{omg now I'm being slow, sorry guys >-< i think we should fast forward lol...also i feel like 70% of my posts are of Mika talking about how cold he is XD} Aside from the mountain ranges that would always look large, the rest of the world seemed to be set in miniature. This is what Mika loved about flying: feeling like he wasn't just a fleeting speck in time, but instead a roaming giant that could cross plains and hills and rivers without pause. He let his mind drift while Zyla did the steering, but still kept his eyes on the trio in front of them. Zyla didn't seem to have any trouble keeping up, which was a good sign, though she gave the other dragon a wide berth. It was a good idea--Borealis might need to make a sudden wide maneuver, and interrupting another dragon's path of flight could have severe consequences for both parties involved. The two elves on the back of Borealis appeared to be pretty relaxed, which Mikaviel took as a good sign. They even looked unaffected by the cold wetness of the sky--no icicles in their hair, no bundled up faces...if he squinted, he noticed a slight shimmering around their vicinity. Magic, dammit. If only I'd learned, he thought to himself with a shiver. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Don't worry, you're both faster at replying than I am to most of my roleplays. D: I feel so bad but honestly I just forget or have no inspiration to write. And sure!) After what felt like an eternity of flying, even for an elf, the vast glacier soon came into view. At least, from what he could see of it. The thick blanket of white clouds obscured most view of below, which was something of a comfort to him at the thought of falling off the dragon, but occasionally they would split on the horizon and it would come into sight. He couldn't help but think that time got slower the closer it seemed they were. It was taking an eternity to fly, even though he sure the lady's dragon was as fast as she said he was. It was most likely due to his new found dislike for this style of flying, real flying. Normally he didn't have a problem with heights, but being this far up and with nothing but a few leather straps to hold him in, the ground approaching fast before him ending in a splat didn't seem too friendly. Yes, magic could save him, but he still didn't like the thought of falling off a dragon's back. 0 players like this post! Like? |

~Sitara~ At last, the glacier came into view. Just a few minutes later, and it loomed impossibly close. Now was the tricky part. The entrance to the glacial cave network was hidden in a wide yet shallow fissure at an angle that made it appear like a small indentation in the ice until you were too close to change directions. The actual entrance would come into view, and you would have to act quickly to get a good landing on the rough ice. Boreas new how to get in and out perfectly by this point in time, but the same could not be said for the two newbies that had never been to the cave before. There was no way to communicate with them save through telepathy, and she did not trust Mikaviel enough to open her mind to him fro something so simple as a warning. They would have to follow Boreas' movements precisely. ~Borealis~ He grew anxious and impatient as the glacier loomed closer and closer. He wanted to increase his pace, but couldn't at the risk of leaving Mikaviel and Zyla behind. Finally, the entrance was near. This was the tricky part: he usually did some maneuvers to make sure that any hostile persons looking to get in would be confused. Boreas didn't feel comfortable doing these either. It might just confuse the others. So, they would have to risk it. It was unlikely anyone was watching, and the members at the cave were often doing mental scans to make sure there were no threats nearby, but you could never be too careful. The white dragon began dropping his altitude, then leveled out when he was a few meters above the top of the glacier. His eyes scanned the ice for the tell-tale signs of something amiss. Nothing seemed strange about the area, so he circled back. Just as he reached the edge of the glacier, he dropped off the side, plummeting a few meters. Too late he realised that this act might... upset... Thelduin. Oh well. He then cut into the fissure, swooping with his right wing lifted so his body was turned at an angle. He quickly straigntened out and glided into the entrance. He reared, wings slapping the air at a fast speed so he didn't crash head-long into an icy wall. He quickly scrambled out of the way so Zyla could get in, his claws leaving shredded ice in his wake. 0 players like this post! Like? |

