- New Color Group (like Black, Cream etc) and move just a few bases such as Cinnabar etc + add new ones.
Black, Cream, Red, Golden, Iridescent - ideally this would free up how crowded Black group is with colours like Opal, Glacial, Ice and so on and make Black more about Black and Maltese/Lilac. This would make few bases forced to be moved to new colour groups.

- New Shading Group (like Solid and Countershaded) and just move the colours like green, blue etc to new shade to make the breeding within same colour group easier for natural and colorbomb breeders.
Esentially such idea would keep all existing bases in same colour groups as they are but added a third shading variety.

Keep in mind this is just a discussion to see what community thinks about this idea! It does not have to be a planned update.

I am open to anything.

We can poll moving EACH base first.
We will obviously fill any gaps that would appear with new bases, specially from Suggestion boards.
It would open doors for more coloruful bases without distrupting natural breeders.
We could introduce new NCL's sporting unique Iridescent bases in events like "Weekend only" and so on.

ADDITIONALLY - Also I am open to Iridiscent Colour Group working with BOOSTS with their previous colours (like Cinnabar working with Reds with additional breeding boosts)

Let us know your thoughts!

NOTE: there is no reason to create suggestions already based on this idea as this mechanic not only does not exist on Lioden yet, but it does not have to end up in Lioden at all. You're welcome to post your ideas here directly.ll

If we do add this, I don't think any current bases should be moved to it. It needs to have it's own bases and could probably function similarly to medium. If added, I support it as a SHADE because as I said before, Iridescent is not a color it is the quality of a color (specifically, it's reflective quality). How I think it should operate:

Iri + Iri = 50% Iri, 25% Countershade or Solid
Iri + Solid = 70% Solid, 30% Iri
Iri + Countershade = 70% Counter, 30% Iri

This keeps the base somewhat rare (and spares some us who don't want to see/breed edward cullen lions around the site everywhere). You could introduce 10 new Iridescent bases at once in a big news post and 2 could be special, 1 could be special*, and just go from there.

@Rabe; No need to be sorry. I don't believe that an iridescent group would degrade the special group - the specials would still be special and would maintain their rarity, they would still behave the same as they do now, iridescent would be like a different version of special - not necessarily rarer just different. They would behave just like specials do now but specials wouldn't throw iridescent bases, they'd throw only special bases, while iridescent bases would throw special and iridescent. I don't believe this would affect the special base rarity because the bases they are talking about putting in iridescent are already a little rarer and harder to pass as it is. :) If that makes sense xD

@Tale, making it a rarity doesn't make any sense at all. The current system we have needs to be amended (specifically, there's needs to be a physical marker of difference between specials and specials*), but Iridescent describes a color not commonality.

I'm just gonna repost my original post from the first thread here because my opinion hasn't changed.

"I skimmed the comments, so forgive me if this has already been suggested here.

I don't support a new base group entirely-

Not only does it not fit in with the scheme (Black, Gold, Red, Cream), but i just don't see the need to add more and more into a system when people have already put so much money into their breeding projects. I for one, would be absolutely pissed if Skyward jumped groups since i've invested in girls with special marks in certain slots with certain bases that match up with my full skyward king.

What i WOULD Support, however, is a new subdivision.

That wouldn't mess up groups or mess up already in-place breeding projects. Perhaps adding in "Iridescent" alongside "Common" and "Special" would work.

So instead of, "Black Dark Countershaded Special" it could be "Black Dark Countershaded Iridescent""

@Tale [evil] just scrolled up and realized that , yes, to split them out is a nice idea. Maybe we can let iridescent lions be able to breed out other iridescent colors? Such as azurite can produce bergamot if in a certain condition, I'm not that into the idea of 'special special' bases, like lions can only produce ice if we go breed them with a lion with ice base.

I like the idea of Iridescent being added as a new Shading Group, but not as a new Color Group.

"I am open to anything.

How about we don't move any bases? Like Lex said, that screws up breeding projects. Try and be a little bit more considerate before you sweep in and knock everything askew with your mighty admin powers?

I support this idea a lot! The bases that would be included in iridescent are my favorites, and I've found it particularly frustrating to breed black special bases due to the amount of color variation in that group. I would also be very excited to see the new bases included in the iridescent group!
It would also quell the rivalry between natural and colorbomb breeders that I've noticed. A lot of natural breeders seem to hate how colorful and unrealistic certain bases can be within the groups.

I wouldnt like it if iridescent were introduced and then the percentages made so that it would be harder to get colorful bases. That would punish the people who breed for those bases. If the new category is introduced I would like it to be fair to both natural and unnatural breeders.

Let me also add in a little bit more detail why i think just a new color shade would be better instead of a new color group:

Black group: Widely the most popular group

If you take the bases and split them into Dark, Medium, Light, and Iridescent (where i think it would fit in more word-scheme wise) breeders can recover from that. They can still breed blacks, and maybe have chances for other bases that weren't available to them before from those groups.
There's no group jumping, like when us Leopon breeders who had 5-6 Inferno pons each trying to breed Kiman pons got smacked in the mouth when that jumped groups and we had to recoup funds to find a different base.

However, changing an entire color group can fuck people up.
For instance, back to my Quad Skyward. I've put a lot of work into him- he's got the base, mane, every mark, and savage mane. One of a kind, besides TOT. If we were to push Skyward into a group with bases taken from every other group- i won't have those. In fact, i'd probably have to buy expensive applicators to be able to continue to breed skywards from him.

It sounds expensive and entirely unappealing to me, and many other players who have put a lot of love and dedication into their kings, to have a new color group.

@Moonwinde; I completely agree with you - as someone who does both colorbomb and natural breeding (on different accounts of course, haha) I can appreciate the complaints of both sides. I think creating a iridescent rarity would help natural breeders and colorbomb breeders while also maintaining the variety of bases that some of us love. Perhaps it could work something like this:

common x common = common
common x special = common / special
common x iridescent = common / iridescent
special x special = common / special
iridescent x iridescent = common / iridescent
special x iridescent = common / special / iridescent

That way neither special nor iridescent is rarer then the other, instead they would compliment one another. :)

how about iridescent lions can only produce iridescent for a limited percent of chance? and make them unable to breed out special bases?
for example:
iri+common = 15% iri, 85% common
iri+iri = 30% iri, 70% common

however if one of the parents is special based:
iri+special = 15% iri, 15% special, 70% common

and make iri be able to produce different iris just like what specials do.

As long as Iridescent don't pop up randomly like mediums do, that's cool. If I can ignore it, that's fine.
