Plotline

Many generations ago, the four packs lived in peace in the comforts of their established territories, before disaster struck. Slowly, more and more humans crept in to study them and visit their home, but with them they brought filth and fire. After a horribly dry season, the land burst into flames, driving the four packs away from home and far away from each other, where they all lived in isolation.

Now, almost 50 years later, the ancestors have spoken: it is time to return. The packs have returned to what their ancestors had originally inhabited for countless years, with the humans completely gone. The forest has regrown, but the relationships that the packs once had with each other...will tensions grow poor? Will they chase each other from their home? Or will all be as right as rain?

Soul / Lumen Warrior / Location: Lumen territory

The white male had stayed in the den entrance, staring lazily as the alpha got caught up in a fight with the other wolves. He stood as they left, glancing over at the healer and betta before the healer darted off, obviously upset. Soul paused, his orange gaze softening. The alpha was unnecessarily rough but this wasn't new, not even slightly. The brothers had long been troubled. He sighed and trotted off after the wolf, his soft heart bound to get him in trouble one day.

"Don't let this trouble you too bad, Tarkik," he responded to his packmates existential question.

"The alpha is harsh, but he is not a brute most times. He has love for the pack, as hidden as it may seem. Your leaving would tear us apart in these new times," he hummed, sitting down next to the other canine. He flicked one of his large ears, feeling a soft wind blow through his white fur.

Icicle/ loner /location: edge of the forest/mentions open

Rain sluiced down icicles sides advice she careened towards the dry forest, the edge of the rain betrayed by a bright slice of sunlight.
She was hoping for a home here, but not with companions. All she wanted to do was forget.

Name: Faith - Rank: Loner (Wants to be part of a pack, Lumen maybe?) - Family: Dawn - Location: moving towards Lumen Pack Territory - Tags: Dawn, Soul (Indirectly), Tarkik (Indirectly), Bracken (Indirectly), Besart (Indirectly), Romulus (Indirectly), Remus (Indirectly)

Pushing Dawn ahead of her she hurried away from the Bush and tree hollow that they'd been before picking Dawn up by the scruff and taking off at a run. Not realizing how far she'd gone she saw and heard a fight between two wolves, a group off to the side, she tilted her head before hiding Dawn again. She moved closer slowly, watching the fight, her brown eyes following the two fighters.

Nova / Noctis Warrior/ Noctis Camp
Nova slept on a rock. Her tail peacefully shifted with the breeze. She was very calm and content, until a chirping bird woke her up.

Primrose | Noctis Healer | Location: Noctis territory | Mentions: Eerin, open

Primrose tilted her head, eyes slightly narrowed as Eerin moved onward. She wasn't very keen on wolves having a carefree approach to their health. It also felt weird having someone... talk back to her; most wolves took what she said at face value. Maybe she really did need to be more social. "Cnidium and usnea are great for infections... and birthing," Rose grabbed a mouthful of moss with the tip of her teeth, not faciyg getting plants stuck on her canines, "I'm hoping we can see more of those now that we have a permanent home," tough muffled, her tone was more holpeful than before. It had been moons since they'd seen a full pup litter, a travelling pack not the most suitable condition. Primrose dropped her share of vegetation at the tree trunk, feeling the cold breeze carried trough the stream graze her pelt and spike the fur along her back; a pleasant but faint smell of rain lingering in the distance. Without much hurry in her step, Rose snatched another clump of moss, this time from a taller spot, in hopes of finding a loose enough tree bark.

Bracken
Lumen Beta | Male | 5.5
Location: Lumen Camp | Mentions: Tarkik [Indirectly]

Before he could say anything else, Tarkik was running off into the meadow again. He didn’t mind it, content with letting the young healer pout. Occupying his thoughts now, after that silly discussion about the relationship between Romulus and his brother, was the Divum Alpha waltzing into camp as if he owned the place. Bracken settled on his haunches, face pulled into a unpleasant stare. Already his patience with the other packs was wearing thin. The gathering would be soon, and he trusted Romulus to establish dominance over the other packs, though not completely. Their alpha’s way of doing things didn't always trigger the correct reaction, it might in fact cause retaliation.

