------------------------------------------------------- The World -------------------------------------------------------
In a supernatural-dominated world, The United States had the most lax regulations on supernatural beings, causing most pure humans to have left for countries with stricter policies, such as Canada, which is human-only. In this world supernatural beings are known and have been a big part of history. Some countries (Most of eastern Europe) treat supernaturals as little better than animals, others have them as slaves (Africa), and others still regulate them like criminals, and lock them up for simply being born with certain powers (Western europe). Canada, of course, is a refuge for the puritans who believe humans are the superior species, and does not allow supernaturals within their borders.

My character Avery runs a supernatural medical centre in Central City, Colorado. He has been around for quite a while, and had money to spare, so he founded the centre with help of his friend's hoard. It's a open, spacious building with adaptations for all manner of creatures. Avery often goes on runs to other countries to save supernatural beings in deplorable situations, with input from Steven, an unknown being with a third eye and the ability to see anything, anywhere in the world. Steven was dropped off by an interdimensional rift in Miami, one of the most active areas for random supernatural activity. Avery often goes undercover as human on these runs, and risks his life and freedom. (Ideally I would like a team here) He brings back as many supernaturals as he can, and rehabilitates them in the centre. There is a team of healers and counselors at the centre as well, but he feels personally responsible for many of the people he brings back.

The friend mentioned earlier is a dragon.

------------------------------------------------------- The Centre -------------------------------------------------------
The Center is like a combination of Doctors Without Borders and the Mayo Clinic in this world, so any other place would have their own places- plus there are healers who can deal with most things in their town.

So, location wise, I was thinking Salida, but logistically it would have to be somewhere like Central City, which is what I am going with. That's an hour's drive from Denver International Airport. All observations are from the road. There are portals, which take people to the centre and back.

The centre is comprised of four buildings connected by tunnels- a skywalk and an underground tunnels- one filled with water so the creatures more comfortable in water can swim between the buildings should they choose. The buildings are connected because of the harsh winters.

The buildings are arranged in an arc around the parking lot, with a small airstrip to the left of the buildings. the building closest to the airstrip is for international patients- those brought by Avery seeking asylum. (There is a lot of paperwork Avery [read: Avery's friend Leo] does to allow that.) The first two floors of building closest to the road is for general patients- the clinic. The two buildings in between have different specialties- One building is for intense healing: Trauma, Oncology, Neuropathology, the like. The other is more mentally oriented, they deal with depression, anxiety, multiple personality disorder, and any number of other mental issues, and are open twenty four hours a day and see - at last count- over one hundred patients a day.

The building for international patients is somewhat of a mystery, no visitors aside from direct family are allowed and then they are usually not allowed past designated meeting rooms. There is another associated building in Denver itself that helps international patients get back on their feet in a completely different social structure. Any people who work there are carefully screened, and those who quit or retire are often bound under memory charms that are meant to protect patients and the supernaturals who work to help them.

The doctors are a mix of healers and those with no healing power, but they all are trained.

The buildings are all constructed with scent neutralizers, so as not to overwhelm the patients with enhanced senses- it can be a little disorienting, as the walls seem to absorb scents.

Those are the technical details- now for the visual description.

Driving up, there is very little to see on the highway, except the mountains trees, and snow, driving into the large parking lot there is a lot set aside for ambulances and trauma, just between the intense healing building and it's sister area in the clinic. A few doctors take shifts in the clinic trauma centre on a rotating basis. The other three buildings are respectively, five stories for international, four for intensive healing, and four for mental health. the buildings all look like a cross between grecian and modern architecture, supported by pillars. I can do descriptions for the second and third buildings if you need, but here's hoping we won't have much set in there.

In central Denver, Upper East Side New York, and Los Angeles, there is a white building with a green cross on the front, and a tiled entryway with one person manning a desk. Just inside the door a portal shows the main lobby, with flashes of light flickering around the edges of the image. passing through the portal would feel like putting your hand in jello, but your entire body.