{Fly, you're totally fine. I think this is a nice pace. I hate feeling pressured to post, it takes the fun out of RPing! Also I doodled up a reference of the glacier opening and the front "room" I guess...just as I see them in my head. They aren't very good, but do you guys wanna see?} Even through his eyes watering from the frigid air, Mika could see Borealis's change in flight. Zyla, are you ready? he thought. As I'll ever be. You better hang on...that ice looks slippery. The serpentine dragon flattened her body once again for air resistance, angling it against the wind to create some drag. It didn't slow her down much, but it would help as they neared the large mountain of ice. She watched the other dragon's movements intently, trying to commit them to memory in the short amount of time she had before it was her turn to act. As the glacier's opening approached, Zyla pivoted her wings forward, keeping them spread as much as she could without scraping the sides of the crack. Her aim had to be perfect... Claws outstretched and raking the ice for purchase, she shot through the opening. Her body was too massive to slow down by any great means, and as her tail whipped around she and Mika were sent spinning and sliding on the bottom of the entranceway. "Shit, Zy!" Mika cried in alarm, clutching the horn of her saddle. After a couple full turns, Zyla slammed into a wall with a resounding thud. The wood elf groaned. "Oh gods, that'll take some practice." A low growl/huff came from Zyla--not the good, exasperated-sounding one, either. Mika immediately leapt off the saddle and opened his mind wide open to his companion. What he felt--albeit mentally, the sensation felt like it was within his own body--was varying degrees of discomfort. Can you breathe? Tell me if this hurts, he crooned telepathically, sending soothing thoughts as he ran his hands up and down the left side of the dragon's body where she had collided with the ice. It was easy for her to break a rib; they made up most of her bone structure and were lightweight compared with her more solid arm bones and horns. I don't feel any pain. That was a bit disorienting... her thoughts stilled as she rose stiffly, looking around the room. "This is beautiful," she exclaimed quietly. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Agh, I do too. I hate it when I'm PMd reminding me to post in a group rp. It almost makes me want to not post at all haha. And I'd love to see it! o: I honestly don't have a great image of it in my head right now and I'd love to be able to picture it how you do xD) He hadn't expected the dragon to drop so suddenly. Their change in altitude was sudden, but nothing too bad. They were nearing the glacier, and needed to drop a lot of altitude to be able to enter it. Which was another thing to worry about. While he had entered on the stupid hippogriff mostly, he had no idea how the riders with dragons entered. He'd watched a few times but couldn't really remember anything specific. Some had issues with it, and some could enter as if tit was part of their daily routine, which honestly it wasn't for many. A lot only left the glacier when needed. Hopefiully it'd just be a nice, gradually slowing glide into the glacier's entrance. The dragon had circled, and suddenly dropped. Thelduin gripped the horn of the saddle, watching as the ground approached in their near vertical descent. That wasn't even the worst part -- the sudden and sharp right banking of the dragon nearly flung him out of the saddle. He held on for his life, until they were inside the glacier. Even the landing was rough, and sent up a spray of ice behind them from the dragon's claws. Not too long after Zyla's snake-like body came sliding across the ice. Only, having only forearms, she couldn't slow herself as the other dragon could. She rammed with a slap into the icy wall that the dragon he was riding managed to avoid. "Are you okay?" He asked, worrying for Zyla's thin bone structure. He assumed that like a snake, most of her body was made up of ribs that could be easily cracked. While he wanted to get off and inspect her or offer to use magic to heal her if she needed it, he didn't quite yet. His guide might not want him to move until she gave her permission, and with no others around at the moment, no one could prove that he actually was who he said he was. (You guys can make up random NPCs if you want or create new characters so it's more populated than just three people xD And if either of you want to play like the leader at the glacier you can) 0 players like this post! {okay like i said they aren't great XD but here and here three's a party XD but i have another character in the works!