Plotline

Many generations ago, the four packs lived in peace in the comforts of their established territories, before disaster struck. Slowly, more and more humans crept in to study them and visit their home, but with them they brought filth and fire. After a horribly dry season, the land burst into flames, driving the four packs away from home and far away from each other, where they all lived in isolation.

Now, almost 50 years later, the ancestors have spoken: it is time to return. The packs have returned to what their ancestors had originally inhabited for countless years, with the humans completely gone. The forest has regrown, but the relationships that the packs once had with each other...will tensions grow poor? Will they chase each other from their home? Or will all be as right as rain?

Ace // Noctis // Alpha // Location: Noctis Camp // Mentions: Open

It was dawn.

It had been three days since Noctis had settled in, the first of the four packs to arrive. Within two days time, it would be the New Moon, and the great meeting would be held under the rock-mound located within the center of the four territories. His warriors had worked hard, and he was extremely proud of them for that. Day in and day out, they had tirelessly established their borders and found the perfect hunting grounds for squirrel and deer, as well as a few cool streams as water sources.

Ace was incredibly anxious about meeting the other packs. Would they approve of him, as young and inexperienced as he was? Then again, what would they care- they hadn't known his pack in over 50 years. They'd never met his father, meaning that they were incapable of comparing him to the late Alpha.

With a heavy sigh, the gentle-natured male attempted to push the dark thoughts from his mind before creeping out of his den with a small yawn. Sunlight dappled his silver-flecked coat, and the few rays that managed to dodge the thick pine branches blinded his amber eyes. Well, at least it would be a pleasant morning!

Romulus | Lumen | Alpha | Location: Lumen Camp | Mentions: Open!

Romulus overlooked the flower-crowded meadow, watching the hustle and bustle of his pack, the first signs of daybreak tickling his fur. It had been hard at first, setting up camp. Not only had they arrived second to the Noctis pack, which was insult enough, but his own pack had found it difficult to navigate the vast expanse of the meadow at first, due to the sheer amount of plant life obstructing their view. But thanks to Romulus' excellence ( or in other words, it had made Romulus so angry that he had stomped through half the field), he had managed to create a more flattened area suitable for camp, and the rest of the pack had expanded upon the idea. Now that camp had been established, the pack had flourished under it's bountiful nature, catching hares and other mammals that lurked in the undergrowth.

Speaking of other mammals, Romulus thought to himself, it was soon that he'd have to meet at the rock-mound with the other packs. He wasn't concerned in the least, though - he was a strong, capable Alpha, a wolf whose presence simply oozed intimidation. Romulus saw the other packs as nothing more than a stepping stone, and he wasn't averse to fighting if things didn't go in his favour, regardless if the other Alphas thought him stupid for it. He didn't care what they thought about him, or his pack, for he knew in his heart that they were the best of the four.

Shaking himself out of his stupor, Romulus marched dutifully to the centre of camp, abandoning his sitting place on the outskirts. "Alright, no slacking," The Alpha snapped, "I thought I said I wanted a border patrol? Or do I need to remind someone of their responsibilities?" He padded over to his warriors, a curl on his lip. Though certainly a threatening sight, the Lumen pack could tell when Romulus was bluffing - though it still made a few of the more hesitant warriors stiffen up in panic. Romulus grumbled to himself, mercifully deciding that he wouldn't pound anyone into the dust just yet. "Do I have to do everything myself?" He muttered under his breath. It felt like it was going to be a long day.