Walking into (or being deposited by a portal into) the clinic building, you are greeted by a wide, open area five floors high, with balconies at each floor. There is a blue glass dome ceiling, letting the natural light in and refracting it. The building inside is white and grey, with Grecian style architecture. Pillars support each floor, each with a sconce that lights up as night falls. There are stairs to each floor, as well as elevators. To the right of the entrance is the waiting area, filled with comfortable chairs of various colors, and a small, set in pool that connects to the other buildings. Straight back is the general medicine, and to the left is injury and trauma. The clinic itself is about equal in capability to a hospital. The balcony above is lined with rooms- patients who made appointments are often seen there. Above that are the offices that keep the centre running, with scheduling and the like.

------------------------------------------------------- Species -------------------------------------------------------
Species in this world can be anything- even species with the same name can be different. For example, there could be werewolves that perpetually have wolf features and must turn on the full moon, or human-appearing werewolves that are only tempted to turn on the full moon, or anywhere in between.

I have a few species worked out, for which the rules will never change:

Changelings are the product of Fey Magic encountering a growing human soul. The more magic involved the more powerful the changeling will be. Modern genetic testing has proven that the changelings are genetically purely human, with any enhanced characteristics being the product of their magical influence.

Faeries (Seelie) are the only species no longer found anywhere on earth. originally they lived in a separate realm and travelled back and forth between their home, and this world. Political issues arose, and the seelie sealed themselves off somewhere around the 1700's

Dragons ; It is said they are as old as the earth and will die when it does. They used to be one, a hundred-headed dragon, each head with their own mind, named Ladon, but after failing to protect the tree of immortality, they were split in to a hundred different dragons. The main head, was cursed by the gods to be unable to interact with any of the other heads. Dragons cannot be killed. Ladon- the main head- knows this firsthand. The first few hundred years after he was separated he spent trying to die- until Avery got ahold of him. They meet up every few years for things now, and he was the one to help Avery found the Centre. So, dragons are always white, except Ladon, who has a red crest on his head. Ladon protests both their classification with the Eastern Ryuu and the Western Drako, preferring to be called a "Helenistic Drake"

~ARI~

Smiling at the Tatzelwurm, he gaze a series of chirps in return. The mention of fire made him lapse into silence, staring at Des for a few moments, a little suspiciously. Something so small could be so dangerous, yet look so incredibly cute and harmless. He wondered if they came in varying shades. Multicoloured? Do they like tiny things? Do they make tiny dragon hoards? Can they survive in the wild? Do they live alone, or in groups... how big are the groups? Are they as big as his Clan?-

As Leo gestured him over, the youth obediently rose to his feet, snapping out of his pondering with a look alike to confusion on his features for a moment. Soaking in the other's motion, his mouth formed an 'o' and he nodded. Ari watched Leo and his little friend start off towards the door, bounding over to join them. However, he was sure to give Des a wide berth, glancing warily at the scaled creature.

Biting the inside of his cheek, he glanced up and down the wooden door. "Are you doing all the doors, or just Andrea and I's?" although he figured only their door would be carved, it wouldn't hurt to clarify. As he waited, he began accumulating creative ideas. A sun... or maybe a moon. Or a cool, majestically rippling portal, to demonstrate that a portal-caster resided within.

Leo

Leo thought about the question. "Well, not everyone is here right now, Parrish and Ryers are out on a mission, and I wouldn't dare touch the girls rooms without permission. Steve can do his own room. I'll mark mine, so he can find it if he needs to, I don't think anyone could get lost crossing a hall, but I have long ago stopped underestimating people's ability to get lost." Leo shrugged, biting his lip as he detailed the petals of a rose bloom, and Des crawled down the door, blowing tiny, precise breaths of fire into the new divots and grooves in thee wood, to darken them. Des had been born in a woodcarving studio, and her owner had trained her to do this. She was efficient, wasting no flame, and nothing caught fire, leaving only a slight char. Wrinkling his nose at the scent, Leo looked up from his detailing, and motioned back towards his room. "Can you sketch? I have pencils in my room. If not, you can just tell me what you want." He shrugged, focusing.

When Leo was small, Avery and Ladon brought him to an art studio they owned and funded. They had insisted he learn some form of art, and he took to paint and woodcarving and sketching like he was made for it. At first he would cry and get frustrated at his imperfections, all the little details he couldn't quite draw yet, but Avery made him keep going to the studio, until he learned all the ways to smooth out his flaws. The sketching gave him steady hands, and patience. Woodcarving taught him his actions couldn't be reversed. Especially when he was working with his own claws. And painting... painting taught him colors, every shade and how they could be used to bring emotion from people. Avery and Ladon had wanted him to learn those things in the most creative way possible, even though they all knew he was born to be a warrior.

