The Stork looked a bit offended being called stupid. It snapped its beak at the cub when lunged at but slowly walked away, calling a bit when Nire let out a low hiss at the bird. Her tail thudded on the ground hard before she returned to grooming. Idly watching the cubs try and eat the meat she looked when she heard steady footsteps approaching. Butting heads with Lyla, she stood and stretched, looking at the bone on the ground while listening to her. Several? Where did they all come from? She asked, not expecting an answer. She was sure that maned lioness was alone when they crossed paths. It is a bit early, but we can take it slow and rotate carrying them when they get tired. If rouges are gathering at carcasses the herds must have moved on earlier than usual. It was a shame that they were still such a small pride and could stand their ground here. I'll start packing Giving the news to the cubs would be Lylas job, though she doubted the cubs would complain. They knew nothing of hardships. Yet.

She nearly bit the lionesses tail, but she missed. Growling softly she walked towards the water "I'm not stupid. I know my limits." Though, did she really? She did want to fight the other lioness, she just wanted to prove her damn point. She flopped down in front of the water, annoyed and angrier than ever.

She nodded and turned to the cubs. “Well, it’s time for us to find a new home. It might be a long journey, but you have us to help you along the way. Just remember that you can’t be carried all the time.” She gave the cubs a sheepish smile. “We’re gonna leave in the morning little ones.”

She padded over the Nire again. “Hopefully if they get enough rest they will be able to travel longer.”

She watched her reflection, groaning. She lowered her head to her paws, her mind drifting to the other lionesses she met here. That marks up about three, and two males. However she'd rather forget about the males, she didn't really care about them.

Looking over her shoulder she smirked. Oh, they have done nothing but rest. They will be fine. Nire grabbed some bags she had been working on from out of the cave and laid down with some sinew threads to finish up what she could. It probably will be for the better. I haven't seen any larger prey for a week now. I, for one, can't survive on eggs and rabbits. Their little bones give me a terrible stomach ache. She said as she delicately tied off some knots. Really, Rory? If you complain too much I'll carry you the whole way, by your head. By the time we get to the greener lands you will have a neck of a giraffe! She joked, though paused and realized he probably had never seen a giraffe before. Or you will be bald like the Marabou. No ladies will want you as a maneless. She chuckled, pulling a string tight with her teeth.

He screamed and jumped behind Lyla, “I’ll be good! I promise! I won’t complain!” He didn’t want his neck to grow!

He jumped on his sister and bit her ear, acting like nothing had even happened.

She laughed at the sight in front of her. “She’s just teasing you Rory.” She mouthed ‘thank you’ to Nire. Padding over the the entrance of the den she pulled down the beads, “These definitely have to come with us.”

She went over and grabbed a mouthful of red berries, crushing them on the ground and placing her paw in the juice. “Let’s leave our mark on this den.” She looked to the cubs and Nire and placed her juice covered paw on the wall and smiled at them. Rory stopped biting his sister and sloppily placed his paw print on the wall… and then another one… and another one… and another one… “That’s enough paw prints!” Lyla laughed at him as he placed yet another one on the wall.

The scent of cubs reached his nose as he padded on. There seemed to be a den a little ways in front of him. He let out a low roar, trying to announce his presence and not alarm the lions.

Me? Tease? Never. Nire said, snarling but trying her best to hide a grin. With the cubs distracted by painting the walls she took the opportunity to put some of the final touches on the bags before getting up herself. She sat beside Lyla, about to put her own paw in the berry stain when she heard one of the worst sounds possible.

Lion roar.

Her shoulders bristled as she whipped around and seeing the male lion very quickly. This time, this was no female with a mane, it was definitely a male. With her heart beat hammering in her ears she mock charged at him, stopping after only getting a few strides from Lyla and the cubs. With her teeth bared, snorting and snarling, her claws extended and body trembling with anticipation she let out a savage roar at the male. LEAVE! She roared laying herself against the ground, growling and snarling. Poised and ready to fight the male if he so much as moved towards them. There wasn't much for thoughts going through her head at the moment, only to get this intruder away from the cubs.

She watched as the cubs practically covered themselves in the berry juice. How was there that much? She laughed and smiled at Nire.

Lion roar.

Nire shot out of the cave. She shoved the cubs in the nest. “Stay here! I need you to stay and not come out! You hear me!?” She yelled at the cubs frantically and charged our after Nire. She snarled along side her friend. This male would not kill her cubs.

He watched as the two lionesses charged out. Obviously he had alarmed them. He could understand why they were so on edge with the cubs. “I mean you no harm! I prom-“ he stopped in the middle of his sentence. “L-Lyla?”

Her head snapped up, the roar had surprise her. What on earth was happening today? Her tail lashes as she lays near the water confused, eventually she decided to find out. Running off, she found a tree nearest to where she heard the roar. She jumped up at fast speeds, easily hopping up from one branch to the next. She squinted, looking around but she couldn't see nor figure out why a lion would roar so savagely.

Words were not what Nire wanted from the male as whatever he was saying was easily drowned out by her pounding heartbeat. She jumped a bit when Lyla came up beside her but quickly focused back on the male. I said LEAVE! She roared again, taking his standing there like an idiot as dismissive behavior. If only he backed away, she may have taken a moment to reevaluate the situation but just standing there meant she had to show him just how serious she was.

Launching herself at him, she covered the ground between them quickly. Charging her full body into the male, she splayed her claws and wrapped herself around his torso, pinning her ears and squinting her eyes she dug her teeth into his mane. Unsure whether she reached any flesh on his neck, she still committed to the the attack. Knowing her weight was no where the same as the male, she simply held onto him like she would any zebra or wildebeest though her positioning left her open to the males own teeth and claws. However her most vital areas were generally out of his reach.