} "I am unharmed," Zyla replied to Thelduin, switching her attention from the beautiful, sparkling room to the elf. "But thank you for your concern." To prove her statement, she pushed herself up and slithered away from the wall. There were many stalagmites protruding from the floor; it was lucky she hadn't hit one of them. She really did feel fine--the impact had knocked the wind out of her, but nothing felt broken or even badly bruised. Mika bent down to examine the floor's reflections. It made his face look weird. "I think we've had enough crazy flying for one day." Turning to Sitara, he added, "Do we get to see a tour, or are we in a 'fend for yourself' situation?" He didn't know what the rules were for this sort of place. Sitara seemed like she was the boss, or at least could be, but he also didn't know where this Thelduin guy played in. The whole thing was pretty shady, to be sure, but his curiosity was too great to just leave now and evade potential danger. 0 players like this post! Like? |

((Yo, thanks Charle! I sorta tried to create an image of it in my last post, but this is great! And ok Fly :3 I have to agree with both of you, it's nice that this isn't a very pressurized RP)) ~Sitara~ Sitara waited until Zyla and Mikaviel had made their landing before getting off Boreas. If something went awry, then the safest place to be was atop her white partner. Zyla's entrance was anything but graceful, and the dragoness slammed painfully into a solid wall of ice. Sitara might have found it funny, if there wasn't the threat of being speared by a stalactite of ice shaken loose from the impact. When the serpentine dragon came to a halt, she practically pushed Thelduin from the saddle. Sitara immediately hopped down, and began checking Boreas feet for cuts. Their minds were linked as usual, and he showed her where to find some icy slivers in his back foot. When she had finished caring for the white dragon, she turned to Mikaviel, head tilted slightly in thought. "Hm, I suppose if you have any questions, you could ask anyone here, including Thelduin and myself. But if you are truly unsure of yourselves, then I suppose it wouldn't kill me to show you around and give you the basics. We actually have another new member that arrived here... not three days ago. I've forgotten her name. At any rate..." she left her sentence open so Mikaviel could decide what he wanted to do. Thelduin was obviously of higher rank than her, having founded the New Riders, and there were a few others that had been here longer than her, but since it had been she who encountered Mikaviel, then perhaps it was only right for her to show him around. Sitara didn't particularly care, in any case. ~Borealis~ Watching Zyla reminded him of when Sitara and he had discovered the cave. They had been scouting for the past week, having heard rumors of dragons nesting in the great glacier. But the hulking mountain of ice had been an impossible task. The two had figured they would see dragons coming to and fro, and while there had been a couple of incidences, they could never pinpoint where they were coming from. At last, someone must have noticed them, likely because Sitara tried making mental contact. After a tense conversation with two suspicious and weary Riders, they had been allowed to enter, and eventually join. However... their first entrance? Had not bee pretty. Boreas had nearly broken his wings misjudging the entrance. Of course, he'd been small then, but his wings had always been decently sized. After that harsh scraping, Boreas slid accross the ice, overbalanced on his front legs, with his hind ones sticking up in the air, and fell into a lovely pile that left both of them bruises. Sitar had been terribly ashamed, and Boreas awfully embarrassed, with the other Riders laughing and giggling at them. It seemed everyone had an awkward first-entry, but theirs was one of the worst, apparently. After Sitara helped him with his feet, he moved check out Zyla. He felt a bit more friendly toward her now that he was in his territory. 0 players like this post! Like? |

{*frantically performs CPR on dying roleplay* BREATHE, DAMN YOU} Mikaviel ran his hand down his dragon's scales, trying to decide the best course of action. He didn't know where anything was or if there were any places off-limits, but it would be interesting to explore. "I think we'll be fine on our own," he said to Sitara. "I don't want to take up either of your time, anyways; I'm sure you're ready to relax after the trip. Although....can you direct me to a place I can put my stuff?" Surely there had to be bedrooms or at least communal sleeping quarters, hopefully with chests or shelves or something. Needless to say, he'd find some separate hidey hole for his valuables regardless of the available storage spaces--he didn't know anyone here, and he was only barely acquainted with Sitara and Thelduin. If someone took his arrowhead collection, he would be very upset. As Mika spoke, Zyla was watching Borealis watch her. It wasn't discomforting, but she did feel wary. The fact that there were others of her kind still intrigued her; she was eager to learn more, but didn't want to make the first move to interact as this was not her domain. Instead of speaking, vocally or telepathically, she tilted her large, horned head and made a chuffing noise in an attempt at affability. {ugh short post, sorry} 0 players like this post! Like? |