He let a breath fall from his lips, thinking deeply on it. It wouldn’t be in Lumen’s best interest to have enemies this early on. Not exactly friends either, more so, another set of eyes looking out for things Lumen was perhaps blind too. He’d try, the best he could, to build the grounds for this. Making a good impression on the stranger wolves. Until eventually, they’d come to trust the beta, and his pack. This of course, is easier said than done.

Ace // Noctis Alpha // Location: Unspecified Border // Mentions: Scorch (briefly), Luka (briefly), Open

His grin reached from ear to ear when Scorch invited him for a survey later on in the day, and he nodded his head eagerly before dismissing the pair with a small flick of his obsidian tail. It was work- who the hell would be excited for that? None other than Noctis' alpha, of course. It wasn't so much that he was eager to go out surveying and counting prey (frankly, there was a good chance he'd get distracted and pick a bouquet of flowers for Scorch and screech "LOOK!" on the top of his lungs at the little caterpillar on them), but it was the fact that his scout invited him that made him so chipper about the idea.

He was the last of three brothers, and frankly, he was never the most popular among them. His older brothers were the favorites of his father, dutiful and focused, while Ace...yes, Ace was a mommy's boy, the sunshine in her clouds, the pep in her step. He shadowed the alpha female regularly, always at her heels and doing the dumbest things in an attempt to impress her. He missed the affection in her eyes and the sweetness in her voice, and how her praise always warmed him from nose to tail tip. She was the best mom a pup could ever ask for. However, nonetheless, he was always in the shadows of his brothers. They were first to be picked for all the games, always invited on patrols with the cool warriors, and forever the favorites of their father, the previous alpha male.

No! Stop the pessimism! As Scorch and Luka left, Ace stubbornly pushed the dark thoughts from his mind, but like always, the demons returned. Whining to himself with the softest of noises, he turned away to find something to distract himself with. Healer was dealing with the herbs, Scorch and Luka were getting the moss...hmmm...what could he do in camp to make himself useful?

Sitka // Outsider // Location: Unspecified Border // Mentions: Rovaana, Open

She seemed to have an interesting bit of...spice to her. However, the pale wolf couldn't help but to agree with her acquaintance fullheartedly or, that was, relate to her. "Sitka." She responded swiftly with that friendly gleam remaining in her eyes. She, too, had been infected with wanderlust, plus a little bit to eagerness to prove her packmates wrong. Placid, they had called her. Too boring, too agreeable with the ways of the pack, always delivering whatever the alpha had wanted...

"I'm kinda in the same boat, I suppose." She offered a small shrug of her lean shoulders, hoping that Rovaana wouldn't mind having her ears talked off. She was phenomenal at that. "My pack, it's one of the ones who've moved here just a few days ago. Except, I used to be their beta about a year ago, I left because I wanted to ...prove them wrong. I'm not very pleased to hear that the wolves I tried to escape have ironically followed me here."

Remus // Lumen Warrior // Location: Burrows // Mentions: Romulus, Besart

As his brother desperately tried to crack a joke, the raggedy wolf, with his narrowed eyes focused on none other than the horizon, twitched an ear in Romulus' direction. Hmph. Considering the threats that've been thrown around, I couldn't agree more. He kept his jaws firmly shut, to prevent his tongue from betraying his mind. If he dared to say those words out loud, it'd be another beating for him. Remus doubted that Romulus would take the concept of mutiny well, especially if it was mentioned by him. To add to the matter, Remus was in no such state to attempt anything like that. His low ranking among even the warriors left him with scraps for dinner, and it didn't help having a scrawny build as-was.

He stopped promptly at the edge of the burrows, listening intently to his alpha and fellow warrior as they discussed their strategy. While the red's gaze drifted across the vast plains, his attention did not leave the discussion. Collapsing the burrows, especially when the wolves had only recently arrived and had no real idea of what their food supply was like, wasn't a good idea. A low grunt underneath his breath was Remus' response, an agreement with Besart's idea. Albeit pitifully twig-like, the leggy brother could keep up with a rabbit, no sweat. He was swift and his stamina was impressive, even if he was as uncoordinated as an awkward adolescent.

Kuda growled softly, flicking her tail. She kept her eyes narrow, watching the camp entrance for Romulus and his group. As she waited, she nibbled her claws and gnawed on a old, chewy bone. She licked her lips as she got to her paws, grumbling something about the new territory being so sunny, and went to flop under the lip of her den.

