-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses

We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered.

We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.


New Features Being Implemented

We have some features that will be added regardless of feedback within a future update:

New Features We May Implement


* Adjusting the raffle lioness system so that only players who have been active in the last two days (so Wednesdays onward) will have a chance to win when the raffle lioness is pulled
* Sending an email notification to the player who won the weekly raffle lioness


New Features We're Considering/Discussing

These are features we have had ideas for, or have found in the Game Development forums, and would like to see which of the following would be most preferred.

** 1. Storing raffle lioness designs and releasing them slowly through explore.
Essentially, this would mean creating multiple copies of the same raffle lioness to be slow-dripped into the game through the claiming system. They would work as chased lionesses, so only kings with Average impression or higher could find them. This would likely come with a failsafe so that if the lioness fails to be claimed, she goes back into the chased pool so another player has a chance to claim her. All raffle lionesses are made with the Nurturing (Good) personality, so raffle lionesses released through the claiming system would display the Good pose.

The first week, Raffle Lioness 1 is pulled and sent to the winner, and Raffle Lioness 2 is put up to be impressed. The second week, Raffle Lioness 2 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 3 is put up to be impressed, and a clone of Raffle Lioness 1 is put into the chased lioness pool in explore. The third week, Raffle Lioness 3 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 4 is put up to be impressed, and clones of Raffle Lionesses 1 and 2 are put into the chased pool in explore. This repeats up to a maximum of 9 clones, making for 10 total lionesses with the same design.

** 2. Releasing an identical replica raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness.
The stud would have the exact same traits as the raffle lioness, but rather than being delivered to a winner's territory, a select amount of players (between 20-50) would win the ability to breed with him. This would work similarly to August's event studs in that items could not be used on the stud for breeding. We also considered, if implementing replica studs, to allow all players to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but lock weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.


** 3. Implementing raffle studs in general.
An alternative to releasing an identical replica raffle stud would be releasing a raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness who may share similar traits, e.g. if a raffle lioness is releasing a brand new eye colour, the raffle stud that week would have that eye colour as well, or if she is releasing a brand new raffle marking, the raffle stud that week would have that marking as well (either in the same slot, or a different slot). Breedings to this stud would also be limited to 20-50 players weekly, and items would not be allowed. This would also come with all players being able to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but locking weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.


** 4. Releasing more than one raffle lioness per week.
This would either be multiple identical copies of the same raffle lioness, or up to 3 different raffle lionesses at once who would share some of the same traits, but not be identical.


** 5. Releasing recreated copies of previous raffle lionesses who are on banned/closed accounts.
This would be making a replica of the raffle lioness to raffle off through the official raffle system. The original raffle lioness would stay on the same account. This is specifically only for permanently suspended accounts, and accounts that have been closed—not inactive accounts that are not suspended/closed.


** 6. Allow the weekly raffle lioness to be impressed daily instead of once weekly for higher chances of winning, therefore rewarding more active players.
The weekly raffle lioness would still be available for a full week as usual, but daily impression attempts will add up and give a greater chance at winning her as compared to only one attempt per week (how it currently works).


** 7. Add a second raffle lioness for players who have rolled over at least 365 times in total (not consecutively), with potentially more unique traits than a standard Dreamboat raffle lioness.
Players who have rolled over 365 or more times would have the ability to impress both the standard Dreamboat raffle lioness, as well as a second raffle lioness that is only available to accounts with 365+ total rollovers.





We may mix-and-match some of the options, but we will be polling the community on these options regardless.

I think the raffle lionesses in Explore would be a good solution to this. I’ll be honest, I’ve played for 10 years on two accounts (with a 1.5 year hiatus), mostly rolling over daily, and I’ve never won a raffle lioness. Something about the current distribution system does seem a bit funky if that’s the case.

I have to agree that limiting who the raffle lioness can go to based on activity isn't my favorite idea here. I work a lot and try to only roll over on wet seasons, but I'll enter the raffle when I'm on. I think it would suck to know I got kicked from the raffle for having to work.

I've enjoyed raffle studs as a concept on wolvden and think they'd work wonderfully here!

A mechanic that I didn't see mentioned: when someone wins a lioness, their private messages are restricted. That's great and all, but I had people bypassing it by sending items with a message attached. I really considered quitting after the fiasco with the girl I won. I definitely don't play on here as much or enjoy it the way I used to, so I appreciate the efforts here to improve this system!

