-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses

We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered.

We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.


New Features Being Implemented

We have some features that will be added regardless of feedback within a future update:

New Features We May Implement


* Adjusting the raffle lioness system so that only players who have been active in the last two days (so Wednesdays onward) will have a chance to win when the raffle lioness is pulled
* Sending an email notification to the player who won the weekly raffle lioness


New Features We're Considering/Discussing

These are features we have had ideas for, or have found in the Game Development forums, and would like to see which of the following would be most preferred.

** 1. Storing raffle lioness designs and releasing them slowly through explore.
Essentially, this would mean creating multiple copies of the same raffle lioness to be slow-dripped into the game through the claiming system. They would work as chased lionesses, so only kings with Average impression or higher could find them. This would likely come with a failsafe so that if the lioness fails to be claimed, she goes back into the chased pool so another player has a chance to claim her. All raffle lionesses are made with the Nurturing (Good) personality, so raffle lionesses released through the claiming system would display the Good pose.

The first week, Raffle Lioness 1 is pulled and sent to the winner, and Raffle Lioness 2 is put up to be impressed. The second week, Raffle Lioness 2 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 3 is put up to be impressed, and a clone of Raffle Lioness 1 is put into the chased lioness pool in explore. The third week, Raffle Lioness 3 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 4 is put up to be impressed, and clones of Raffle Lionesses 1 and 2 are put into the chased pool in explore. This repeats up to a maximum of 9 clones, making for 10 total lionesses with the same design.

** 2. Releasing an identical replica raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness.
The stud would have the exact same traits as the raffle lioness, but rather than being delivered to a winner's territory, a select amount of players (between 20-50) would win the ability to breed with him. This would work similarly to August's event studs in that items could not be used on the stud for breeding. We also considered, if implementing replica studs, to allow all players to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but lock weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.


** 3. Implementing raffle studs in general.
An alternative to releasing an identical replica raffle stud would be releasing a raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness who may share similar traits, e.g. if a raffle lioness is releasing a brand new eye colour, the raffle stud that week would have that eye colour as well, or if she is releasing a brand new raffle marking, the raffle stud that week would have that marking as well (either in the same slot, or a different slot). Breedings to this stud would also be limited to 20-50 players weekly, and items would not be allowed. This would also come with all players being able to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but locking weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.


** 4. Releasing more than one raffle lioness per week.
This would either be multiple identical copies of the same raffle lioness, or up to 3 different raffle lionesses at once who would share some of the same traits, but not be identical.


** 5. Releasing recreated copies of previous raffle lionesses who are on banned/closed accounts.
This would be making a replica of the raffle lioness to raffle off through the official raffle system. The original raffle lioness would stay on the same account. This is specifically only for permanently suspended accounts, and accounts that have been closed—not inactive accounts that are not suspended/closed.


** 6. Allow the weekly raffle lioness to be impressed daily instead of once weekly for higher chances of winning, therefore rewarding more active players.
The weekly raffle lioness would still be available for a full week as usual, but daily impression attempts will add up and give a greater chance at winning her as compared to only one attempt per week (how it currently works).


** 7. Add a second raffle lioness for players who have rolled over at least 365 times in total (not consecutively), with potentially more unique traits than a standard Dreamboat raffle lioness.
Players who have rolled over 365 or more times would have the ability to impress both the standard Dreamboat raffle lioness, as well as a second raffle lioness that is only available to accounts with 365+ total rollovers.





We may mix-and-match some of the options, but we will be polling the community on these options regardless.

I generally don't really like the idea of putting every rl out to explore only because breeding RLs and NRLCs are the only ones which don't have to rely on incredibly hard rng to get (generally) , while still maintaining market value for those with desirable traits. By making multiple clones, it could tank the value of the NRLCs.

However I do definitely like the idea of putting out NCLs with some of the Rl's traits, and/or putting old or dead lines out to explore, or revamped otherwise.

Also love the idea of raffle studs.

I like how everyone has equal chance of getting the RL, however I could see an infrequent chance of boosting your odds would be interesting, as long as it wasn't locked behind a massive paywall. . Maybe every so often like once a month or every couple months.

