⋆⺠Strange Yam âºâ‹† [Your lioness] takes a cautious nibble, before enthusiastically digging in. She licks her lips gratefully, rolling to her side. It seems like something interesting has happened... Use this on your lioness to guarantee a set of two identical twin cubs. ⟡ . Ýâ‚Š ⊹ . ÝË– . Ý . Ýâ‚Š ⊹ . ÝË– . Ý âŸ¡ . Ýâ‚Š ⊹ . ÝË– . Ý . Ýâ‚Š ⊹ . ÝË– . Ý⟡ ⥠Mechanics It might be easiest if the identical twin overwrites another cub in the breeding to avoid extra-large litters. However, this risks overwriting a mutated cub. Maybe the Strange Yam should roll after all other breeding items? ⥠Connection to In-Game Features → Grain of Paradise Similarities Some might say this is a reskinned GOP, but I'd argue it adds a fun roulette of "wow, what will I get?" when breeding lions together, especially for rosettes (and if not too OP, mutations!) If an event item, the price for Strange Yams should match or be slightly higher than the GOP item cost because it also guarantees two cubs. → Mutation Breeding This item has a few options for mutation breeding according to how the admins see fit. If it's deemed too OP to be able to "twin" a mutated cub, I like the idea of one having the mutation and the other being identical ASIDE from the mutation. I think this is also very aligned with reality as real-life identical twins can have differing mutations. Like, maybe it doesn't affect mutation rolls whatsoever - theoretically, every cub could roll muts regardless of its "twin" having or not having a mutation. I think this is the best path forward. → Crunchy Worm Usage Using a Strange Yam with a Crunchy Worm could result in two cubs being clones of the lioness, like two full RLCs. Proper RNG settings allowing this chance could make this a strong selling point. If that's too complex, breeding for favorite markings would still be appealing. Admins might prefer it to be a Crunchy OR Strange Yam scenario, but I’m okay with that. → Rosette Passing If the lion(ess) has many rosettes, this item could be great—if one twin inherits rosettes, you would get a 2-for-1 rosette offspring deal. ⥠Inspiration: "Yams are a rich source of progesterone and phytoestrogens, which may lead to hyper-ovulation. Therefore, the high amount of yams in human diets was reported as a probable cause of twin or multiple births." The above is underresearched and often seen as a wives' tale, but I think it’s a fun and simple way to add breeding items without causing major balance issues and remaining in the realm of reality! ⥠Creator's Notes My concept might be silly, but I think it could be fun and exciting. Let me know what you think, and feel free to share any disagreements - I love finding workarounds and solutions! |

I can see how it would be fun at first glance but I just feel adding mutations won't be balanced we already have so many mutie boosting items, I feel like we don't really need more, I like exploring other items that don't have to mess with mutation chance 2 players like this post! Like? |

Pinenut, it wouldnt be a mutie breeding item, but it would be COMBINED, with a mutie item. Like the item on itself doesnt make muties, but lion meat, gmo, lion scrote, etc, can trigger a twin set of muties, or twins with 1 mutie one normal or just 2 normal ones Like its a split chance of 3 or something? 1 player likes this post! I'm aware it would be combined, I just feel like messing with the mutie market more than it already has been just wouldn't be good for the economy the fun part of not including muties is that mutation would not be tied to twinning, so you could potentially have twins with two different mutations! 1 player likes this post! you also wouldn't risk overriding a rarer mutation with a twin if mutations weren't linked to the item 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Honestly idont know what to think of this. As someone who doesn't often have the time to buy breeding items or doesn't bother with it I don't really see the point in it, plus the price would skyrocket with it being new. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

