Nomads Of The Horizon
A wolf roleplay

The Rules

I. All LioDen Roleplay Rules apply.

II. No godmodding, powerplaying, gary/mary issues, etc.

III. Posts should be in third-person and past-tense, and players are expected to use correct spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation to the best of their abilities. At least a paragraph is required.

IV. We know that life can get in the way sometimes, but please, if you know beforehand that you won't be able to post for a while, let us all know!

V. Fade to black when necessary. I suppose you all get it by now.

VI. Please be polite to everyone OOC. If there is any problem with other members of the roleplay, i would like you to let me or moderators know rather than creating something unnecessary.

VII. You cannot harm or kill another character without making the action an attempt.

VIII. For the most part we are a realistic wolf roleplay; the only fantasy elements should be the characters’ “humanized” personalities and their ability to speak. This means no magical abilities, accessories, or unnatural physical traits (wings, horns, etc).

IX. We encourage you to 'follow the current'; Not knowing what will happen makes the roleplay more interesting and fun, reason why we attempt to avoid OOC plotting. "Character A should meet Character B" is acceptable. "Character A and character B should become mates and start a pack" is not.

X. There will be no formed packs at the beginning. These will be created throughout the roleplay, and to do so, a minimum of five wolves with a common goal assemble and claim a land as their territory. In order for the pack to be accepted, the player of the lead wolf should PM me to receive the pack creation form, and send it back will all the information needed. As for now, we believe that three packs would be a good maximum, though this can change in the future depending on how many members join. Also, please don't create packs right away. Your wolf should take their time to know who their pack-mates will be, to say the least.

XI. New Rule. Things made by man, such as buildings, roads, etc., are non-existent in the lands of Greylea, and there will be no interaction between wolves and humans. Please ignore any constructions that the references show.

XI. New Rule. Please put at the beginning of each post a 'header'. This is used to avoid confussion and to have a more organized post. Stating who your character is interacting with and their location is extremely important, also for the mentioned reasons. An example:

Shadow | Female | 4 years | Wanderer
Western Grasslands | Mentions: None / Open

Shadow had found herself wandering straight into something she had been wishing for. A rabbit burrow. Her eyes lit up a little. Whilst her black fur wouldn't really help her in keeping camouflaged, she reckoned she could catch something if there were any rabbits in there, or any that were going to come back. The melanistic female set herself down just behind the burrow, hoping that anything that would come out wouldn't spot her until it was too late. Being a large wolf, stealth wasn't exactly her thing. So just sitting or laying in wait for something to be dumb was her usual approach. She could do other things, though, and had even had a go at catching a deer alone. It hadn't exactly worked out... but that was the past, she could forget about that.

After Shadow waited a couple minutes or so, something decided it was going to come out and get active. She watched as it poked out its head from beneath the ground and she lashed out as swiftly as possible, whacking its head as hard as she could. Luckily for her, strength was her strong point. And her puns were always unintentional. The rabbit had been too slow to retreat and was now facing its doom. She stuck her muzzle partly into the den so she could grab the rabbit and make sure it was dead and just about closed her jaws around its head softly. There hadn't been much space there, which was worrying. She might have gotten her snout stuck, which wouldn't have been good at all. At least she'd caught the rabbit, though. Setting it down, she bit down a little harder around its neck, then let go again and began to eat. Lucky. She hoped some other rabbit would come by or leave the burrow, if there were other rabbits at all. Then she would be extra lucky.

Éric | Male | 4 years | Wanderer
Northern Icelands | Mentions: None / Open

Éric stopped himself from letting out a joyful cry when he came across what appeared to be some sort of dead animal. He couldn't imagine anything from this land dying, really. Most creatures had adapted to their cold surroundings and had survived, right? Perhaps something else had killed it or maybe it had been ill. Either way, he was eating it for sure. No way was he going to abandon whatever this small thing was. The male approached, not even sniffing at the deceased creature before digging in hungrily. It was cold. But it was also food. He ate until there wasn't much left of the cold thing. His jaws had only the slight traces of blood upon them, but not anything you would easily notice upon a first glance. Now just to find shelter, huh? Probably wouldn't be much here. Maybe he could find something to rest in for a second. Maybe a bunch of trees - a burrow if he was lucky. That would be excellent. But with his luck, doubtful.