Stark // Pagnia // Alpha Male // Location: Pagnia Forest // Mentions: Open

Stark stopped under the dappled shade of the maples and looked back. Nova was flagging, having fallen behind him a little while ago. He silently urged her forward.
The rest of the pack had been struggling, but the new sights and smells excited then and they bounded into forest, tails flicking in glee.
It was very different from the land of ice they had come from. There were stories in the pack, of course, of this land, but seeing it was a bit different.
It was claustrophobic, for one thing. Stark liked open air and chilled breezes, not humidity and trees.
But it was the best decision for their pack, and the others had already gone home.
Well, except for divum.
Nova caught up a moment later, panting heavily. Stark frowned worriedly and brushed her shoulder with his.
"You should rest," he murmured. She glared at him.
"Not a chance. We have to find a safe den site for the pack first."
Stark groaned internally.
"Please, nova, just for five minutes?"
Her glare softened a fraction. "Fine." She said. "Five minutes. "
She found a mossy tree too lean against, turning a few times in an attempt to get comfortable. She was asleep in seconds.
Stark almost laughed, but held it in. Instead, he wandered over near her and sat down, half lidding his eyes. It had been a long week, and he would have to meet with the other packs soon. He needed to sleep.
So he slept, guarding his mate from their uncertain future.

Besart | Lumen | Warrior | Location: Lumen Camp | Mentions: Romulus

Besart was doing his best to stay out of the way of the wolves setting up camp while slipping in to do a bit of heavy lifting here and there. He wasn't at all used to the way packs function and the fact that his sleep had been less than optimal the night before didn't help things. As we was placing a stack of assorted animal pelts onto the ground the sharp voice of the alpha behind him made him lose his balance, his back left leg buckling and causing him to fall forwards onto his face in the process.

"I can go with you if you're scared a rabbit might attack you." He responds as he regains his footing, a soft and joking tone to his voice. He brushes the dirt off of his muzzle with paw and chuckles lightly as he turns to greet the other wolf. He hadn't been here long but it was easy to read his new leader's personality, although calling him scared might be a bit of a mistake.

Eerin | Noctis | Beta | Location: Noctis Camp | Mentions: Ace

Eerin sat in the midst of camp, basking in the sunshine that leaked through the leaves above her. The air felt fresh and new, just like her surroundings. She was excited about the move and, although she had been skeptical at first, felt rather happy that it was finally over and went off without a hitch. The stories she had heard as a young pup had been true, this place was unimaginably beautiful.

Movement out of the corner of her vision caught her attention and she turns her dark eyes towards the den where her young alpha was emerging, "Good morning." She calls out, not moving from her position but shifting to face him with her body. He looked cheery this morning. Well.. as cheery as someone having to meet three strange packs in two days time could look.

β†ž { Scorch } β†
Female β€’ 4 Years Old β€’ Noctis Scout
Location: Noctis Camp β€’ Mentions: Ace, Eerin

Dark claws hovered above the stream, blunt tips occasionally sinking beneath the surface before pulling out again. Scorch watched cold droplets drip from her cracked nails to rejoin the swirling current with barely veiled boredom, eyes half-lidded. Turning her paw slightly, the tawny and rust she-wolf examined her scarred pad. Trauma induced, utterly terrifying at the time. Now it was just a memory that evoked little emotion.

This new land was bountiful and beautiful, it was difficult to believe the forest was once little more than soot and ash, burned and lost to man's negligence. She knew the marks of destruction well. Only hints of it lingered here, barely noticeable to the others. Indeed, it was these scarce, but still present scars that told Scorch the trees and earth had known fire. "This place will be a good home for us," she concluded, watching fish glide beneath the water's surface thoughtfully. "So long as the packs don't tear one another apart. That would be most unfortunate."

Lifting to her paws, Scorch followed the path leading back to camp, yellow gaze settling on the only two wolves currently out and about. The first the young wolf she now called alpha, Axe? The other the beta whose name she could not recall at all. "Lovely morning, is it not?" She inquired of the pair before padding past them, settling below the shade of an overhanging tree seconds later.

