Nomads Of The Horizon
A wolf roleplay

The Rules

I. All LioDen Roleplay Rules apply.

II. No godmodding, powerplaying, gary/mary issues, etc.

III. Posts should be in third-person and past-tense, and players are expected to use correct spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation to the best of their abilities. At least a paragraph is required.

IV. We know that life can get in the way sometimes, but please, if you know beforehand that you won't be able to post for a while, let us all know!

V. Fade to black when necessary. I suppose you all get it by now.

VI. Please be polite to everyone OOC. If there is any problem with other members of the roleplay, i would like you to let me or moderators know rather than creating something unnecessary.

VII. You cannot harm or kill another character without making the action an attempt.

VIII. For the most part we are a realistic wolf roleplay; the only fantasy elements should be the characters’ “humanized” personalities and their ability to speak. This means no magical abilities, accessories, or unnatural physical traits (wings, horns, etc).

IX. We encourage you to 'follow the current'; Not knowing what will happen makes the roleplay more interesting and fun, reason why we attempt to avoid OOC plotting. "Character A should meet Character B" is acceptable. "Character A and character B should become mates and start a pack" is not.

X. There will be no formed packs at the beginning. These will be created throughout the roleplay, and to do so, a minimum of five wolves with a common goal assemble and claim a land as their territory. In order for the pack to be accepted, the player of the lead wolf should PM me to receive the pack creation form, and send it back will all the information needed. As for now, we believe that three packs would be a good maximum, though this can change in the future depending on how many members join. Also, please don't create packs right away. Your wolf should take their time to know who their pack-mates will be, to say the least.

XI. New Rule. Things made by man, such as buildings, roads, etc., are non-existent in the lands of Greylea, and there will be no interaction between wolves and humans. Please ignore any constructions that the references show.

XI. New Rule. Please put at the beginning of each post a 'header'. This is used to avoid confussion and to have a more organized post. Stating who your character is interacting with and their location is extremely important, also for the mentioned reasons. An example:

Excellent. Now at least he had something for the next few days, especially if he found a good place to cache it- he'd be set for when he was going to be hungry again. Though, where would be cache his meal? Choices, choices...

Did she ask for his name? He took a moment to consider it, if she was so kind to get tricked out of a carcass for a bone, what else could he do? Hmm, having her stay around would be beneficial to him.

"Kairos," He said, though his name sounded more like a cough than anything, "... Have you seen packs lately? Too many wolves around for there not... to be a few."

----
No, actually, lol. That's my commission stuff.

Moon | Female | 3 Years, 7 Months | Wanderer | Eastern Plains | Mentions: Ahtrek

She could tell that the large male was annoyed, but amused by her as well. That's better than just annoyed. She turned her muzzle up towards the taller wolf, 'I don't have much experience.. But since it's coming into winter, I assume they'd be going towards somewhere with more grazing.. So... The grasslands?' She guesses, hoping he wouldn't be mad that she didn't know. She lifted her tail a little, and let it wag slowly, it was dawning on her that she had a friend.. Sort of. She looked up towards the larger wolf, waiting for his reaction, her muscles were tensed in case he tired of her company.

(Sorry it's late, I couldn't think what to write, so it's short as well)

Ahtrek|Male|3 Years 7 Months|Wanderer| Eastern Plains
Mentions: Moon

For once, irritation or annoyance didn't strike the male's maw, for she was right. Although it was Autumn, Winter was surely right around the corner and the herds would be more persuaded to travel to a heavy gill of grazing areas to fuel for energy. He stood upright into a tall stature, rimmed ears perked highly to listen to other trespassing the thin hair fibers that help detect other sounds. Fiery pools glaring towards the south were evidence of grass were sure to be plentiful. An acute wiggle of his nostrils, and he received confirmation for the stale scent of elk was actually pinpointing to around that location.

His thoughts became distracted as he could feel the faint drift of air brushing forcefully against his thick coat; it was the wagging of the grey female's tail. He simply rolled the thought around his shoulders, somebody had to be the free spirit around here and it surely wasn't going to be him. Hunger began to ebb away around his organs, his energy slowly depleting, " Well we better get a move on." His voice was filled with more urgency, he was beginning to grow hungry and was now taking silent steps towards the Western Grasslands only shortening his long stride so that this smaller female could catch up.

(( It's alright, I tend to forget my time zone is very different from most. x.x))

She smiled up at him, her tail still wagging slowly. When she saw his nose moving, she decided to scent the air herself. Her nose twitched a little as she inhaled, the stale scent of elk came to her as well. 'Yeah, lets get going,' she nodded before shaking out her fur, and trotting at a reasonable pace up to him. 'So, what's your name?' She asked casually, getting to know a wolf she was travelling with couldn't hurt. She looked towards him as she waited for his answer. Her ear slowly rotated backwards, listening for anything that might be following them.

