Romulus snorted, momentarily satisfied with the response, breaking the heavy tension that threatened to spill into something dangerous. Though Besart hadn't challenged him any further, he didn't cower away like the majority of his pack did when confronted; he knew his place in the pack, yet was not afraid of the Alpha's display, and it made Romulus even more intrigued to see if he could crack the lower male's placid demeanour. "Fine, I'll make an exception this once, since I've hunted alongside worse than the likes of you," Romulus decided, his attention suddenly snapping onto a figure previously concealed amongst the flowers, "Isn't that right, Remus?" The male lunged forwards, grabbing Remus by the scruff of the neck, doing no real damage, other than pulling him a bit too forcefully into the open. The Alpha released him with a huff, towering over his brother with a smug smile. Despite not spotting Remus himself, Besart's brief glance had alerted him of the male's pitiful presence. "How about you come with us, too, since you're so intent on lazing about," Romulus proposed, a poisonous tone lacing his voice, "Maybe then you'll actually be of use to the pack for once." The Alpha watched Remus intently, turning up his nose, before glancing back to Besart. "Let's go, though don't be disheartened if you don't catch anything," Romulus snarked, in what could be considered an almost friendly tone, "And stay outta my way, Remus - you're so clumsy that even the rabbits laugh when they see you coming." He turned away from the both of them, quietly thinking of the best hunting spot to take them.

The humid day air beat down against the coat of the Lumen Beta, making the work of building the camp all the more exhausting. They had a wide expanse of level earth to work with, and already they were carving out their new home in the meadow. Bracken was standing atop a large flat sheet of rock, giving out instructions on where to put what. The pack was working hard, and within the time of only the first day, they had made it pretty far. Not long would they all be attending the gathering, and Bracken would prefer the camp be complete before than. It would be a proud moment to announce to the other packs Lumen was settled, and already working towards building up their food stock.

Though he’d leave the tail chasing to the Alphas. He knew well enough how they liked to compare victories, his own at least. Bracken would instead concern himself with the other wolves attending the rock-mound. Like himself, not many others would enjoy the thought of sharing territory with three stranger packs. Maybe not always, but after many generations apart, strangers to each other now. Surely there would be some tensions between them all, he’d just have to wait and see if someone will snap. He’ll be there to combat it if that certain someone decided to snap in the direction of his own pack.

Scorch's head tilted, surprised by Ace's lack of enthusiasm with her choice of words. "Was that not optimistic?" She listened in silent observance as he addressed their gathering packmates, more and more wolves rising from their nests, or in Tahnjo's case, returning with prey in his jaws. Her eyes glittered with approval. "You've done quite well." Ace inquiring after how the prey was running, however, soon brought her to another line of thought. "It will do. There are many species we can hunt here, but I haven't had enough time to evaluate them all just yet. As a whole prey seems plentiful, but until I can get a feel for each animal's current population we should proceed with caution."

She paused for a moment, taking note of what Tahnjo brought back with him. "This place is wonderful, that is true, but we mustn't allow ourselves to become gluttonous. I will have a better idea within the next few days. In the meantime, all hunts should be planned and coordinated, with a record kept for every piece of prey caught to ascertain we aren't overhunting. It would be a shame to claim this land and be run out by our own greed." Scorch had seen as much happen before, the nomadic lifestyle she led after the burning of her old home bringing her to many packs before this one. "I do hope the other packs are considering this as well. I will speak to their scouts at the great meeting," she muttered, more to herself than anyone else. "They will see reason. I will make them listen."

A shrill cry reached his ears as Tarkik tucked the last of the lavender gingerly into place, yanking his head from the hollowed-out space within the bush in a rush, thorns and tiny scraps of leaf catching in his neck fur. Tarkik whirled toward the sound, amber eyes wide with alarm and dismay as he watched Romulus seize Remus by the scruff and toss him to the ground until Remus lay sprawled at his paws. Shock and disgust pulsed through Tarkik like a wildfire. Weren't they kin? How could Romulus treat his own brother that way?

The young healer tossed caution to the wind, his outrage overpowering his sense of self-preservation, and made his way toward the trio with haste, his gaze severe once it settled on Romulus. "If I may make a suggestion, your warriors might perform better and with more enthusiasm if you were to encourage and support them. Bullying won't help them hunt any better," he huffed critically, eyes studying Remus with concern. He didn't seem any worse for wear, possibly a bit bruised, both physically and pride-wise. "We may have enough troubles ahead of us without you brutalizing and humiliating your own followers."
