The myths of the dragon Riders have always been with us.
Now, they are returning, but at a cost.
Other venerable foes are awakening, and the Riders are the land's only hope.
Will you join us in the ranks of the Riders?

*

For anyone who posted on the old thread and did not see it: I made a new thread because a lot of people on the old one will no longer be joining us. I wanted to make it cleaner, without all the extra chatter from those not in this anymore, and have a separate character thread.

Our members are Flying Changes, Charlemange, Celebi, and Senna541(?).
No new forums may be submitted as of now. May possibly accept more members, however only if the plot needs more characters to progress.

WOOOO a poorly drawn map by me somewhat telling where everything is and with random cities and such. In case anyone was interested here's the minecraft map I based it off of.

~Borealis~

He looked at Ulalie with a dragon-smile that consisted of scrunched up eyes and slightly parted mouth.

"Where do we eat... anywhere you can find food in this icy landscape! There are a couple herds of reindeer and other smaller creatures. Usually when i go hunting i spend an entire day looking for enough food. Though, the cold doesn't sap my strength like southern dragons, so i don't go hunting as often. Sometimes Sitara will come with me, usually when the other Riders need food as well. We sort of take turns getting meat"

((Sitara's probably sleeping or something xD Just waiting for the time to skip ahead))

(I never went back and edited thelduin in. D: I'm sorry<33 xD Whenever you guys are ready to skip ahead you can just do it lol)

Ulalie

She returned the scaly smile, mustering a slight laugh. "I'm glad we take turns. I don't think I'd do well having to go down every time. Do we ever go out together or do we hunt individually? I've never been around so many dragons before."

{I've been spending all my writing umph on Dragon Age fanfiction because I'm FREAKING LAME AS CRAP. I guess we can skip now, Mika's done being stupid lol}

Mikaviel
"They didn't even catch ocean fish? Those are the most exciting ones! Lake fish are fat and lazy," Mika said as he helped Sundari assemble the sandwiches fully and placed them on plates. "Maybe they were afraid of the tide. It can be pretty scary for old humans.... What interesting creatures you are." The statement was quiet, thoughtful, like he hadn't really meant to say it aloud. He stared at Sundari for a few moments with his head tilted slightly to the right before he realized himself. "Oh, uh...so how about those dragons, huh?" he blurted, grabbing a plate in each hand and shuffling to the exit. Gods, way to make things awkward.

Zyla
A pang of anxiety washed through Zyla's chest at the thought of having to reenter the glacier if she went outside. She'd have to eventually, she knew, but that only increased the trepidation she felt at potentially embarrassing herself again. "It might be wiser to go individually or in small groups. It could alarm anyone that happened to see a flock of us horrible beasts swooping about." She uttered "horrible beasts" with her lip curled back in a snarl, expressing how much she detested what other sentient beings (mostly humans, who were afraid of anything they didn't understand) thought of her kind. This was mostly based on personal experience, having to live in fear of what could happen if too many scared humans decided to neutralize the threat of her existence. Putting these thoughts aside for another time, she told herself that she'd find time when everyone else was asleep to practice entering the glacier. Maybe Mika would stay up and help her. Speaking of... she thought towards her Rider as soon as she felt his presence grow stronger.

((Not sure what you mean :O I just? was very late and i feel bad))

~Borealis~

Having only ever gone on hunts by himself or with one other dragon, Boreas wasn't sure about Zyla's comment.
"Well, sometimes we hunt in twos, though I've seen groups of three. As long as they stay away from settlements, larger groups aren't very noticeable. Sometimes it helps to be with others when you're hunting something like a deer herd, but other than that i prefer to hunt alone. There isn't that much prey other than small animals, birds and fish if you know where to find a lake. It's easier for you fire-breathers to get to them though.

((i guess we'll just assume our dragons went out to get some food and have returned. And where should i make Sitara go for the dinner you two are preparing?))

shit shit shit shit guys you have permission to throw me off a cliff for forgetting about this omg

Sundari

She gave a laugh, and looked at Mika. "Such interesting creatures you elves are. I suppose the tide could have been frightening for them since most of them were old men, but I honestly think that they were just lazy and thought that the world owed them because they were old. Well, old for us. How old do you guys live to be?" She asked, looking up at him. His race was so different, and strange. She had so many questions, but wanted to bring them gradually.

"I like dragons," Sundari said with a smile and a nod, unsure of what really to say.

Ulalie

"Small groups would make more sense," She nodded. So many times she had flown over a city or town, and people freaked at the sight of just one dragon.

Thelduin

He peeked his head into the kitchen, and walked fully in when he saw Sundari and Mika inside. "You guys ready to eat? Bring the sandwich, you can eat it at the feast. Any clue where Sitara would be? I've found most of the other riders and they're off to get their dragons, but I can't find her. Go find your dragons and come to the main hall, I think the dragons should be at the feast too. I just hope they've eaten, I don't have enough food for them as well."