Nehema

Tilting her head, she focused on the blossoms in her hand as he explained. There were entire species of supernaturals that were nonbinary, so it made sense there would be the same in other dimensions. Steve may have only barely blushed, but Nehema was sure she flushed a little too, towards the end. "I-it does make things easier, I suppose..." She managed a rueful grin, resting the branch on her lap. "I-I've asked you several personal questions, so I guess its only fair that you can ask me whatever you want now." Really, the pheonix did feel kinda bad about being so personal, after the man had found her intruding on the Runner's floor.

Andrea

Taking his bags as quickly as they were handed to him, Andrea headed for the portal and stepped inside without paying much mind to what Aridion was saying; all he wanted to do at the moment was leave before making an even bigger ass of himself than he already had. Moments later, he was stepping back into the Centre and the portal was closing behind him with a familiar fuss sound, like a tire losing air.

The Caster was quick to locate and retreat to a non-populated area, which he could only guess was a janitor's closet. That was unimportant. What mattered was that there was enough place for him to toss his burden off. And enough privacy for him to draw in all the air in the room then release it in the form of a furious roar of frustration before lying face-down on the floor to sulk about the delayed processing Aridion's words: not only did it turn out he knew Avery, but he dared end up with a compliment! Andrea would've loved to punch him.

After moping around for a while, the Caster more or less dragged himself out of the closet and down the hallways aimlessly, as usual; but this time, because he lacked any idea about where he was supposed to go. He needed to talk to someone, to his mentor; but Avery was busy. And the last thing Andrea wanted was to make a bad impression to this man.
"Avery Waite. We need to talk." the Caster projected weakly, trying both his feeble power of telepathy and the 'thinking loudly' maneuver that Avery suggested. He wasn't sure either of those worked. The only way to find out was to wait...

Avery

Avery startled when he felt a surge of turmoil from his apprentice, and he made a quick apology to Mhari before sensing out Andrea's location. Jogging through the halls, Avery couldn't help wonder at the urgency he sensed. He was outside the small room in barely a minute. It wasn't actually a supply closet, but a shelter room he had dotted all of the buildings of the Centre with. Small and with a door that locks from the inside, they were meant to keep people from being overwhelmed.

Avery sat down across the hall, and waited for Andrea to gather himself. Soon the Caster peeked out of the room, wandering down the hall. Avery followed a distance behind, watching carefully. He fell to his knees at what felt like a shout in his head, and he closed the distance quickly. It would have been barely enough to reach him, had he not been listening so intently, but as it was, the projection hurt. Avery drew close, settling his hands on the Caster's shoulders in an unknowing mirror of Aridion's actions earlier. "I'm here. What is it?" He tried projecting reassurance and calm, but he was out of practice.

Andrea

A shriek came as response to Avery's actions, and the Caster's body stiffened visibly in the blink of an eye. He spun around to face his mentor, as composed as possible in such a short notice; he couldn't appear so distraught before Avery. "God, you certainly know how to scare someone, Avery Waite." Andrea greeted in a faked mirth, his breath still heavy.

He grabbed a firm hold of Avery's hand and took off in a swift pace back down the hall to the room he had just exited. "Were you still with Mhari? I'm sorry I had to interrupt, it was most insensitive of me to disturb your conversation with an old friend that I don't doubt for a second you would've rather conversed with..." He spoke in a hurried tone, almost as to finish before esentially shoving his mentor and himself inside the sheltering space.

"So I'll make this quick. I went shopping in Seconcruise, to get the bare necessities for me and Ari and meet some old friends, and stumbled across a man that, um, kind of saved me out of a pickle- And... flirted with me." - that part was mumbled - "He claimed he knows you- Um- James. A-A... Aridion James!" Andrea basically shouted the man's name in a fit of victorious uproar; only to fall in bitter disappointment immediately after. So what if this stranger knew Avery? Many people knew Avery. So with that came questioning: Was this impulse to talk to his mentor actually rooted in a fear, was it just a silly feeling... Or was it just the childish need to whine about a little heartbreak?