Icicle/ Loner / Location: The Edge of the Forest / mentions: open

Icicle stepped under the dark trees, their gloom swallowing her pale form like a wraith. There were scents from all sides- spicy, warm, fresh and stale. There was one-
Icicles frayed memory churned, tossing a waterlogged memory to the surface.
Blood between her claws and another wolfs body in her jaws.
Icicle shuddered.
This wasn't good, but she couldn't leave now.

Stark/ Alpha male / Location: Pagnia forest/camp / mentions: open

Stark pushed through the underbrush, carrying the carcass of a hare. It was much easier to catch than the jumpy squirrels, and it almost reminded him of home.
The place that had been his home for his whole life, that is. This wasn't his home, not yet, though it had the potential to be one.
He reached the entrance to the camp and paused, feeling a couple drops of water land on his head.
Huh. Sun shower.
He shrugged it off and entered the camp, struggling to adjust.

Peter|Divum Commander|Neutral Area/Creek|Open

It was quiet and out of the way, not riddled with the scent of pack, or really anyone for that matter except maybe a few small creatures here and there. As long as it didn't smell of bear or mountain lion, Peter wasn't bothered. A few wolves he could handle on his own, especially if they really misjudged him by his age. He may be old, but he was not weak.

Of course that didn't stop his bones from aching every now and again. A dip in a low, slow moving creek was just what he needed. It helped cool him down and it helped with the aches. The old wolf let out a sigh of content, happy to have found a little slice of heaven.

Rovanna / Outsider / She-Wolf / 3 Years / Location: Unspecified Border / Mentions: Sitka, Open

The tawny she-wolf tilted her head slightly at Sitka's words. Unlike the ex-beta, Rovanna hadn't left her home as the result of ridicule or out of want to prove others wrong. She had simply decided she had wanted to know what lies beyond, she had felt it. The fire underneath her paws and the pull of the unknown, beckoning her to follow, and she was helpless to resist.

"Well, love," she bent down slightly to scratch at her ear, "sounds like life's enjoying throwing you all sorts of curve balls, huh? But it's gotta be nice in some way too, no? I mean, there's no one you'd never wanna see again?" She closed her eyes in satisfaction as she found the spot that was irritating her. Rovanna had never once regretted her decision to leave, but she would be lying if she said she didn't miss certain characters from her old life. Friends, family, rivals, all left behind. It didn't sound to bad, to her at least, to be able to see them again.

Eerin | Noctis | Beta | Location: Noctis Territory | Mentions: Primrose, Ace (Indirectly), Scorch (Indirectly)

"Perhaps." She winces at the jarring noise her claws make against the tree as she carefully strips it of the moss growing along it's bark. "It would be nice to hear the chattering of pups again, though that will also mean more mouths to feed." The fluffy plant muffles her reply as she sets it delicately onto the earth, her voice trailing off as she gets lost in thought. She would have to speak to Scorch and Ace back at camp about the pack's prey predicament later, though she had faith in their young leader's abilities unlike many of the other wolves around camp. Eerin saw nothing wrong with learning on the job, she had been quite young herself when she took on the role of Beta.

She lifts the upper half of her body into the air and balances on her back legs, snagging a low-hanging lichen with her teeth and pulling it free of the branch it was clinging to. The soft, sparse patter of rain on the leaves above brings her back to her senses and she tilts her head curiously. Odd. She hadn't caught a whiff of rain on the breeze this morning, though everyone had been busy and it was an easy thing to overlook. The trees would shield them from the rain for now and they could continue about their business as long as they hurried.

Uda | Divum | Warrior | Location: Divum Territory | Mentions: Open

The low hanging leaves of the willow tree Uda was resting under swayed in the breeze, catching her ears and causing her to shake her head in protest. This morning had been quite a relaxing one without the presence of their alpha, as he had gone to socialize with one of their neighbouring packs and she hadn't spotted any of her fellow pack members as of yet. Though that didn't bother her much, she had been content with lazing about in the heat of the morning until now. She stands up, legs groaning in protest as she stretches the feeling back into them and begins strolling back towards Divum's base camp.