{this is so bad this is so bad -______- }

Mika
"Well," Mika began, pausing to look back at the girl, "some of the elders in our village were almost two thousand years old, but I've heard of some that live for much longer." He supposed that would be strange for her to think about, seeing as how Mika himself was much older than many humans even got the chance to be. By the time a human reached seventy-five, he was wrinkled and nearly unable to do all but the most basic of tasks.

He jumped when Thelduin crept in, having not even noticed the other elf's presence. "I'm not sure where Sitara is; last I saw, she was with you," he answered as he readjusted the plates in his grip. A sandwich at a feast... The thought made him smile. "I'll go find Zyla. Sundari, would you care to join me? I'm sure she and Borealis are chatting."

ok ok i'm just skipping to the feast to get this moving again. mika and sundari can continue their flirty moments later x]

Thelduin

"Welcome everyone, riders new and old," He started, standing at the end of the long ice table. Most of the riders had shown up, but a few were running late or just returning from the distant town that would join later. Most of which were the old riders, that had seen him before and knew who he was. A lot of the riders in front of him had joined in his absence, and he was just as clueless about them as they were with him. "My name is Thelduin, and I am the rider of the dragon Oblaan. For those of you who I have not met yet, I am here to help guide you on what it means to be a rider should you need help."

He looked across at the array of riders lining down the sides of the table, and then lifted an ice glass in front of his plate. "I have not been here for a while, and a lot of you I don't know. Hell, there were only three riders the last time I visited. I hope you will all forgive me, and I do hope you enjoy the food. I am open for any questions you may have, but first, let us eat," He finished with a small smile, eager to dig into the food.

After everyone had gotten their plate full, he took what he wanted from the array of food. All the dragons lined their riders' backs, snapping up bits of food here and there as they pleased. He listened to the small chatter that filled the table, but for the most part it seemed everyone stuck to who they already knew. He talked to a few of the riders that he had known from before, and then turned to the three that he had been talking to earlier. "How do you guys like the food?"

Sundari

She sat near the middle, beside Mika, since he was the only one here she knew aside from Sitara. Hopefully she would be able to make friends with the rest of the riders at the feast. Sure they had told her their names, but of course, she had already forgotten. Instead of starting small talk after Thelduin was finished talking, she turned her attention to the food.

"This even looks much better than I can cook," She said, taking a knife and cutting off some turkey onto her plate. "I'm surprised there was frozen turkey in there, I only thought they lived where I used to. Must have been a long journey for whoever brought it originally." She finished arranging her plate, selecting from the vegetables and fruits and pastas. It wasn't a palace feast, but it certainly was the most food she'd ever seen in one place; enough for ten of both rider and dragon. And the best tasting, too. It was a wonder the hot food didn't melt the ice plates, but she assumed the old elf had protected them with magic.

Ulalie

"I think it is ravishing," The dragon said, licking some sauce off of her maw. "I did not know venison would taste so good in garlic." She snapped a bit more up from her rider's plate before turning to the two white dragons at her side. "I know we just went hunting, but I cannot stop eating this," She said with a small laugh.

{YOU'RE BACK I LOVE YOU *fast forward noise* okay this is gonna be long because i have to introduce Kyra :D }

Mika
"Well, it's much better than sandwiches," Mika said in reply to Thelduin with a pointed glance at Sundari. He popped a strawberry into his mouth--Strawberries! In the middle of winter!--and closed his eyes to relish the taste. Beside him, Zyla gnawed on a haunch of some sort. He thought it might have been pork. She looked up at him and let out a sound that was between a growl and a purr; he had come to know it as a positive sound.

As Mika reached forward to grab a spoonful of what looked like custard, he froze. A beautiful blue dragon was prancing into the dining hall, with horns that resembled deer antlers. The glob of custard on the spoon almost plopped off before Mika recovered his bearings and brought it quickly to his plate. Zyla hissed next to his ear.

Who is that? she grumbled, eyes narrowing as she tracked the other dragon's movements. He looks pompous.

The elf snorted in laughter. So like you, then? Her wings opened, thwacking him on the head in annoyance. "Hey!" Mika protested aloud. He turned to Thelduin, eyes still on the blue dragon, and echoed Zyla's question. "Who is that?"

Kyrathiel
She didn't want to go to this feast. Really, she didn't even want to do anything but stay deep in the bowels of the glacier, avoiding the new recruits. They were always so annoying--overly excitable, running around learning how to fly and use magic like children. She'd been among the very first to arrive at the glacier, and had put herself in charge of things like magical upkeep and clipped, brisk introductions in Thelduin's absence. Now, she was cooking for the very event she had no interest in.

Come now, lirimaer. Thelduin has at long last returned, and you would disregard his invitation? Aion spoke in her mind, sensing her disquiet.

She sighed outwardly. It is not Thelduin I have a problem with seeing. Of course it was petulant of her not to go; surely no one would notice if she stayed behind a while, though?