Andrea took a few step back until he felt the cold surface of the door against his back; an inescapable feeling of shame was rising inside of him. He'd just disturbed his mentor for no reason at all, just bexause Aridion's predatory nature set off his until then sleeping prey instinct. It was all just a silly feeling, and Avery wasn't there for his feelings, he was there to be a teacher. Just as earlier on, his jaw was quivering, he was almost in tears - for whatever reason that even he scolded himself of. "I don't know what came over me... I wasted your time. I wasted your time on nothing. God! - I promised I'd make a good apprentice that would be easy to deal with, and- I- Failed. I am so, so, so, so sorry... I promise it won't happen again! I'm really not like this all the time. I- Swear."

(You won't exhaust me with long replies.... I just worry I'm annoying you that I can't match)

Avery

Avery didn't a second to smooth his feathers, ruffled from Andrea's shriek, as he was essentially towed down the hall. "Sorry." Avery muttered, unheard. For such a small being, Andrea was quite strong. Avery wasn't sure if he was surprised, or approving. Approving. Definitely.

Avery decided to keep quiet as Andrea stuffed him in the shelter room, quickly casting a witchlight to illuminate the dark space. Andrea may not notice the dark, but Avery wanted to be aware of his surroundings. Avery went to deny that Andrea had been insensitive... or even that he would rather talk to Mhari. A work friend was all she was, it was simply polite to talk to her, while Andrea... was new. Shiny and interesting. But he didn't het the chance as Andrea simply kept steamrolling him with his words.

Avery listened intently, unsure who Ari was, or why Andrea would go so far for a shopping trip, but he withheld comment, only to feel like someone had pulled the rug out from under his feet. Aridion. He tried not to cringe at the shouted words in the small space. Aridion was in Seconcruise. He felt a sudden impulse to go there, find him, but he wasn't sure his company would be appreciated- they hadn't parted on such great terms. It surprised Avery none that Aridion was flirting with Andrea. If anything, it gave him confidence that Red was okay.

Well, stabbing someone is definite reason to be concerned for them.

He focused back on Andrea just in time to see him back up into the door, shame clouding the room. Avery remained impassive as Andrea kept rambling, before finally walking forward to lean his forehead against Andrea's own. "Okay, obviously there are a couple things we need to address. Now." He sighed, and stepped back.

"One, No apprentice is easy to deal with. I knew this when I agreed to take you on." His voice was exasperated, tired and warm as he leaned against the opposite wall. "Two, as my apprentice, you have a priority right to waste my time. Aside from my son, Ladon, and Steve, you are my concern. You weren't interrupting me doing anything I would have gotten upset over. Even if you hadn't called me, I probably would have needed to ask you about it at some point. I don't know if you knew this or not, I'm beginning to get the feeling you were a bit out of touch- I'm an empath. Pretty famously so. I sensed you weren't in the best state, so that's why I was so close at hand. He was gesturing as his spoke, voice rising as he spoke about his empathic ability.

Taking a second to calm, Avery closed his eyes, the next words soft. "Aridion and I have a long history. I know personally how overwhelming his attention can be, and I hold you at no fault over not handling it well. Red is.... unique. He saved me from a place I would like to forget, and we stayed together after. He taught me how to lie, and how to act, and how to make my enemies destroy themselves. He is who Ladon calls when he can't handle me anymore."

Avery blinked, taking a second. Oh no. He didn't just say all of that, did he? No. He needs to show some semblance of professionalism, he's a mentor, he needs to be someone Andrea can respect, not... oh no.

Steve

Steve looked away, trying to think of something to ask. He was a little embarrassed, but this was a change from his continual rambling. He honestly couldn't think of anything. "I mean... I only have basic questions like.... where are you from?" He asked softly, still studying the ground. He was struggling to regain his usual demeanor, the previous line of conversation had knocked him off balance.