I'm not a fan of this personally. I'd much rather this be reworked to preventing entry until Wednesday onward if this is a route that is going to be taken.

Otherwise a warning/confirmation message upon entry outside of the 2 day requirement would need to be implemented. And on the Raffle Lioness page itself.

Something like;

"You are attempting to impress the Special Lioness, you will need to Rollover on Wednesday and/or Thursday to have a chance at winning her over."

Though as someone that sometimes only rolls once a week, it's a bit disheartening that my entry could be null and void if I don't roll on a specific day of the week.
Sometimes I don't feel like playing much, but I do still play.

I am assuming in this instance that active means Rollover, however. If it means one can visit the site while logged in without rolling over (the green dot on the profile page comes on) I'd love to know, as that would (mostly) deal with my main complaint.

The other issue I have is ticket price. Yes, it's only 50, however I feel it should be refunded if the entry doesn't reach the threshold date and becomes voided.


Other than that, I do like the idea put forth of newly released RL features being put onto NCLs for Dreamboats.

The stud is also a nice option as well and something I hope will be implemented.

5, I love this idea theres so many pretty rlcs that are on inactive accounts some dont have marks like out there so they are impossible to remake others just sadly are on inactive accounts like the 2019/7/26 rlc (if thats the right one) last I checked the owner has been inactive for a couple of years and I tried to remake her but gave up after only getting 3/15 for like a month straight out of all 7 ideas i really hope that 5 somehow gets implemented

I'm not going to write a whole essay but one idea I particularly dislike is 6, multiple tickets. I think the best thing about the weekly RL is that everyone gets a an equal chance, no matter how wealthy or new to the game they are

I also think adding multiple RLs as raffle or chased etc isn't the way to go. They'll lose their value and rarity and it won't be as exciting winning a rl knowing you're not the only one who has it.

An exception would be proposal 5. Re-raffling RLs that have died off or are in banned/inaccessible accounts. I believe that's a much better option.

I LOVE the stud ideas for distributing new marks and bases as a failsafe. Especially where stud breedings can be won by a few raffle runner ups. That way, it's no race to get to the studs.

Many people are saying that adding studs that are exact replicas of the RLs is a bad idea, but the chance of getting a clone with 0 breeding items is extremely low, and the chance that you just might possibly score one is more than exciting.

I think option 7 would be a good idea if it weren't weekly. Perhaps a monthly raffle for active players alongside the regular weekly raffle? Or perhaps once a fortnight?

I support ideas 2 and 5

I don't think adding more raffle lionesses is a good ide because they will lose on their price and rarity a lot I think it's special to have them for someone people that like to collect them

As a newish player, I don't like the idea of locking the raffle behind 365 rollover days. Or that you have to login more often, or on specific days.

I do like the idea of multiple raffle lions being available through exploring or studding.

I am very new to the game and reading through the thread, I have to say I don't like hearing that one lucky player can control complete access to a trait/marking. I thought the purpose of RLs was to introduce new markings to the site? If one player can hoard it (and this is actually frequently done), than why is so much work being done just for one player out of thousand's enjoyment?

I am fine with RLs being unique in overall look, but I think opening up other options to obtain the traits/markings, whether studding or through exploring is needed. For exploring, I could see NCLs having 1 or two of the new markings/traits as a random chance showing up the following week (not exclusive only to 10 lions).

Ok this'll probably be buried and never seen, but here's my thoughts on these options you've presented us with!

#1: While this seemed like a good idea in theory, the more I thought about it the more I started to not like it, but instead think of another option. The most intriguing thing about a RL to most people is the fact that the winner "owns" the line, and that the value of the lion can stay high as long as it isn't mass bred to the entire community (think RA line). While gatekeepers are annoying and this would solve this, this also just decreases the value of a RL by a LOT.

How would you fix this? In my opinion, release NCLs slowly with TRAITS of the RL. So eyes, mane, skin, and markings in the slots or even new slots to get those traits to the community without drastically lowering the value of the RL they are showcasing. Maybe even a similar way the Mods are theoretically releasing RLs into explore you could start with NCLs with lots of the traits, and trickle out over the weeks into less and less traits until it's "gone" from the explore pool. This would be a good way to get out NEW traits that could otherwise get gatekept by a user.