Name: Sparrow | Gender:Female | Age: Around 5 years | Location: Eastern Plains
Mentions: Zeriko

Sparrow huffed, continuing without looking at the wolf beside her. "Yeah I get that a lot."
When the breeze ruffled her fur, she sighed in relief, a cool breeze was rare in the regain, normally it was just hot air moving, making the situation even worse.
The brown she-wolf stopped taking in a deep breathe through her nose, holding it in a slowly releasing it. "Yeah, but we need to- " it was too late, the dummy was already gone. following him she swallowed a growl, he had no idea what he was doing, didn't he know the herding animals like elk had herds?! . how ever upon seeing the elk, she quit disappointed, this elk was frail and sickly, she must've not been have able to keep up and was abandon.

listening to Zeriko, she nodded in agreement. "I'll sneak up from the other side and we can herd her into the hole, that why she cant suddenly turn and completely ruin the plan." with out even waiting for his response she was gone.
I wonder... she thought, slowly stalking to the other side of the elk, creeping as close as she could without altering it of of her presence. does she know she's been abandoned, does she KNOW that her herd was more worried about getting to the next pool of dirt soaked water that they would ignore her falling behind? digging her claws deep into the baking sand and rocks. remembering what her father had said to her when she was young and had twisted her leg when playing with her sister.
"If it doesn't get better, you'll just slow us down. and we don't have time for that." there was no sympathy, no encouragement, just harsh facts, and for the rest of the days Sparrow had to limp around struggling to stay in pace with her family. digging her claws deeper into the earth the memory continued, her mother mindlessly following him, and sister punished for trying to help her back up when Sparrow had fallen and couldn't get back up without a splitting pain in her leg.

Without warning Sparrow suddenly sprinted straight for the elk, sand churning behind her in a small dust storm. leaping onto it back it shrieked in surprise and pain, when she tore into it's shoulder. Savagely tearing into it's flesh, the elk started kicking like a horse, but she stayed firmly in place, blood starting to drip down her chin. growling like some rabid creature she tore the chunk from its body.

ooc: She ain't very happy if you can't tell

Graylethe | Male | 3 Years | Wanderer
Location: Northern Icelands | Mentions: Kareal ~ Open

"I see..." Graylethe nodded, his ear flicking in annoyance at the strangers words. So there was a herd. He sighed heavily before replying to the information about the storm, "Thank you, but I've been tracking this calf for days now, and I am not letting it get any further." Though he said this more to himself than anything. As he stood, he turned in the direction he had been tracking the young white-tail, narrowing his eyes in thought as he studied the horizon. Would it be such a good idea to head towards this herd alone? Not to mention he had no knowledge of how big this herd could be. All this tracking and exhaustion could all be for nothing if he got there and was outnumbered. Though he would rather take that chance then ask this wolf to go with him. He wasn't very keen on trusting strangers with his life, especially sense he also lacked the knowledge of how long it would take to get to them, and he didn't feel like spending a couple of days alone with him, if it would even take that long.

Turning back to the wolf, he smiled and dipped his head. "I'll be on my way then," he said to him, the smile sincere, yet held a stiffness to it, possibly eagerness to finally have meat in his belly, and talking to this wolf was keeping him from accomplishing that.

Redwood|Male|5 years|Loner|Location: Southern Woodlands|Mentions: OPEN

Redwood quickly ran up to Heilo and nudged her out into the bushes, wanting to get away from the scene as fast as possible. He was going to talk to his younger sister about running off as soon as they got well away from the bear. He felt on edge and nervous, which could lead to him being snappy. As soon as they were a good distance away, Redwood whirled around and started scolding Heilo. "Heilo, why did you do that!? Why did you run off without you telling me where you were going? You could have run into an aggressive wolf or dangerous predator, which you did! It's a good thing that bear was distracted, it could have attacked us!" He took a moment to take a breath and realized that Heilo looked hurt, he could see it in her eyes. "Listen Heilo, what I'm trying to say is that I don't want you getting hurt or lost. I just want to keep you safe." Heilo padded up to Redwood and licked his cheek. "It's okay," she said, "I understand." She padded up to a bush and laid down underneath it. "Redwood, I'm tired, could we rest?" she asked. "Of course!" he replied, padding over to her and curling up beside her. He rested his head on his paws and closed his eyes.

Harley(Raven)|Female|3 Years|Loner|Location: Western Grasslands|Mentions: OPEN|

Raven padded down the rough hill and into the lush grass. It felt good on her pads. The rough, rocky terrain was behind her, and the lush, green grasslands were in front of her, stretching as far as she could see. She took a deep breath of the crisp air and continued onward, taking in the scenery.