Nehema

It didn't escape Nehema's notice that Steve was rather flustered, and a pit of guilt settled in her chest. She truly hadn't meant to make him uncomfortable. Despite of how wary of people she was normally, and how wary of him she had been at first, the pheonix was becoming more comfortable with him than she had with anyone in a long time. "W-well... I hatched in the mountains of Greece, near what is now Kalambaka. Of course, this was back in the times of Ancient Greece, sometime in the 12th or 11th Century BC if I'm remembering correctly." The redhead trailed off for a moment, seemingly. Lost in thought, before shaking her head. If she kept talking, maybe steve would be less incomfortable. "I stayed there a long time, through my first regeneration at least. Since then I've been moving around. Phoenixes are pretty solitary creatures, so it never really occured to me to stay in one place after my 'first flame' as we call it."

~ARI~

With a bob of his head, signalling his understanding, he couldn't help but glance at Leo's lip as it was pulled between his teeth, the other clearly concentrating on his work, even as his spoke. The flare that had been somewhat dormant within him sparked, temptation cursing his mind. With a firm straightening of his lean physique, he averted his lingering gaze untoward the serpentine creature, Des, as she blemished the new indents marring the wood with soft whispers of flame. The dancing red and orange, blue hinting from the centre enveloped each portion of the door with accuracy and excellent precision. It was made clear they knew exactly what they were doing.

So fixated was he upon observing the efficient cooperation both man and beast were practising, he hardly managed to draw himself away from the glorious bursts of fire escaping the jaws of the petite feline-headed dragon in time to catch Leo's words. "O-Oh! Uh, I can try." scrunching his brows together, he made a face. It was true that he was no professional artist, but he liked to think he had some limit of skill from drawing on trees or in the dirt in his free time, whether it be in animal or human form. With the smell of burnt wood wafting behind him, the dhole-shifter spun on his heel and darted back into Leo's quaint room.

A quick scan of the counters revealed a pot of sharpened pencils, a sketchbook propped beside it neatly. Retrieving the items quickly, he bit his lip and wrinkled his nose, his expression adorably thoughtful as he contemplated ideas. Finally flipping the sketchbook to a clean page, he lifted to pencil and began to lightly skim the lead over the paper. Tottering out of Leo's room, a tad unsteady as he gave all his attention to the sketch, he leaned against the wall, a short distance away from the door currently being worked on. Soon enough, petals and flowers began to appear around the rim of the page, curling in towards the middle. However, he left the centre clear for a few moments, before creating a rippling, ivy-ridden portal, encased in the beauty of the flora spanning out towards the far reached of the white surface. After another second, he rubbed out the flowers in each top corner, drawing in a crescent moon on the left, and a sun with wavy rays emanating from the main orb. With a smile sitting contentedly upon his lips, he turned to Leo and tentatively turned the page towards the other. "Er, here's, uh, an idea?" he suggested shyly, fingers tapping softly against the paper, drumming to the beat of his heart. "I hope it's not too, uh, too complicated. But it's fine if, uh, if it is."

Andrea

The Caster was instantly silenced frozen when he felt his mentor drawing so close, a precarious feeling of calm installing within him while his heart yet pounded heavily with the sound traversing his whole body. He gave a nod to his mentor's statement, accepting, and fell in wait to listen; widened to a completely round shape, the milky white orbs of his eyes glistened hauntingly under the beam of the witchlight.

He blinked a couple times, acknowledging. On the brink of exhaustion, his mind wasn't exactly doing a good job at processing what he had just heard; besides, he wasn't the wittiest person usually.
Relief replaced the strong feeling of shame, though feeble like a flame flickering its last rays before dying out. Nonetheless, it made Andrea manage to feel less guilty and a lot less tensed as well, maybe even breaking the ghost of a smile. Hearing that Avery could feel his emotions, maybe even read his mind; that made so many things so much easier. "It's almost like having a guardian angel..." The Caster barely held back the impulse to hug his mentor, and turned brighter than a streetlamp instantly when realizing that Avery probably knew about that now- And...

...And then what could only be described as an oddity dropped like a bomb. In order to keep appearances, the apprentice stood still smiling, pretending he hadn't heard anything. He attempted to recap mentally, try to piece together some things- But that was too dangerous of a move around someone who could read your mind. The only thought that crossed the Caster's mind that he couldn't snuff out was beyond the threshold of oddity: hearing that Aridion was the one person that could handle Avery... It made Andrea crave for that control, for that position. Lust for it. Somehow, this feeling felt related to that that Aridion left off in his every mpve and word: so strangelt alluring, and so inexplicable.
But, of course, that flame flickered and died out in the blink of an eye.