β†ž { Tarkik } β†
Masc NB β€’ 2 Years Old β€’ Lumen Healer
Location: Lumen Camp β€’ Mentions: Romulus (Indirectly)

Tarkik could hardly smell anything through the pungent scent currently wreathing around him, wafting from the thick wad of plants gingerly carried between his jaws. Although the delicate purple flowers carried a strong aroma, it wasn't at all an unpleasant one, and the young wolf's spirits were high as he followed the trail back to camp. Using herbs for healing hadn't been a common practice among his former pack, it was quite a unique method, and Tarkik was eager to learn more. A stranger on his travels once informed him this particular plant, lavender he believed, was good for bringing down a fever. It would be interesting to see if that bit of information proved correct.

As he entered the camp, however, he could feel the tension almost immediately. The other wolves might be able to see through their alpha's demanding display, but Tarkik's ears folded back nervously and he left a wide berth between himself and Romulus as he confronted the warriors, slinking toward the bush he kept his herb stash in, setting the lavander delicately into a section of empty space. He would need to survey the rest of the meadow and surrounding unclaimed territory to see what type of plants grew here. The remainder of his stock from the journey was dangerously low and he desperately needed to replenish. It was imperative he had the proper herbs at his disposal should the new moon meeting end in disaster.

Tahnjo||Noctis||Commander||Location: Noctis Camp||Mentions: Ace, Eerin
(Just now saw how similar my post is to Scorch's, my apologies)
Tahnjo walked back into camp, dropping a few squirrels, sloppy and hastily killed by the entry way as he went, nodding to the others. "Alpha, Beta" he was unsure how long he'd been out for, but he hoped it wasn't too long, in his mind, it was efficient at least...

It was still fairly dark when Tahnjo awoke, he wasn't sure when the sun would be up, but he felt a little energized, and wanted to take advantage of the rare feeling. Stretching out his legs until he heard a satisfactory pop, and silently made his way out of the camp. The night was cooler, but there was no breeze, which was odd in his mind, but more likely than not, he just wasn't paying attention to the weather in the day. His composure slipped for a moment, as the unfamiliar silence of the forest got to him, but he quickly got back in check. His body felt ready to move and run, but his mind was still caught back in camp, sleeping, he needed to give it some time to catch up.

Mindlessly sniffing along the bases of trees and stopping to sneeze out the occasional bits and pieces of dirt, he dug up a few squirrel stashes. Most of it was rather useless to him but here and there he'd find a seed or nut to crack open and eat, and even the rare berry. He had no particular liking for any form of plant or plant matter, berries were ok but not great either, but it was easy to find them. Normally, this would be a second nature to him, but he was thinking of sleep instead and now it was beginning to grow lighter. He'd hunt a bit more before returning, using up that energized feeling, while helping the pack. These late night adventures weren't uncommon for him, but generally he lacked to return with anything. He picked off a few early rising squirrels, making a mess of the woods in the process, but was soon feeling 'normal' again, so it was time to go home. He wanted to be careful of not over hunting anyways, sure it had been generations since the fires he had heard about since birth, but he still carried his skepticism of just how well everything was now.

Romulus | Lumen | Alpha | Location: Lumen Camp | Mentions: Besart

Romulus watched the male topple over, kicking up stray petals and pollen as he fell to the ground. He was by no means a small wolf, making his clumsiness all the more irksome to Romulus - he simply reeked of lost potential. "Why should I take you? You can't even stand on your own four paws," He hissed, "Besides, I doubt you could even manage to seize a field mouse, let alone a rabbit; the only thing I'd expect you to catch is my bite, if you keep pestering me with your insolence." The Alpha huffed, fixing his stony gaze on the warrior. Recognisable, if only for the fact that the male was one of the most recent additions to his pack. He appeared a comedian by nature, though Romulus didn't find jokes at his own expense all that funny. "Do you think it's clever to jest about me like that?" Romulus questioned threateningly, tilting his head slightly. The Alpha intended to test the warrior's resolve, to see if he'd stand by his point, or crumble under the gaze of his leader.