She found a suitable place to rest and laid down, her limbs aching and her eyes tired. She wasn't out in the open where she was vulnerable, so she fell asleep quite quickly, thinking that she would be safe here for now.

Gaya | Female | 2 years, 1 months | Wanderer
Location: Western Grasslands | Mentions: Harley(Raven)

Gaya, having finished her fish, continued on her trek through the grasslands. She was surprised to find more wolf scent. Hopefully these would be less hostile then the ones she had encountered earlier. She followed the scent for a long time, not even pausing to catch prey. She was rather full for the day. Soon it was clear it was a female, but Gaya didn't care. Maybe the female could help hunt!

Finally she found the wolf. At this moment it was sleeping, making it look serene. Gaya sighed, and sniffed gingerly at the female. Finally, she padded a safe distance, and barked lightly, trying to wake up the female. There was no effect, and she barked louder still. She returned to the female, sniffing her again, nudging her, before returning to her original position and barking once more.

OOC: Sorry this is short, I don't have much time ;u;

Harley(Raven)|Female|3 Years|Loner|Location: Western Grasslands|Mentions: Gaya

Raven's ears twitched as she heard barking. She kept her eyes closed, not wanting to be bothered. The barking continued and she eventually felt something nudge her. It stopped and the barking began once more and the scent of wolf began to fill her nose.

Annoyed and alarmed, Raven opened her amber eyes to find a another wolf standing nearby. She jumped up, startled, and backed away. It was her first encounter with a wild wolf and she didn't know what to do. she didn't seem hostile, but you could never be too sure. "Wha-wha-what do you want?" she stuttered, cursing herself for sounding stupid and scared.

OOC: That's okay

Ahtrek|Male|3 Years 7 Months|Wanderer| Eastern Plains
Mentions: Moon

Yellow orbs narrowing to meet the female's petite frame, he dipped his head into a nod as she caught up with him. His pace began to quicken, feeling the harsh debris of shattered stone rickshaw from under his heavy weight. A wolf his size and capability was not meant for this terrain. Silent grunt fused throughout his trachea signaling a sigh of discomfort, he urged to reach some 'haven' for his paws. But something had caught his attention, his mind now occupied by something stirred yonder by the ravine. Glancing back at the female, drifting back into reality of her question he was unsure on what to utilize first.

His heart began to dawn into a slight uplift of speed, raising his blood pressure and providing vital blood needed for flight-or-fight response to kick in. " My name is Ahtrek.." His voice faded into a silent affair, his gaze fixated to the east. " Do you see that?" He called to her with a hushed tone, beyond the Easter Plains to the east was revealed by somewhat of a dust cloud. Now his eyesight was wonderful of course, but both of them were still some way off from this precise location. Since his nose could carry on the skimpy trail of the herd, he could only guess that the elk herd had caused that little dust cloud. As his legs carried him somewhat closer, about half of a mile, he could pinpoint wandering members of the herd scattered about lick chess pieces. Panic had surely set them off, but the true question was What set them off? The scent of wolves was not foreign here, and infact, pretty fresh enough to be depicted around maybe today? Tendons and ligaments tensed and stretched, allowing the large male to move silently and swiftly, while muscles began to tense and become spring-like. He was not sure if they were walking into a pack's patch of terrain; there was not particular border, just different scents here and there. Confusing as it was, perhaps these wolves had made a kill?

The she-wolf lowered her head, a habit when she was hunting. 'Yeah, I see' she said, her tone no longer cheery, she sounded focused. She tilted her head a little, not to hear, but to try and figure it out. 'Maybe a coyote or an eagle spooked them, they don't pay much attention when their trying to find food, i've noticed. But then again, what do I know, I just wander, haven't been here very long' she reasoned, she was actually quite confused by it herself. Her stopped her tail from wagging, as she knew from experience that most eyes are attracted to movement. (tell me if it's unrealistic for a wolf to be this smart lol) The silver wolf tensed her muscles, ready to distract or run from whatever might be there. Fighting wasn't really her thing. She locked her eyes on the dust cloud that was quickly clearing, but out of the corner of her eye, watched the large black wolf beside her. Maybe it was just a set up so he could kill her, she doubted it, though. He had just told her his name, and he could have easily killed her when she first spoke to him. Oh well, better to be safe than sorry.