((*Ambulance sirens* WE'VE GOT THIS. Does anyone have important medical information on this Roleplay?!)) ~Sitara~ It seemed to her Mikaviel wasn't very sure of what to do, but being... perhaps intimidated? Or more unsure of himself in the new environment? Was effecting his normal way of thinking. This elf had obviously been on his own fro some time, and must have been used to making his own decisions and finding his own way around different circumstances. Sitara noticed Zyla and Boreas checking each other out, and decided it was a good idea to proceed the same way she had with Sundari and her dragon. Speaking of whom... maybe if she introduced the two newbies, they would feel less awkward? It was a tactical decision of course; if she left them with each other, Sitara wouldn't have to deal with them. "Alright, I'll show you around a bit, and Boreas will guide Zyla. We have another newer member... You'll likely meet her," Sitara said, then gestured for Mikaviel to follow her. She began to lead him through the maze of ice to the area pocketed with room-sized caverns. ~Borealis~ Having recently been through the "guide" with Ulalie, Boreas agreed to guide Zyla. Sitara did not wait for anyone else to decide, and Boreas felt a weensy bit embarrassed at her brashness. "Greetings, Zyla. We dragons have our own accommodations, but most sleep with our Riders in their quarters anyways," Boreas said, with a mixture of mental speak and gestures. He padded off a bit, then turned to make sure Zyla would follow. 0 players like this post! Like? |

{*throws medical files at Celebi* XD Fly, I'm in the same boat haha...like it just started so it should be easy, but nooooo.} "Another lovely lady Rider? I like this place already," Mikaviel joked. Sitara had somehow picked up on his uneasiness and decided to show him the ropes, and Mika was relieved that he wouldn't have to deal with this new place on his own. It wasn't that he couldn't get along with just about anyone; he had mastered the art of choosing which facets of his personality to show to varying people. But this was different from anywhere he'd ever been, and as far as he knew the only thing he had in common with anyone here was that he was a Rider. Taking a breath to steel himself, Mika began to follow after Sitara. Zyla, don't bite anyone's head off. Borealis is going to show you around. I'll be within mind's reach, the elf thought to his comrade. Zyla nodded at Mika and turned her attention to Borealis, who had begun to speak with her through thought. He had a warm quality to his connection--Zyla felt like she didn't have to be quite so on her guard. She was glad to hear that she would be allowed to sleep with Mika in his room, and thinking about the different quarters made her curious about the rest of the glacier's layout. "Are there many other dragons here?" Zyla asked with her thought-voice as she slithered eagerly after him. "And are they white like you and me?" Since Borealis was the first of her kind she'd seen, she was interested to learn if there even more different appearances. Realizing that she probably sounded like an excited little fledgling, she internally chastised herself. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Agh I am so sorry guys. D: Just continue without me if I ever can't get on, I am so sorry for keeping you two waiting. And I can't wait to see her Charle! This is about to get interesting. >:D Wee I sketched Oblaan and Thelduin. xD I've had the two of them for a while, so this is what their original versions are outside of this roleplay. God Thelduin you stupid idiot your sword won't help you and neither will your stupid walking stick. He has to be facing away so I can't screw up his pretty elf face. xD http://oi61.tinypic.com/3020wh3.jpg) Thelduin "How many riders are here now?" Thelduin looked around the entrance of their glacial cavern for a moment, and then looked at Sitara. Not very many had been there the last time he was there. Rarely one showed up within a year, but now there was talk of a few more riders he hadn't heard of before. Maybe the word was spreading about their organization, and more lone riders were seeking training. That would definitely be good to strengthen their numbers, but it could also bring unwanted attention. "Do you want me to accompany you two?" He asked, fine with either answer they could reply. He wouldn't mind venturing