Luka slept in until the sound of voices outside caused him to blink open his green eyes, blinking slowly and opening his long snout for a yawn. He grumbled, stretching his back legs and sneezing as he slowly woke up, wanting to sleep further but knowing he should likely be productive.
The he-wolf wandered out of the warrior's den, catching his alpha, commander, and healer outside. He tail wagged a bit and he was excited to explore more of this new territory.
"Good morning, everyone," he greeted, raising his dark muzzle to sniff the morning air.

Nova // Pagnia // Alpha Female // Location: Pagnia Forest // Mentions: Open

Nova woke hours later as the sun was painting the sky red, instantly irritated. She glared at stark, who loomed over her, grinning.
"Why did you let me sleep?" She said accusingly. "I told you five minutes!"
He shrugged, pushing his forehead into hers. "You needed to sleep. Besides, we weren't entirely unproductive. Come look."
Nova heaved herself to her feet, grumbling. She followed her mate deeper into the forest until they reached a dip in the land, swallowed by interlocking maples.
"What is this place?" She asked curiously. She could smell the pack inside, safe behind a dome of foliage. Stark nudged her shoulder, urging her forward.
"Just come look."
He led her down the rise into the dip, through an entrance marbled with rotting leaves and hidden behind a briar patch. "We'all be safe here," stark murmured as they entered the enclosed clearing. "Our pups will be safe."
And it seemed they would. Stone outcroppings jutted into the air, half buried in leaves. An old upturned maple, flyaway roots scattered, created a shelter where the pack had dug a den.
Several dens, in fact, most occupied by the exhausted pack. One of the other denmothers stood up when she saw nova and bounded over.
"Hi!" She helped, plastering herself to novas side. "We made you a den!"
Nova smiled. "Thanks, raltai. I'm sorry I slept all afternoon."
The younger she wolf grinned. "No need! We wouldn't have let you help anyway. "
She vanished as quickly as she had come, the other pack members merely dipping their heads in a much more sedate aglowledgement of her status.
Stark nodded back, ushering Nova over to the root den. She went inside, please don't to find that she was able to turn around easily. Stark didn't fit-he wasn't supposed to- but he stuck his head in and grinned.
"Do you like it?"
Nova smiled. "I love it. We will be safe here, even if the moons meeting doesn't go as planned."
As she suspected it would.

Ace // Noctis // Alpha // Location: Noctis Camp // Mentions: Eerin, Scorch, Tahnjo, Luka

"Good morning," his ears immediately angled in the direction of the voice, and his rapidly-blinking amber pools were torn away from the canopy to seek his greeter. Sunspots splattered across his vision, making sight temporarily difficult until the dark spots began to slowly vanish. At last, the Alpha could make out the finest of shadows defining a figure basking in the sunlight, and the male finally put a face to the name. It was his Beta, Eerin! Parting his jaws to give her a merry response, he was a cut off by the approach of another before he could force out the words.

The scent of the newcomer to the conversation could not be denied, she was bathed in the faintest hints of smoke. Scorch- it was easy to put a name to that one. The Scout's mention of destruction so early in the morning caused the heavy weight of grimness to settle in Ace's chest, but he dismissed it immediately. "I think a little more optimism is in order this morning, no?" He forced a small smile, giving Eerin a quick nod of acknowledgement to not seem rude before returning his attention to Scorch. "But the morning is perfect, indeed."

With the sun spots in his vision almost completely gone, distant movement caught his eye. It was his Commander, already carrying in a few kills. "Tahnjo!" He called to the other male with an edge of shock ringing in his tone of voice. Great ancestors- everyone was already up and running! Had Ace fallen behind this morning? Was his biological clock still adjusted to time in their old home? "I'm surprised to see you up this early, you've had quite a few late nights with all the border patrols."

Luka appeared to be the first of the warriors to wake, a good sign for Ace, to say the least. Hopefully he wasn't late t to the start of the day. "Morning, Luka." He returned the greeting before glimpsing over at his Scout, Scorch. He had a few questions for her, in regards to the hunting grounds.