#2/3: This is an interesting concept which would help with getting traits out, which I can get by. I'm actually completely ok with RL's being locked behind a roll number simply because you can get dreamboat in a matter of HOURS on a brand new account if you just grind a bit. This would also prevent anyone from:

- creating accounts on VPNs to have more accounts in the pool for the RL (which ofc is banable but we've seen people do it)

If anything, if it's only one RL and its the 365 requirement, maybe lower the requirement a tad, to like 6 months instead of a year as a more 'fair' time period.

#4: This would just not vibe with most people Again, decreasing value of the OG. Having three totally different ones would be interesting? But if anything I'd say more than one a week would be better than 3 similar ones.

#5: YES YES and more yes.. enough said..
These RLs need to see the light of day as there are SO MANY locked in these types of situations, and they're all beautiful and need good homes. If anything, these could be slowly released every two weeks along with the RL and be locked under a rollover requirement, as they need to not go to a home with a similar situation to their last This would coincide with #7.

In regards to the banned vs unrolled accounts (as in like YEARS not rolled) maybe send an email to those ppl saying if they don't roll the account and breed her within 7 days, the RL gets rereleased? for anyone who wishes those to go out as well?

#6: This is a very interesting concept, and would reward players who are active over those who are inactive and only roll a side to add their second 'point' into the pool. Not everyone can be active, but if you have 2 point over someone's 1, that's still 2:1! Suggestion about side accounts at the end of this note.

#7: This would be super interesting!!! Would allow for more traits to make it to the community and reward active players? Solid in my book. I don't even know if I'm at 365 ro's personally, but hey! I'll get there if I'm not

SIDE ACCOUNTS AND 'FAIRNESS':

Not everyone has one, knows it's an option, or can roll it, and honestly if they wanna have a 'fair' way of making sure each player has the SAME CHANCE to get a RL as long as they're active, maybe implement:

- Once one of your linked accounts 'impresses' a RL, the other account can't add to the pool
- "Your other king has already impressed this female! Better luck next time buddy..."
- OR if its the 7 day system, once you reach '7', you can't impress anymore on either account

This would make it the most 'fair' if there is anyone who thinks the usage of a side wouldn't be fair!

NEW PLAYERS AND POSSIBLE LOCKED RLS:

Most new players are NOT going to be able to:

- Breed a RL
- Know what to do with a RL
- Know their value

We've all seen this happen to multiple new player winners who get scammed out of their lion, change traits on the lion, chase it, it dies, etc. A possible 'blocker' would prevent brand new players from having any of that happen. 365 is still a bit much if it's one RL, but decreasing the requirement to a few months would be fair imo

OR instruction manual sent to every winner of a RL explaining breeding of the RL, what items help with passing, etc

I’m personally not a huge fan of the chasers idea, though I don’t what words I have to articulate it! Just not a huge fan of the idea in general. Even though the chance would be very small at best for the average player, it just still feels like some of the difficulty goes with that.

I really love the idea of a similar stud alongside the raffle lioness! This would keep the RL look special enough to continue RLC clone projects, but would ensure the traits are less likely to get locked up by players (especially small things like say, eyes or skins)

I am in LOVE with the idea of rereleasing banned account raffle lionesses. Some of my favorite RL’s have unfortunately gone extinct because an account got banned shortly after winning her.

I’m a bit split on the ‘multiple attempts to impress’, as I think it may incentivize making multiple rule breaking accounts for RL’s like the Christmas hybrids, but if only accounts active since Wednesday can win that might mitigate that a little? Unsure how I feel on that as a whole

I do like the idea of a second 365+ lioness, though any more than 2 raffle lionesses a week make me feel like things would get very bloated quickly. I can see 365’s having more mutations regularly, and can see people working hard to get RLC + mut clones as their kings (especially for inheritable mutations like Pie’s or Patches)

I think all of these options are great!
However, I favor options 1 thru 3 and 7
4 & 6 I think would make the raffle lionesses feel less special or more like a chore in 6’s case.
Looking forwards to any changes regardless!