through the glacier's labyrinth of icy corridors, but also his old room here was calling his name. Nothing sounded better than a nap right now, especially after the fear of falling any second thousands of feet in the air. Ulalie As Sundari was busy designing what she could of the icy room, Ulalie spent her time wandering the vast cavern within the glacier where the dragons roamed. It was far vast enough for her small figure, and even with all the dragons' sizes combined, they only took of a small fraction of the space. She wagered multiple full-grown dragons could live in the glacier, and still have room for plenty more. Hell, even an ancient beast could fit in the vast cavern, possibly two or three. No wonder the old riders had chosen this place as their headquarters, she thought. Maybe food and supplies were a bit hard to come by up here, but space was definitely not. 0 players like this post! ((It's seriously fine Fly o0o Just as long as you don't completely abandon us xD And yo, that pic's gonna be epic)) ~Sitara~ She spared a glance at Thelduin, and actually slowed her pace so he could catch up. Thelduin may be the boss around here but it seemed he didn't know much about the Riders or their cave. But either the male elf hadn't been here in a while, or never had, because he seemed almost as unsure of himself as Mikaviel. "You may do as you wish," she said, looking at Thelduin out of the corner of her eye. "As for how many Riders there are... I myself haven't counted, but there are about... ten give or take two or three..." Sitara as only acquainted with a few Riders, but she mostly observed the others rather than interact with them. Perhaps Borealis would know. Sitara continued at her fast-paced clip. After passing through the twisted and uneven passageways, Sitara and her followers arrived in the chamber-like area. There were a few other spots in the glacier that would work as rooms, but these were the most convenient, despite the misshapen halls. It occurred to the she-elf that new-comers might get lost in random dead-ends that forked off the main "hall". When Boreas and she had first arrived, the first thing they set out to do was learn their way around, and Sitara had made a decently sized mental map of the open parts of the glacier. "So, these here," she gestured slightly with her arm, "are the caverns we use for our chambers. As you can see... they have no doors. You will have to make your own. Along with any form of furniture. Now..." Sitara glanced about, recalling where Sundari had chosen to stay. Then she realised she had left without really paying attention to where Sundari had decided to stay. Refusing to become embarrassed, she gave the area a quick sweep with her mind, trying to see if one of the rooms was inhabited by the blond human. She found one a bit down the hall, and hoped it was the right person inside. Sitara knocked on the entrance, though it was a bit painful for her knuckles. Ice was not really meant to be knocked on. ~ Borealis ~ The white dragon hmmed at at Zyla's question. "There are about... ten or eleven Riders residing here with their dragons, so yes. Though we have all claimed a nook for ourselves, some will join their Riders for the night. Though... a few of us are getting a bit large for the smaller rooms. After a few minutes of silence, Boreas and his follower passed under a massive entrance and into the even more massive cavern within. (I'm gonna try to make a paragraph describing this section of the glacier. That ok with you guys? If not, I'll just edit it out :3 I figured it could be a bit similar to Farthen Dur from the Eragon series) The mamoth space had a mostly flat floor, with the occasional ridge or hill. The floor was covered in a thin layer of loose ice crystals, thanks to the dragons' claws that tread accross it. There were great pillars leading up to the cavern roof, but some had melted down to great stalagmites and stalactites. Two of these ice pillars were large enough for a dragon to gouge out a cave for him or herself, but none in the glacier were strong enough to do this without the help of their Rider's magic. For the other dragons, holes pocketed the walls of the cavern, some merely dents in the ice, and some big enough to house a hundred-year old dragon, and every size in between. Boreas was admiring the way the ice reflected the dim sunlight, making the cavern seem filled with light, when he spotted a familiar purple shape. He looked at Zyla from behind his shoulder. "Come, there is someone else here who is new. You might like to meet her," he said, unaware that Zyla was not the type to take warmly to new faces. The white dragon lifted off the ground with a push of his legs and sturdy flapping, making his way to Ulalie. 0 players like this post! Like? |