That's understandable! Obviously it won't be for everyone, as it is with a lot of things and everything new skyrockets in price to be fair, but normally it lowers with a more steady price point with time! People who do enjoy using breeding items I feel will have fun with an item like this c: 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Silver, thank you so much for expressing your opinion! It's a good point that people who aren't interested in breeding items wouldn't like a breeding item. I also think the point stands though that quite a large variety of people breed using such items, including myself (I exclusively breed Chased NCLs only with CRBs and use a Buffalo scrot and Black Stallion every time one of my hybrids has a heat.) I can understand how as someone who doesn't often bother with breeding items you might feel this way. However, Xylax (#4, site artist) specifically requested/hoped for people to come up with new breeding items and post them on the development board yesterday if they had ideas for them. So, I came up with an idea! Price definitely goes up for a very short amount of time, but as I said, because it functions as a GOP with the twins concept + other item concept benefits , the price will likely be normalized at GOP price/slightly above, and GOPs are not incredibly expensive. It's not like I make money off them - I want them to be as cheap as possible! But that is the reality here. 0 players like this post! Like? |

:) Everyone else who recently commented - Pinenut, Anaraktu, etc. I have zero problem with leaving that up to admin decision re: mut inclusion. I think it could be a SUPER cool feature if it applies to mut breeding, and a unique support item in that regard. It would probably make it much more expensive, so it really depends on what the admins are looking for in a breeding item. It would probably be more complex and harder to code - but I have no clue! On the other hand, I think we previously discussed that it could be awesome all on its own - breeding lions who have cool markings together and seeing what you get. I personally love breeding crb'd Chased NCLs exclusively as "keepers" and chasing offspring of muts and other lions even though Chaseds are harder to find/more expensive than regular NCLs because I love the randomness of getting different markings together and seeing what passes and what doesn't! Man at the end of the day I just love breeding funky little guys and i think this item would make the experience even more fun ROFL 0 players like this post! Like? |

I like the idea, but it wouldn't be able to stay as it is. I can't exactly remember the reasons why (could be just wanting to give us at least a little bit of a challenge), but there can't be any items that guarantee muts/clones. This is because of the small handful of players who have the means to breed lions with Yohimbe Barks several times a day. I fear adding an item like this would destroy the value of these lions because within the first day, there'd be hundreds of new x4, x5, etc rosette lions and hybrids. However, I love the name and item concept as a whole. I really hope they take a look at this and maybe could incorporate this idea into the game in a way that won't cut a massive hole in my wallet and screw over years of effort from breeders like myself. I also love the art! One of the most thought out suggestions I've seen. 4 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/09/24 @ 07:08:01 by m3rcymassacr3 (#162708) |

I think they should overlap with crunchies! That would definetly make them sell more! Yams seem like they could be an April event item too! like the roasted lambs, roasted yams 1 player likes this post! Like? |

OMG I never considered that, M3rcymassacre3. However, I don't think that applies here, ONLY because the only guarantee is that there is a "clone" of a *cub* in the litter. That cub (that the twin is a "clone" of) has zero guarantee of being a RLC or a mut or even having a rosette - that is fully up to other items & RNG in general. If that makes sense? Hopefully I am also understanding you. However if I'm misunderstanding and your comment does apply, I have zero problem with this idea evolving to allow balanced gameplay, and I think no matter what the stipulations, I'd be happy to see an idea of mine take off <3 0 players like this post! Ohh okay, that makes it a lot more clear. Having it paired with a Crunchy can still be a little too much, just because of the value 1 RLC has. As someone who's bred and cloned them, I can fail crunchy breedings 5 or 6 times before I get a clone which is hundreds down the toilet but rlcs are so valuable just 1 successful pass immediately covered the cost of all the failures as well as earning me hundreds (enough to trade for a gen1 jag). If it was possible, even extremely rare, for me to get 2 clones in one litter, that would be wayyy too much success. Even if it would make my entire month. I do see this being a lot more usable in game though, if it was a 'Crunchy Worm OR Yam" thing. You wouldn't be able to use both, but you'd be getting 2 of the same cubs. Could be a massive failure that takes months to recover from, or a huge success that boosts your account greatly. Which is how all high profile breeding items should be haha 1 player likes this post!