Ahtrek|Male|3 Years 7 Months|Wanderer| Eastern Plains
Mentions: Moon - Open

Ahtrek didn't seem appeased by her thinking out loud suggestions. An eagle isn't as nearly as a threat as a coyote, who is not much of a threat at all. Then again possibly, the resemble miniature wolves in a way and could easily be mis-recognized. But judging how chaotic the herd seemed as it was diverse and shattered like splintering of bones, something bigger had to have caused it. The scent of wolves truffled closer and in a more demised way that recalled to be fresh and new. A ruffled growl muffled from his throat, on the edge of possible complications if this strangers truly were wolves that were startling the herd. If it was truly a coyote, then they could easily scare them off; his pace quickening into a makeshift of a trot, speed was now agreeing with him. Darkened eyes, darting back to the grey female, who's name was still unknown to him, making sure that she kept up. Seeing how focused and intuned she was with the direction, he figured she was just as curious but at most cautious. His trot had unknowingly accelerated into a gallop, and he quickly halted, not wanting to appear so eager to confront a foe. If he wanted to avoid injury to himself and his so called 'companion', things needed to be taken slow. With a quick shake of his skull, letting his thick coat rattle like loose grass, his walk now swift but docile.

Moon | Female | 3 Years, 7 Months | Wanderer | Eastern Plains | Mentions: Ahtrek

The she-wolf had a quick and reasonably relaxed lope to his side once more, then walked slightly ahead of the male to get a better view. His stride was much longer than hers, so frequent trots were needed to keep up with her companion. 'i'm Moon, by the way. Just in case you need to address or call me,' she smiled, then laughed in a friendly way. When not entirely focused of something, and when not scared, she was actually quite relaxed and reasonably in severe situations. 'So, do you want to hunt those elk, check out what they spooked at or pass through?' The she-wolf asked, she liked to know the plans for what she was doing, and if there was one, she'd often make one. It's easier when everyone knows what their doing, it's better to work as a team rather than everyone trying to do the same thing, or doing nothing. She looked up, then slightly back at him as she trotted to assume her position once more.

Zeriko ‡ Male ‡ Loner ‡ 3 years 5 months ‡ Location: Eastern Plains ‡ Mentions: Sparrow

Zeriko gave out a loud growl when the she-wolf sprinted out recklessly towards the elk. 'Let's just get this done quickly before other wolves comes near this elk.' Zeriko sprinted behind her, his long legs carring him instictively towards the elk. He watched the female take a leap towards the elk's back with amusement. He turned to focus on the weak spot, the neck where the windpipe was located. By the scent, and by the looks of this elk it was certainly sick and weak. A smile formed in his features. 'Better for us to take you down' He slowed down for a moment in order to go for behind. Once he was behind the elk, his rear legs lifted him to the air, his claws griping the elk from the haunches. A leg almost came fly towards him, hitting him directly at the face. 'Shit, that was dam close.'

Before Zeriko could sink his thorn-like ivories into the elk's rear he shouted, "I'll try pinning her down using all my strength and energy I have left. Take her down by tearing through her windpipe." He noticed a chunk of flesh from the shoulder was torn, and elk began to screech with pain. He had to bring down the elk, before the scent of blood runs strongly in the air. He wasn't in the mood to share his meal with others except with the female who helped him take this elk down. Using his paws and his massive strong jaws, he bit deeply which made the elk kick into the air, going in circles. He loosen his grip, failing with his first plan. He noticed the anger in the fae's eyes. He had to bring it down, it may be sick but it wasn't going to play easy with them. He used full speed, panting as he ran, his muscles screeching with exhaustion. He leaped towards the elk's neck, paws wrapped around it's neck, he used his entire weight in the process. Sucess. However, he was mostly concern on pinning it down that he forgotten to get out of the way. He landed hard on the stone ground and gave a loud yelp of pain. "Dam I sure am stupid! HURRY THE WINDPIPE" He got up quickly, ignoring the pain on his spine, and keeping hold of the elk. Between clentched teeth he stated with a growl. "We got to hurry, before other lone wolves arrive. I have no more energy nor the strength to fight off some hungry lone wolves."

OOC: I could definitely tell

Gaya | Female | 2 years, 1 months | Wanderer
Location: Western Grasslands | Mentions: Harley(Raven)

Gaya was shocked for a second, before she broke into a smile. No need to be so scared! She yapped, relieved that this wasn't a hostile wolf. Maybe, if she stopped being so scared, they could work together. I'm not here to harm you. I just happened to walk by, and saw you, and I thought to wake you up. Gaya looked behind her at the forests. She wondered what the other wolves were doing right now. Probably sharing a big feast... She thought bitterly. Then, she turned back to the other wolf. This is no place to drop your guard. I've met quite a few... hostile wolves. Vicious and scary, they are.

Gaya lowered her tail, but placed it in a normal manner, not submissive nor commanding. She didn't want to scare this wolf away. She sniffed the air to make sure there were no wolves around. There weren't. Anyway, She said. You don't have to fear me. Unless you make me really mad...