Venus | Female | 2 years, 8 months | Wanderer
Location: Eastern Plains | Mentions: Nivalis, Asaroth

A nod was given in assurance at the male's (Nivalis) words. "Cooperation.", she'd repeat before her gaze followed his', locking her eyes on the sweetheart wolf. She rolled her eyes as several pawsteps were marked on his way, unknowingly situating herself between the two. Were males more competitive than females, she wondered. "Both will have to change your attitudes, if you are hungry enough. You may be in good conditions, though i bet you are tired of chasing mice.", she referred to the blue-eyed male, who seemed to be the one less pleased with the idea of working together. Venus, however, didn't quite loved the offer that had crossed her mind, which included team-work between strangers and possibilities of being attacked, or that they ran away with the prey, if they catched any in the future.

"I've heard wonderful things about the western lands, promissing words that assure it's one of the best places, if not the best, to hunt and live. I'm pretty sure that our chances of a full belly would increase there. After that, we can each say our goodbyes and disappear, if that's what you want.", she'd say with the most persuasive voice she could have. Of course, Venus was not as stupid as to believe that it would be easy, though she preferred to only say what they wanted to hear.

OOC: Lmao, sorry, Sierra. I think it's better now. And yes, of course! ^-^

Kairos | Southern Woodlands | Loner | Ment: beaaaar / Open

Patience won the races. The dwarf stood just close enough to the bear, knowing fully well that the bear knew he wouldn't try anything. He gave a small yawn, settling down onto his belly, watching the bear eat the deer with almost infinite patience. Mentally, he was calculating where to gnaw at first. The bear obviously was going for meat, so he could try to get at marrow... And there were scraps still left when the bear finally finished.

Kairos waited until the bear lumbered back into the brush, likely going after berries or some other food, before darting forwards, licking and gnawing on scraps for a decent amount of time. To him, it was a fine meal. He even made off with a bone in his mouth to chew on later! The dwarf trotted off, going to a nice scream he spotted through his travels, dropping the bone on a rock before starting to lap at water, scanning in front of him for fish or company.

Nivalis | Male | 2 years, 1 months | Wanderer
Location: Eastern Plains | Mentions: Venus, Asaroth

Nivalis thought for a moment. A chance of better food. Contrary to many of his family's belief, Nivalis wasn't against cooperation. He'd always known its clear advantages in survival. The female wasn't suggesting they stay together. He could work with that. He sat down, wrapping his fluffy tail around his paws. Okay. He answered, surprising himself with how evenly he talked. I suppose it's a good plan. For now. Nivalis glanced fleetingly towards the female, and then towards the other male. He was the one who sealed the decision. If he decided against it, nothing would happen. If they agreed... They'd walk away from the plains as a temporary trio.

Nivalis reviewed his decision. What were the downsides of this? He wondered. There were plenty, but Nivalis didn't quite enjoy thinking about them. Again, he thought of all the opportunities for betrayal, yet, although he was often a pessimist, the only thought that overpowered all the others was the fact that with three, they could take down large prey, even a moose if they were lucky. Wolves were good at tactics, but these tactics were useless with one.

OOC: I feel like there should be prey that are a little more filling then rabbits, but less then deer. Like a grouse, or another type of land bird.

"IMAGE EDITED - Moderator removed image due to lack of source"
Hades | Male | 4 years, 1 month | Loner
Location: Southern Woodlands | Mentions: Lilith, Gaya, Kairos

Hades watched as the female (Gaya) left in frustration, rolling his eyes with a growl. He turned to his mate and was about to properly great her when he heard a moaning noise, identifying it as a bear's typical tone. He groaned in annoyance and frustrstion, turning to face the larger creature, a small black bear. The stubborn brute growled at the beast, but was disappointed as he looked at Lilith. She had ripped a leg off the dead deer before backing up, waiting for him and he huffed with disappointment, turning his back on the bear walking towards his kill. Damn loners. Damn bear. Why did they have to show up and ruin his day? He growled as he ripped a leg off, as was what his mate did - he thought it'd be better to have two legs - before walking towards Lilith. He looked back just in time to see the best begin eating his Kill and growled again with frustrstion before exiting the scene with his mate. He looked at her in frustration, "Well, our meal was ruined." he said deeply with a huff, a small apologetic tone in his masculine voice. That tiny male had probably gone back to eat whatever was left of Hades' deer when the stupid bear has left. Argh..