Amin nauva auta yeste'. You will follow.

It still made Kyra smile at the fact that, even after all their time away from the glade, Aion still chose elvish phrases over the common tongue. He would go first, then. Her dragon sent her a mental image of himself walking through the corridors to the dining hall. Very well, she replied, wiping her hands on a towel and exiting the kitchen.

After she was winding through the various hallways--she knew them well enough by now not to get lost--Aion showed her a picture of a familiar face as seen by his eyes. She stopped mid-step.

Mikaviel? Her pace resumed, quicker this time. How was he here?

I remember him from the memories you have shown me. His dragon is behind him. He left the link open, allowing Kyra to view the table secondhand.

The dark-haired elf sat near Thelduin and a blonde human girl, and was backed by a very unique white dragon. Kyra bit her lip in thought, almost to the dining hall. This was impossible.

Sundari

She gave a small laugh, but nodded. "No offense, but yes, much better than sandwiches. You did really well with all of this food, Thelduin," she said, taking a second helping of chicken. Chicken -- she hadn't seen a chicken since she left the south. How they managed to get such a variety of food up here was a mystery to her. If it were her job to gather all their food, they'd most likely eat ice and deer year round. While she could create a meal fit for a king in her home, she had no clue what there was to cook with up in the frozen north.

"That is one strange looking beast," Sundari heard Ulalie growl from above, just as Mika seemed to ask a question she didn't hear. The dragon certainly was strange looking. Almost snake-like, and feathered? She and Ulalie thought Zyla had looked strange -- this beast was definitely unknown to them.

Thelduin

He looked up from eating, not noticing another had entered because he had shut his mind. Too many people, it was starting to give him a headache, he wasn't used to it. He was expecting the dragon to be some new person that he didn't know yet, but instead was surprised when it was Aion. Well, not surprised, as Aion was the social one of the pair. He would have been surprised if it were Kyra, but she was not by his side, usual. She wasn't one to party much, he knew.

"That would be Aion. His rider should be coming, I hope. They have been here the longest out of all the riders here," Thelduin said, turning to Mika and Sundari. Kyra was probably still in the kitchen, cleaning up after she had helped him cook for the feast. Honestly, he wans't sure if she would even come or not, but he hoped she would so they could all actually get to know one another. It seemed all of the riders were staying close to themselves and only talking to their small, select group of friends.

{can we say "uninspired"?}

Mika
"Aion..." Mika murmured, testing the name in his mouth. It sounded familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He shrugged and relaxed back into his seat--a high-backed chair carved from ice that was surprisingly not cold. He suspected magic. After all, his motto was "When in doubt, suspect magic."

It was still strange to think that there were other Riders; then again, he and Zyla had been on their own for a very long time. It made sense that others had heard of this coalition sooner than they had. He briefly wondered about the blue dragon's rider. What type of person could befriend such a dragon? He guarded his admiration from Zyla so as not to make her jealous; her glare could roast him in an instant, absence of fire-breathing abilities be damned.

Brushing his thoughts aside, Mika observed the rest of the table. There were a number of faces he'd never seen before, all nibbling gingerly on their meals and sharing in superficial conversation. A few were in little cliques, and he thought he could pick out similarities in those that grouped together. It would be nice to get to know them all--they needed to stick together, after all--but some of the humans looked pretty snarky. Probably envious of my dashing good looks, he thought in mocking arrogance.

"So, Sundari, did you have many friends back at your home?" he asked, trying to make small talk. The room was quiet and whispery enough as it was.

Kyra
The glacier's tunnels were relaxing to walk through; it was like being underwater but being able to breathe. Kyra looked down at her apron she'd forgotten to take off. Pausing her steps, she reached a hand behind her and untied the back, then folded it and threw it on top of a barrel in a storage niche. She'd probably come back this way after she made her appearance.

Aion's consciousness was niggling at the back of her head and she could almost hear him telling her to hurry. Luckily for him, he knew better than to rush her. Apron off and clothes dusted free of flour, Kyra continued into the dining hall with a flick of her thick, wavy hair. Her dragon was waiting calmly by the entryway, busying himself with grooming his face.

There was no time for talking to Aion, though; she had important matters to attend to. Almost feverishly, she searched the long tables for the dark-haired elf Aion had shown her. Her eyes landed on him and narrowed before she stalked toward the table with long strides.

Stay calm, lirimaer. He does not know. Aion's voice was firm, always a constant in her mind. She glanced back at him to see that he was watching with interest, grooming abandoned.

Kyra huffed a sigh and decided to approach Thelduin first. He was the one who had asked her to attend, anyway. Whether Mikaviel noticed her or not was to be seen. She forced herself to slow her steps.

"Good evening, Thelduin. I see you've settled in nicely after your trip... Might you introduce me to some of the new Riders?" It took every ounce of willpower not to look at Mikaviel: she didn't want to cause a scene.