Sitka // Outsider // Location: Unspecified Border // Mentions: Rovaana, Open

"I mean, there's no one you'd never wanna see again?" Her words brought up stirrings, like debris on the bottom of a lake after it was disturbed by sudden movement, and Sitka tried to make them settle: secrets, lies, betrayal. No, she left to move on, to mold herself into something greater than what her former packmates saw her as. There was no going back now, no running back to him like a cowardly pup. She almost feared reuniting with him, even, with how rocky their terms were when they parted. Was it her fault?

Yes.

She swallowed to force back the emotions and memories, stepping into a self-empowered and adventurous life style. They would no longer see her as a follower, as a shadow. She had a mind of her own, feelings even, and she wanted exploration in her life! She wasn't boring! "No, there isn't anybody...special that I left behind." She lied in the process of forcing a smile, raising her chin in the process. Sitka decided to turn the tables in her favor by reversing the situation and forcing the attention off of her self. "What about you? Any family back at home?"

Sarge // Divum Beta // Location: Divum's Camp // Mentions: Open

The time was soon, he could feel it deep within his bones.

The ex-Noctis-alpha laid at the edge of camp, stretching his neck and enjoying the burn of tensed muscles. He had healed up nicely since his unfortunate accident that left him away from his pack and son, prepared to make his return during the great meeting. He was uncertain about the fate of Ace, in fact, he half-expected his son to be dead, torn apart by his packmates after making some sort of foolish decision. He could only hope that the idiot was still alive, even if he was dethroned, so that Sarge might correct all of his wrongs. It'll be safer for that boy this way. He's not fit for alpha- assuming Noctis even made it this far under his command. Yes, Ace had made him proud over the recent years, but was he prepared for such responsibility?

Far from it. Even if he was an adult by age, his was still a pup at heart, and Sarge expected him to behave as such for moons to come, at least until his father could knock sense into that thick skull of his. He doesn't deserve to be placed in such a position. It's very unfortunate, what happened with his brothers... The male stared at his paws thoughtfully before lowering his head to bite at the spacing in between his toes, therefore satisfying an obnoxious itch. ...But if I have to throw Ace out of the alpha position, then so be it. Noctis was my home, and therefore my responsibility. I can't have my impulsive son running them into the ground because of his inexperience. They don't deserve that.

Peter|Divum Commander|Divum Camp|Open

Body soothed of all troubles, the old wolf made his way back towards his little pack's camp. As far as he knew, and Peter knew a goodnbit from gossiping little birds who would do anything for some nice soft wolf fur to line their nest with, that the Divum Pack was currently the second or third smallest out of the four main ones. Not the best, but they had some strong and eager young bloods on their side and they had an ex-alpha in the mix as well.

Numbers don't always matter when the wolves you do have are strong, capable, and smart. Or course, the pack only goes so far as their leaders and teachers are willing to take them and Peter was more than happy to take them far and wide and increase their numbers by at least 35% by next year. But... it seemed slightly unlikely at this moment.

"Ugh, I'm far too old and beautiful to be this stressed out~ it feels like I'm shedding out my winter coat for the millionth time this week!"

Rovanna / Outsider / She-Wolf / 3 Years / Location: Unspecified Border / Mentions: Sitka, Open

"Hmm?" Rovanna kept scratching for a time before slowly dropping her leg back down and sitting straight again. "I suppose I wouldn't mind seeing Mom and Pops again." She let out a yawn. "Or perhaps Jinco, he's an ass, but he was a good friend." Rovanna squinted at Sitka some a look of clear... distrust for her statement shinning her eyes, "And you miss no one? Come now... that can't be true." Her ear tip flicked some at a fly that had come to bother the pair of them.

Pa'ar / Beta Male of Paginia / 3.6 Years / Location: Paginia Camp, HEADING TO: Unspecified Location/ Mentions: Open

Pa'ar sat in the shade of a bush, simply watching the pack bustle around as they explored this new home. His eyes, while not quite glaring but definetly far from friendly, swiveled around the camp. He had smelled it once. But he was sure it was simply his mind playing a cruel trick on him. She had left. She was gone. There was no more room for being complacent. Not anymore. No, there was business to attend to.

The large black wolf left, moving like a shadow out and away from the camp. Business to attend to... people to endanger, people to save, people to slander, people to make into heroes. Much to do indeed. But where should he start?
