The she-cat had been lost in her thoughts, not noticing the medicine cat apprentice until she'd already walked away. She cursed herself for her distractedness and yowled out a, "Sorry!" to Lynxpaw's retreating form. She looked at the cats gathering around her and nodded in satisfaction. "Come along, then," she said. "I'd like to get a few things for the fresh kill pile before sun high." She began trotting away, looking back at her temporary apprentice.

"Now," she began. "Show me everything you know right now." She smiled, "You can start by showing me how you stalk prey."

"Okay." Hawkpaw sniffed the air hoping for a scent of prey. He finally caught a scent of rabbit. "Hey, maybe we could go over there, I smell rabbits." He meowed looking in the direction that the scent of rabbits had come from. He walked carefully through the moor not wanting to scare them away. He didn't know if Pebblesplash was following him but he didn't care. His focus was on the rabbits. Hawkpaw knew they were close, his sense of smell wasn't that good. Hawkpaw walked forward and saw them. He crouched down then sprang forward landing on one. He killed it then covered it with some leaves. He looked at another one, who hadn't noticed anything, and crept forward. Hawkpaw then sprang forward but was knocked over by something. He looked over but was met by huge yellow eyes. It's eyes were narrowed and it teeth bared. It had a brown coat and collar around it's neck. Hawkpaw had seen one around his mother. Hawkpaw stared back into it's huge yellow eyes his heart pounding in his chest.

“Hawkpaw!” She shrieked. The tom was being pinned down by a dog. The brown brute had him pinned down. Pebblesplash ran towards the dog, spitting at it. She unsheathed her claws and prepared to jump on it.

Hawkpaw felt wiggled out of the dog's grasp. He clawed the dog against the face hissing. But the dog then slashed across his nose drawing blood. Hawkpaw felt the dog grasp the green bandana around his neck choking him. "Pebblesplash!" He gasped as the dog pulled harder. Hawkpaw the did an awkward turn and clawed the dog's eye. The dog howled in pain and let go. Hawkpaw saw Pebblesplash jump onto the dog. It then growled and hit Hawkpaw across the head. Hawkpaw saw that the dog was bleeding on his cheek and eye. He gave a smile before he felt the dog grab him by the scruff biting down. Hawkpaw gave a yowl of pain before being slammed onto the ground. He took a breath in before the dog clawed his shoulder two times. Hawkpaw laid on the ground for a moment. He then used all his strength to claw the dog's neck drawing blood. The dog let out a yelp and ran off not wanting anymore, he was being attacked by Hawkpaw and Pebblesplash. Hawkpaw flopped back onto the ground. He panted bleeding heavily. All he could smell was blood, all he could hear was a ringing in his head.

(I know Pebblesplash probably attacked the dog too but this is from Hawkpaw's point of view and he is only paying attention to the dog attacking him. When he takes breaks the dog is probably attacking Pebble)

Rainpaw closed her eyes, she didn't want to imagine the cat she had looked up to for so long in such a state. She shook herself out from ears to tail and imagined the comforting warmth of Stripecloud. She padded forward in a daze and noted a small rock ledge. She climbed onto it and scooted in. She suddenly felt something stick against her fur, turning around she saw it. Cobweb! She took a deep breath and decided to bring this to help. She stuck her paw in and carefully gathered as much as she could. Limping back into the camp, she readied herself, hoping Sunstar would be okay. She padded over to Wolfpaw, whom she hadn't noticed before, and gently nudged Clearsong aside. "Here, use this." She said to Wolfpaw, pulling a bit of cobweb off her paw and laying it on the wound.

Pebblesplash spat one more time in the dog’s direction. Turning her gaze, she looked to Hawkpaw. Oh no! The apprentice lay still on the ground. She cried out and ran over to him. He was covered in blood. Grabbing his scruff, she began dragging him towards camp.
“Help!” Pebblesplash shrieked.
“Oh StarClan, please no...” she continued dragging poor Hawkpaw. Just after he recovered from the fire!