Things I love:
1. Clones in the chased pool. My favorite option! Exciting to find, rewards active players, will probably help keep designs from going extinct going forwards. Some clones might get lost, re-chased or even killed, but that's a fate that can already happen to the singular lioness we get a week. I don't think it'll put a serious dip in the rarity of BO markings or RLCs- look how many kings who are clones of the same Haze RL, for example, are all active and getting stud requests!
3. A similar but not identical stud is great. Very low chance of him generating a clone of himself, keeping the RL and her ability to be cloned valuable, and some traits/trait combinations will stay unique to her because they aren't twins. Breeding a full replica of studs the hard way would be a fun project for some people, too, and one a week is not too many new designs to preserve if the community gets into that with studs the way they have the RLs.
4. I'd support multiples of the same RL for the same reason I'd support clones in explore. Multiple slightly different ones does help stop traits from not circulating, but I think it would add too many lions to the list of designs people like preserving every week. The end of the world? No, but a nod to the portion of the site that works hard to keep living clones around would be nice. I'm not one of them but I can imagine the agony of suddenly having three a week to keep track of (or four, if studs are implemented too).
5. Re-releasing locked account RLs. Completely sensible.

Things I am ambivalent about:
7. Second RL for longer-term players. I don't think it would help with much, honestly. Plenty of us have been around a long time, I don't think it would reward long term players much more than the current system. I like the idea of the RL being for long term players and the RL stud being available for everyone more.

Things I do NOT like:
0. Limiting the possible winners pool to people active in the last few days. There goes the point to rolling my side once a week... I like to do it on Sundays, when I'm home from work and have time to do my dailies twice, yknow? Not on a weekday.
6. Daily impressions. Again, excludes side accounts that aren't rolled daily. If the goal is to make more RLs go into the hands of active players, this rewards people who are active daily on TWO accounts disproportionately compared to those of us who use one as a storage den, which is a lot of people who do play daily on their mains and should also be counted as active players. Also, it's not free. 50 SB is not a lot when it's just once-twice a week... But that's 700 SB a week if you do daily impressions on both accounts. That's money I need for stud fees. Some active players have shoestring budgets. Again, if the goal is rewarding activity, that doesn't quite do it, it rewards having some walking around money instead.

All in all, glad to see this is being looked at with an eye for change, and glad to see some suggestions I recognize from the forums up for debate.

A: I really don't like this idea, really hurts a lot of players (like me) who are overall active but can't get on every week, much less specific times of a week.

A: I think this is a good idea. No other comment lol


2/3. I think it could be a good idea, but I think it would be best if the stud wasn't an exact replica, but very near and sharing important/new traits maybe? Also, maybe with limited studding opportunities (maybe only a certain number of attempts per acc or a raffle choosing who can stud to him)

4. Again, I don't think an exact replica is a great idea and I'm not sure about multiple rls with similar traits either, but I don't mind the idea of increasing the amount of rls in general. Perhaps multiple similar themed rls with only a few shared traits and people can only enter one of the raffles per set? Not sure tbh..

5. Now i think this is a VERY good idea, no complaints about the implementation of this

6. While it is nice to reward activity in players, i just think its better for everyone to have an equal chance.

7. I like this idea a fair amount, rewarding long-term players and all. However, if this is implemented, I don't think it should be added alongside 4., I honestly think more than 2-3 rls a week is just waaay too many.

aaand

1. I have the most to say about this one. I really don't like the idea of a rl being released in explore, especially multiple versions. It dampens the excitement and rarity, could easily crash the rl market, and honestly isn't (as far as i can tell from the way it is described) as fair as it might seem at first glance. While every account can only enter once in an rl's raffle, richer players could simply buy a lot of boosts, catnip, etc, and would have a much higher chance of encountering these explore versions than other players. However... I do think it would be VERY COOL to add a new incentive to explore and claim lionesses in there. Maybe, instead of rereleasing rls into explore, there could be a new separate thing. It could also be a weekly ordeal, with one very special lioness that can be found. This lioness could have primarily ncl exclusive/event ncl traits (markings/skin/mane/base) with a few bo/raffle exclusive traits as well. I think it would also be interesting if there were new bases and eyes released for this system which were exclusive to it (can't be found on rls or regular ncls) like how there are certain bases (lilac, orchid, olive) and eyes (phase, ocean, fern) exclusive to rls.
