to be Lyla, she looked back to see a male lion. At this point she was simply too tired to be surprised or alarmed. Flicking an ear a thought crossed her mind that she remembered this lion, no, lioness from before. How foolish. She huffed to herself before looking back over the grasslands. This place is worse than I thought. Being stuck in a den kept me from seeing just how bad the lands have been getting. I was always on the move before so I haven't had to deal with such a serious dry season before. I wonder if I will even be able to find any tracks from herds at this point. She rambled, filling the silence with her thoughts while partially talking to the lioness. Why are you here? She asked the lioness.

((Lol, yeah. Lyla fuuuuucked up. She might come back or might not. Haven't decided yet. Kinda flying by the seat of my pants atm ))

Her ears flattened, she never really thought a head. She sat down, a little further away from the lioness. "I honestly don't know?" Nikos side-eyed the lioness. "Call mr weird, but maybe I was a little bit concerned..?" Her tail lashed, she was a little tense. She knew this conversation could end up in a fight or an argument but she couldn't care less. She raised her head high, waiting for a response.

Nire let out a sarcastic, but tired, chuckle. Mr. Weird it is. Suiting. Her laugh slowly fell off. Giving the lioness a sideways look she studied her behavior. Awkward and unsure with a layer of confidence to try and hide it all behind. A small smile and she relaxed herself, gingerly laying on the ground with a quiet groan. Thanks for the concern, Mr. Weird. Even just the little bit of it. I'll be fine. Sore for awhile but I'll be right as rain in no time. She still wasn't sure what exactly the lioness intentions were but Nire was in no condition to posture or bluff. Best she could hope was the lioness was genuine in her concern.

She chuckled awkwardly "I'll take weird as a compliment, I think." She scratched her ears "But you look like you were flattened, no offense." She grinned at the lioness, her first genuine emotion other than anger or boredom. "And uhm, good to know you'll be alright.. considering there's two males around now and I doubt your friend could handle them alone." Nikos laid down, huffing slightly. She hopes this warning would suffice.

At once see saw Nite attac the rough male, Shadow had crept longer and loger back until she was completely out of sight. She saw the look he had on Layla and what she responded with, and she knew something was going on. And that she didn't want to be a part of it.
After she was out of sight she started running. Old feeling welled up in her, and she became scared. Could they not be safe anywhere? So lost in her own thoughts, she didn't see the male she literally ran into.

Nyota was watching afar, very confused and intrigued about what was happening. She crept closer, seeing that Nikos and Nire were talking with eachother. Seeing this as peace, she walked over, sitting next to Nire, "Don't mind me" she said

"Mama?" Vera whimpered as she was plopped into the den once again. All the cubs seemed bewildered, scared, and confused. Ronan peaked out, spotting the giant male. This was his first time seeing a adult male lion, and they were...Scary. He had a gentle look on his face, but that didn't stop the lionesses from attacking him. Ronan jumped and stuck his head back inside the den. Vera was crouched in the corner of the den, whimpering. Ronan would've comforted his sister, but was too engrossed of what was happening. when he stuck his head back out, they seemed to be talking, but it was still scary. "What's happening?" Vera squeaked, Ronan didn't look back, "I...I think they know eachother"

Her ears twitched at the sound of a familiar voice, Nikos nearly let out a hiss. She slowly turned around to face the lioness next to her, she gulped. "Uh, alright" she focused back to the other lioness, the one slightly in front of her.