OOC: I'm gonna die because this is so short and late. Hell/prison/school/whatever started today D:

Kairos | Southern Woodlands | Loner | Ment: Luma

The sound of someone approaching had Kairos' ears flick in that direction, his head soon following. Another wolf, again? And when he looked over, this one was distinct from the ones he saw from that deer carcass. How could he have gone this long and not see a single soul, and suddenly in one day see a whole pack? Madness.

She did have a fox carcass, for some reason. Huh. "Hello," he responded, a bit wary, even his cracked as he said that, but slowly, something seemed to click through his mind.

"Quite a catch. Fancy a trade?" He raised an eyebrow, looking at the bone on the rock and back at the wolf. Might as well make the most of the meeting.

Luma pondered the thought of a trade. Her belly was full, and she had no further need for the carcass. This new wolf looked pretty thin too.And that bone did have some meat scraps.

"Yes,yes I think I do."Luma replied. She picked the fox carcass back up and set it down in front of the other wolf, and took the bone. She gnawed on one end.

"So what may your name be?"Luma asked.

OOC: °_° This may sound strange, but is it furry???

Karael l Northern Icelands l Mentions: Graylethe, Xerxes

This male did not seem half mad, which was a marked improvement over the last. Not, Karael thought, that that was any particular accomplishment on this wolf's behalf.

Still, he seemed agitated in spite of his good humor, and Karael kept an ear cocked toward the sparse wood for Iriel's return as he sank to his haunches in the snow. His jaw lolled open, briefly, in a sly, toothy grin at the male's confusion, but it was the second question that he answered, "No, though the trail is fresher further on. It has the smell of a herd."

"They're moving south," he offered as he leveled a thoughtful gaze on the larger male--who seemed almost comically determined to smile, ears and eyes and tail be damned--and rumbled, "As they ought in rut. If it's them you're following, you're close enough-"

The howl rang through the trees and the stone, robbed of much of its power by the wind and the land itself, but Karael heard it clearly enough for all that, and huffed out a long snort at the warning it contained. But he breathed in deeply nonetheless, and tasted the ice on the wind, and added, "But you might be better served following them later if there's a storm coming."

Iriel sang out, high, querulous, and very close by indeed. Karael tipped his nose into the air to sing back, a low, smooth swell of sound that carried his command back to Iriel: Come.

Jaws stretching wide in a toothy yawn, he snapped them shut and said as if he'd never been interrupted, "They'll be sheltering too."

Ahtrek|Male|3 Years 7 Months|Wanderer| Eastern Plains
Mentions: Moon

Ahtrek could sense that he had hit a ping in her sociable demeanor, but apparently not enough to truly strike any damage. A huff sighed from is large lungs, showing a bit of annoyance at this female's eagerness to accompany him on whatever it is that he was doing. But still, he grew more amused on her compliance, yellow pools eyeballing her slender grey frame once more, watching the light crisp of a breeze gently tug a piece of her coat towards the opposite direction. I've met worse, I suppose.." The large male sighed, showing some sort of patience for her, muscles rippling under his thick charcoal coat as the male strengthened his core to move around. His jaws faced a particular direction, nothing special of it by chance, but his rubbery-like nose began to wiggle around here and there obviously sniffing about. His right ear flickered in acknowledgement to the female's question of action. For a moment he seemed locked, the answer was unclear for he truly was just passing through. No path or route was in his demise but if his guess was as certain,... The area of the Northern Icelands would speak of interest if it were true that herds were migrated there. Sniffing the crisps breeze again to try and detect any traceable era, the elk herds were simply faint here. However; it was Autumn and it was the oncoming debridement of mating season for the elk. This would surely work in a wolf's favor, for the bucks would be so pumped up with testosterone that they will barely eat yet alone sleep, making the weak easy pickings. Glancing at the female know, he figured she would know a little more about the herds. " Wherever the herds are, have you seen any or can guess where they have gone?" He shifted on his sturdy frame, the jagged stones of the terrain was slowly penetrating his soft paw pads.