Hawkpaw felt something grab his scruff. Had the dog come back! He looked up and saw that it was Pebblesplash. He closed his eyes still only hearing the ringing sound. His heart was beating loudly. He felt pain everywhere and some numbness mixed in. His neck, nose, and shoulder were throbbing. They hurt the most. Hawkpaw didn't know what was going to happen. Nor did he care. Was he really going to die? First the fire, then the dog. Did StarClan want him to join them so badly? Maybe they would take him, maybe they wouldn't. Hawkpaw didn't know. He took a breath in, then passed out.

Wolfpaw hadn’t noticed either cat approach them and the sounds of their voices pulled him back to the world around him. He hesitated, but inside, he knew that they were probably more calm and able to deal with the situation better than himself. “New moss, cobweb, and press harder. Alright.” He gave a slightly shaky nod and moved the cobweb that Rainpaw had placed closed by over the wound and then replaced the old moss with a new scrap. Since she wasn’t awake, Willowstar didn’t seem to react as he put a bit more pressure on her wounded belly, but it made him more aware of the lack of presence of the higher ranked cats. As he thought about them, he cast a glance at the other leader before nervously speaking up. “What should we do about Sunstar in the meantime?”

“Help!” She yowled, trying to attract some cat’s attention. Hawkpaw’s breathing was getting faster- he needed a medicine cat.
“LYNXPAW!” She yowled, “SOMEONE, PLEASE!” Pebblesplash regrasped Hawkpaw’s scruff, and began padding- more like crawling- toward camp as fast as she could.

Harepaw could hear someone yowling for help. Though she wasn't sure she was the help they would quite need, she ran toward the yowls anyway. If she could help in any way then she would, even if it meant just tracking down another cat. If there was something Harepaw was proud of, it was how good of a hunter and fighter she had become in these moons of being an apprentice.

Clearsong pricked his ears in concern as he heard his sister's shouts for help. He nodded to Rainpaw and Wolfpaw, trusting them to keep this under control, "I'll fetch Lynxpaw or Icepaw." He then dashed out of camp.

He quickly picked up Lynxpaw's trail, it overlapped Earthquake's. He raced up the slope and soon he heard a slight chatter and skidded to a halt beside the two cats. "Lynxpaw!" He panted, "We need you! Something's happened!" His eyes pleaded for them to understand and to ask questions later. "Back at camp!" He huffed, before getting ready to follow the cats.

Lynxpaw had been in the middle of investigating a patch of poppies for one with good seeds to take when Clearsong arrived with a plea for her help, and almost immediately she let go of one flower head she was testing with a paw. "Right away"! She sprang back out of the flower patch and glanced quickly at Earthquake, mild gratitude for his company albeit the fact it had been cut short, and with that she thanked Clearsong and broke into a sprint, heading for the camp. Whatever had happened already sounded very bad, and she hoped desperately that she would able to successfully treat whoever was ill or injured- but what if it was already too late by the time she reached camp? Lynxpaw pushed the thought out of her mind and ran on, begging her legs not to tire or trip herself over. Now was not the time for mistakes.

"Where's Lynxpaw or Icepaw?!" she cried out. She felt Hawkpaw's blood flowing a bit faster, and she looked at the tom. She tried pressing her paws against the wounds on the young tom, looking around frantically. Pebblesplash looked up as she heard paw steps approaching. Clearsong bolted after her, slightly tired from his mad dash to get her. He burst through the bracken and into the camp after Lynxpaw, steading her with his shoulder when he noticed her about to stumble. He let Lynxpaw continue forward to meet Pebblesplash, and he turned to Wolfpaw. "Hey." He huffed, "I got... her." He looked to Rainpaw, "Go to Pebblesplash and Lynxpaw with your cobweb and help them out." He flopped down next to Wolfpaw and steadied his breath. "Okay, do you need any help with Willowstar?" He said before prodding her to check for any other cuts.

Rainpaw nodded to Clearsong and limped over to the small group of cats, careful not to drag any cobweb against the ground. She looked to Hawkpaw, the brown apprentice had been her denmate as a kit, but they never really talked much as Rainpaw had always gotten into trouble. However, she still didn't want to see him dead and he looked very weak. What happened?