Yes to everything. Anything that makes it easier for anyone and everyone to get one. I don't care about "value" or the "economy." I want everyone to be able to get nice things. If that means it lowers the overall value, that's fine. That's great actually

I know there will be players salty because they "worked so hard" to get their NRLCS or RLCs but I cannot stand people with that attitude of "I got mine and I had to suffer for it, so you should too." RLs are not intended to be status items, they're to help spread traits around the community. That sort of attitude only harms the community.

Again, seeing more people still say such things "As people hoarding or not spreading traits." Everyone had a chance. It is their Raffle lioness. The market had already have a huge crash recently in the rl and hybrids.

Nothing should be handed out on a silver platter, it's OK to grind and work at game, and show off your dedication through your lions.

The raffle lions for those who have had an account for more than a year seems like a great idea. I've been playing for 10 years and never once have been fortunate enough to win a raffle lioness. I also think having an activity threshold for being able to win a raffle lioness is a perfect idea. Some may place their entry for that week's RL, win, then never roll again.

I like 1 a lot, personally. But since things seem so heated over it, maybe instead of full clones of RLs, there's a chance for NCLs to have some of the special marks and stuff? So not clones, but the traits still have a chance to show up again and be passed on. Maybe that would cut down on the harassment of RL winners, too

i think all are good ideas, except for 1 and 4. releasing raffle lionesses as ncls or making multiple copies of the same one would ruin the value, and honestly it just wouldn't be as special of an experience to win one if everyone else can just find the exact same one in explore.

i love the raffle stud idea though! seems like a great way to spread traits around while also letting rl winners keep theirs private.
i also think it would be amazing to rerelease copies of raffle lionesses won by suspended/banned accounts, so they have a chance to be enjoyed by other players.

but yeah, big no to #1 and #4.

if you introduce a raffle stud you could have like previews or something of possible cubs (like 3 possibility's) that the lioness and stud could throw you, so you don't waste a breeding and get a potato from it but it costs a few sb or a gb to see the possibility of what the cub could look like or it could be free idk just an idea. ^^

Ok ive seen a ton of chatter about one and i think a good solution would be to just limit the number to 2-3, it would help keep value up while also giving multiple players a chance to get new traits. or if possible maybe just a few lioness's with the new traits from the RL.

To me, i feel like there should be a bigger cooldown between one person being allowed to impress a RL. Right now, the cooldown is *only one week*. With *thousands* of active players daily, this just isnt a fair cooldown. Ive seen people win 5+ RLs almost back to back because they just "got lucky".
If the cooldown was longer so people could not only enjoy the one they got, but also make it more fair for those who have never gotten one, i feel it would be better.
Ive played for 7 years. Only missed a few weeks because of not bein high enough impression level, but have never gotten a RL. In 7 years. While some people have gotten 5 or more in a shorter time span.

I am glad theres talk of changing the system a little bit, to maybe get more people a chance, but my biggest issue is the short cooldown.

Ngl I agree with everything

I like the idea of raffle lionesses being more accessible, since clones are only accessible to people who are rich, the poorer players would never even be able to hope about getting a clone

This way people have more of a chance of getting a raffle lioness

I think that all of these are great ideas. Especially since not everyone has the $$$to spend IRL in the game to get the currency/Breeding items to obtain a clone. I don't care about the "Value" dropping,As everyone deserves the same chance at having something nice. I've been playing everyday multiple hrs a day for almost 3 years and have NEVER won a raffle lioness. But I have seen others win multiple times in that time spand (which is okay) But wonky.

I personally don't think making multiple lionesses or releasing copies is the best idea - I think this would affect the rarity of RLs

However, I DO like the idea of studs with similar traits so that everyone has a chance to maybe get that trait they've been looking for, without making it so that many people has the same lioness, you know?

However the 365 days I am not a big fan of.
See, I've been here for a few months only and have spend real money into this game, and being suddenly kept away from participation in the raffle would be very.....meh. from lack of better words. I feel like maybe 60 days? Sure. Making sure they are advanced in the game but 365 is a bit discriminating to people like me - new and loving every second. After all, it isn't because you've been here longer that you can't suddenly go inactive tbh.

To sum it up, the stud idea ALONGSIDE the raffle lioness I feel is the best way to go forward.

I also like option 7, having a raffle lionness for most and a second one for people 365 days and up