Name: Sparrow | Gender:Female | Age: Around 5 years | Location: Eastern Plains
Mentions: Zeriko

Sparrow shrugged standing up and stretching once more, this time in a cat-like are, her claws coming out lightly more then when relaxed showing how dull and cracked from her many years of living in the harsh environment. "anything to get you to stop acting like you know everything about the plains."

" what did you just say?" She huffed the slight rumbling of a growl added a more hostile tone, ignoring his first comment (and hoping he would do the same unless he wanted mice and small none-venomous lizards to be his last meal).
"But it does show that your clearly stupid enough to travel from one of the other lands in mid-Autumn and not expect to overheat, here the weather doesn't change." holding her ears erect position and tail high, showing she knew what she was talking about. "no snow,no leaves changing color, just scorching heat and bland browns." ignoring his last comment because it didn't make sense to her,she stalk to walk away. "Come on, if you want that large prey so badly."

Zeriko ‡ Male ‡ Loner ‡ 3yrs 5 Months ‡ Location: Eastern Plains ‡ Mentions: Sparrow

Zeriko made sure that both his ears or eyes didn't deceive him at first. 'Did she just agreed on coming with me?' A smile formed on his features as his orbs were narrowed at her. A silent chuckle escaped between his lips. He crossed the stones with long strides, to keep up his pace. "You know, you have quite an unusal personality." Destroying the silence between them. A breeze ruffled his fur, it felt good as it touched against his skin, cooling him a bit from the heat he had to handle with half the day. If it weren't for sparrow's scent, he would have laid lifeless on the stones. Now he would have to thank her for this moment. But a dark thought entered his head. He tried to ignore it as much as possible. 'You sure are weak, having to need another wolf to take care of you.' Zeriko shook his head. He knew it wasn't true.

He stopped for a moment, his nose picked up the scent of elk. His brain sent a shocking wave towards his muscles and his nerves. His paws were aching to run, his fangs ready to peirce between its flesh and skin, as his claws were ready to tear. It wasn't to far away nor nearby. He turned to looked at the female. "Can you smell it?" He asked with excitement. What was more exciting was that it was a female elk. His heart was pounding as his excitement grew. The male gave out a silent growl, his orbs were locked at the direction where the female elk was at. "Let's go before it goes back to its herd. We can't loose this one chance of a meal."

He took off. Silently across the rocks, making sure he didn't stepped on any loosed or broken stones which may alert the elk. He was no longer paying attention to the she-wolf. His desire to hunt was all that matters. He couldn't bear to loose this hunt. Once he was near the elk's location, his orbs narrowed and locked at the target. The young male wolf lowered himself into a crounch. His body flatten against the ground, tail flatten, ears flatten against his skull, and shifting his weight on his rear legs. He studied his surroundings. If they were going to play tag with the elk, they must definitely lead it towards some sort of trap in case if things get out of hand. He was grateful for his sharp eye sight. Right beyond the Eastern Plains, was somehow open which could cause someone to fall in and with the great amount of speed could cause enough damage to either of three: the neck bone, the legs, or the spine. He looked at Sparrow, finally returning his attention to her. "Look to east, do you see an opening where there is some sort of wide hole on the ground. It's not very deep by the looks of it. It's mostly surrounded by rocks and stones." He hoped she could see catch sight of it. "If we have to run in order to keep it from escaping, we will have to block its escape. We have to stand on the side and if it's intellegence is high, and makes a surprising stop one of us need to have a high level of agility." He gave a sigh. "Or we cqn just follow our instincts. Im starting to use my mother's complicated hunting plans while hunting down big prey." He mumbled, not really caring if the she-wolf heard him or not.