"So... You and Re- Aridion. You go way back, huh? Just... Wanted to let you know that if I ever meet him again, my hands are off- Not... Touching anyone's man- Or- Former man."
The note made Andrea cringe internally and pulled a face; how would he know that the two had been a thing? Sure, this all had that feeling of broken relationship, but there was no real evidence suggesting it. The Caster made a mental note never to blurt out such idiocities ever again, and attempted to save some face by, once again, blurting out idiocities. "I mean!- Wait, I'm not sure what I mean. I'm just tired. God, ignore me. Please."

Steve

Steve nodded. "A wanderer. We get a lot of those. " He gestured towards the Centre. "Wanderers usually have the best stories. Greece was so beautiful back then." Taking a second, he realized how weird that statement could be. Clearing his throat, he added "I have met a couple telepaths who have shared with me." in explanation. "I already mentioned I grew up in a pod off the coast of Miami, we were mainly seahorse, shark and octopus, I think I was the only one with permanent legs. We were a strange bunch, but you would not believe humans reactions to me in the pod." He was beginning to settle again, and he couldn't resist teasing lightly, trying a line of Leo's. " So, as a phoenix you are pretty hot right? His tone made it clear he was going for a friendly joke, and he grinned.

Leo

Leo felt the spark again, but didn't let it distract him. I've got to talk to him at some point. \ If only to mention I can sense attraction. As much as he disliked telling anyone about his heritage, he couldn't help but feel bad keeping it hidden. He knew Ari was watching him, and made sure not to make any stupid mistakes- like accidently cut himself. Again. If his father wasn't a healer, he would have so many scars it wouldn't be funny.

When Ari returned with the sketch, Leo stood up, leaning over the paper and tracing the lines. "I can do this." Ari was better than he had expected. A good deal so. He accepted the sketchpad before going and getting a permanent marker. He started in the top corner, painstakingly transferring the design onto the wood. When he was finally satisfied, checking with Ari every couple seconds about the design, he started carving with his claws again. He wasn't sure how long after he had finished sketching the design on the wood, he turned to Ari, and grabbed his hand. "You want to try? Claws out and I'll help you follow the lines." He knew canine claws weren't as well suited to this, but he could help with some of the wider etchings.

Avery

Still berating himself, Avery tried to filter back the emotions his words had invoked. The... desire to control made him cringe back, feeling trapped in the small room. It was similar to Aridion's aura, with an shot of newness that didn't inspire confidence as Aridion's did. He... he didn't know how to react to that. Part of him wanted to challenge, to show he wouldn't let another person be able to control him. Another part of him was scared, wondering if he had misjudged why his apprentice wanted to learn from him.

Gathering himself, he felt his usual demeanor return as the slight aura disappeared, and he made himself smile as Andrea stumbled through his words, and he gave a flippant wave of the hand. "Yes, quite. Although, I haven't cared who Red sleeps with for almost two hundred years. I called him mine for quite a while, but we just... didn't stabilize as long-term partners." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, where he could almost feel the phantom prick of long fingernails. He couldn't look at Red without remembering how they met, and Aridion had never shaken the guilt.

With a sigh, Avery moved towards the door, wrapping a wing around Andrea. "Come on. You can rest in your room. It's barely seven thirty, but you should take some time to gather your thoughts."

The stabbing incident had been rather more recent, an accident-on-purpose deal when Avery had found Aridion getting... more than friendly with Leo. He acted like he was okay with it, but Aridion was rather skittish, because his empathic ability was telling him he should run, as were Avery's rust-red wings. But Avery suggested a family outing, and they went. Aridion left Rosa's diner with a nettle hex and a bleeding cut in his arm. All accidents, of course. Newbie witch, of course. No, Avery was aiming for the dart board, of course. They had been making bets on whether he could do it eyes closed, after all. Red hadn't been back to Denver since.

Strange things happen when you live for thousands of years.

Andrea

Strange things indeed. If only Andrea could've heard his mentor's thoughts... He would've ardently agreed, and even given examples. The oddities of history seemed to always circle the Caster, and he often teased himself that his birth had caused a terrible disruption in the fabric of fate. And humans were so prone to wars and conflicts, it was amusing; amusing enough to cause a young Caster to fight for the independence of a land that he was merely visiting when the revolution took action.