"Scorch, how's the outlook of prey around here?" He was inexperienced as Alpha, and figured that a good check on their supplies was a perfect place to start. As a steadily growing pack, it was important that Noctis had a readily available food supply.

Remus // Lumen // Warrior // Location: Lumen Camp // Mentions: Romulus, Besart, Open

The rusty male had a late start to his morning, but considering that he didn't want to be the only one awake with Romulus, he'd say that oversleeping was no mistake. He hung around the border of the camp, where the flower line was evident and a wonderful place to hide from prying eyes. As the Alpha's voice rose in anger, a sensation of overwhelming anxiety washed over the defeated warrior, and he was jolted from his position in fear of yet another beating from his temperamental sibling. However, fortunately for Remus, his call was answered by another warrior before his brother could spot him slacking off at the edge of Lumen's camp.

It was Besart, a wolf he was yet to interact with much. Well, no need to worry about that- if he proceeded to pull Romulus' chain any longer, Remus was certain that his fellow warrior wouldn't live to see the end of the patrol. The male allowed himself to sink down into the flowers once more, praying to his ancestors that he could go unnoticed.

Stark // Pagnia // Alpha Female // Location: Pagnia Forest // Mentions: Open

The moon meeting was drawing closer, and the divum pack had not arrived. Stark began to grow worried, even as Nova grew more lethargic by the day. At this rate she would be unable to go to the meeting with him. And with no diplomatic moderator- stark shuddered at the implications.
Their peaceful return could quickly become bloody.
He looked over at nova, who was sleeping half in and half out of her den. Some of the pack was out on a hunt- stark had wanted to come, but had decided against it. Nova couldn't defend herself, and the denmothers would be no help in case of attack.
Not knowing the location of the Divum pack made him nervous.

Doratu | Divum | Alpha Male | Location: Divum River | Mentions: Open

Doratu jogged into the large area. He'd had his warriors clear the reeds from a large patch in a willow grove. There was a nice space in between the willow roots where the pups they'd brought would sleep. He scraped his claws in annoyace. He'd already sent his quickest and smallest to find the other packs. He knew where they were; they didn't know where he was. A pang struck him as he thought of his brother, sitting in his grave under the willow back home. No, this place was home now. Doratu sighed, before sliding out of the camp to find the other packs. He'd go to Lumen first; They were closest.

Stark // Pagnia // Alpha Female // Location: Pagnia Forest // Mentions: Doratu, Open

An hour or two later stark smelled the hunt returning, but they had someone else with them. His hackles raised in fear and he stood, awaiting their arrival warily.
The scents retreated and slowed, stationary a little ways away. Stark felt a wave of gratitude wash over him for his pack. They knew he didn't want strangers knowing where their camp was.
Stark gestured for those remaining in the camp to watch nova, then stalked out the entrance. He followed his nose to find his pack, finding them in a small clearing, the carcass of a stag beside them.
One of the Hunters, a burly wolf the colour of dead heather, slink up to the alpha, ears pinned back nervously.
"Stark," he said slowly, "we found a wolf from the Divum pack."
Stark was immediately relieved, even though the news brought up new worries. At least all the packs were here now.
"You did well not bringing her to our den," he murmured, then looked at the messenger. It was a petite wolf, slim and lean. She was panting, skinny sides heaving.
"Do you come with a message?" Stark asked. The wolf nodded, catching her breath.
"I ... do." She straightened, tongue lolling. "Doratu, alpha of Divum, has arrived in the forest. He will be present at the moon meeting."
Stark agnowledged the message with a nod. "Good," he said, then flicked his tail in dismissal. The messenger looked crestfallen that she had not been given a place to rest, but stark was taking no chances. Nothing would touch his mate, and nothing would have the chance to.
The messenger turned and left, and stark helped the hunt drag the carcass into the den.

Doratu could smell the Lumen border. He began to jog into their territory, following the strongest scents. When he stopped, he was outside the camp and he sat, waiting for someone to exit the camp and see or smell him.