But that was a long time ago.

Though questioning why such thoughts were dug up from the endless abyss of his mind, Andrea was quick to swat them away and replace them with the actuality. A soft tune played in his mind, a duet of two wonderful voices and he snuggled close in the warm comfort of the wing wrapped around his much smaller body, feeling protected and with an unsure bliss of affection washing over him; but, again, unsure. Despite being very tactile, Avery didn't exactly come off as the affectionate type.
Andrea could only hope that would change in time.

The Caster had somehow managed not to cringe and pull faces as he heard about Aridion again; Sure, sure. Whatever. Fair enough. Interesting - but not enough to tap into curiosity. And he definitely wasn't touching that man ever again, for... Other reasons. Red didn't come off as clean, exactly.

Despite the awkward silence that had settled, Andrea decided that was prefferable to another even more awkward conversation. He was always deemed quiet, but that was only because he was so easily flustered; virtually everyone was better than himself in his eyes, even the so-called maidens of Seconcruise.

When eventually reaching his room, the apprentice was surprised to hear Ari and Leo chatting before it; furthermore, because they didn't appear to just be chatting. Swishing of claws carving into wood were more than unsettling; Andrea furrowed his eyebrows instinctively in a suspicious scowl, drawing himself closer to his mentor's protective aura, not intentive enough to ask what was going on.

~ARI~

He watched on in awe as stroke after stroke of the marker brought the scene to life. The flora blossomed over the door, gracing the wood with its soft beauty. Blinking in sheer astonishment at the work Leo was creating, sure he would never have the skills to convert a simple sketch into such a glorious design permanently set upon the wood. Into the wood. Carved tirelessly into it. Leo's claws once again returned, delicately scoring through the wood, chips flaking off and drifting to the ground.

It took a moment for the dhole-shifter to register Leo had stopped in his incredible work. Now, his tanned hand was outstretching Ari's own hand. A flush splashed across his complexion, painting it a faint rosy pink. Drawing in a comforting breath, he glanced away, trying to ignore the bursting sensation the simple contact brought. Damn, was this man trying to give him a heart attack? It wasn't fair that Ari was so affected.

Cutting off his thoughts, he met Leo's gaze levelly. "Okay, I can try," a chuckle slipped from his lips. "I'm not, uh, very good at controlled shifts, though." With an apologetic grimace, he willed his claws to grow from his fingertips. It was a tinging, slightly uncomfortable experience, and his lack of practise caused ears and and fluffy tail to also make their jovial appearances. A giggle next left him, a glance at his rear confirming he had indeed grown a tail. "Uh, you'll need to help me, I don't want to, uh, to mess up." with a look of concern, he scanned the door, mortified at the thought of ruining the artistry.

Nehema

A wanderer, huh... "Sounds about right, though I really don't know if I have any good stories," Nehema said, grinning a little sheepishly. While there were plenty of interesting things she had seen, it wasn't as if she had been terribly involved. Well, she supposed there had been a few incidents she was involved in. Like the war. But the phoenix didn't like to talk about that.

She didn't think twice about Steve' comment until he mentioned telepaths; there were plenty of records to show how amazing a culture and place it was, if no pictures to capturethe beauty. Those were an amazing innovation. If he had met telepaths who could share firsthand ancient greece... "Telepaths? I... I'd very muchh like to meet them if there are any here. I haven't met anyone from the time of ancient greece in a few decades at least, it'd be nice to at least talk to them," the redhead spoke eagerly, her wariness of strangers entirely dissapearing in its wake. It was so long ago, but some of her clearest memories were from that first life. To hear about something she knew would be refreshing.

Her lips turned upwards in a grin at the mention of his pod and others being surprised by him in to pod. "I imagine." The friendly flirtation took her by surprise though, and she blinked before a giggle escaped her lips. "I suppose some think so," Nehema replied almost coyly, her red hair dancing with flames for a moment. "Though most can't take the heat..." The flirtatious composure only lasted a moment before she broke into giggling again. It really wasn't her style; she felt silly doing it, even as a joke.
