-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses
Posted on 2024-08-05 08:57:00
We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered.

We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.

New Features Being Implemented

We have some features that will be added regardless of feedback within a future update:

New Features We May Implement

* Adjusting the raffle lioness system so that only players who have been active in the last two days (so Wednesdays onward) will have a chance to win when the raffle lioness is pulled
* Sending an email notification to the player who won the weekly raffle lioness

New Features We're Considering/Discussing

These are features we have had ideas for, or have found in the Game Development forums, and would like to see which of the following would be most preferred.

** 1. Storing raffle lioness designs and releasing them slowly through explore.
Essentially, this would mean creating multiple copies of the same raffle lioness to be slow-dripped into the game through the claiming system. They would work as chased lionesses, so only kings with Average impression or higher could find them. This would likely come with a failsafe so that if the lioness fails to be claimed, she goes back into the chased pool so another player has a chance to claim her. All raffle lionesses are made with the Nurturing (Good) personality, so raffle lionesses released through the claiming system would display the Good pose.

The first week, Raffle Lioness 1 is pulled and sent to the winner, and Raffle Lioness 2 is put up to be impressed. The second week, Raffle Lioness 2 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 3 is put up to be impressed, and a clone of Raffle Lioness 1 is put into the chased lioness pool in explore. The third week, Raffle Lioness 3 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 4 is put up to be impressed, and clones of Raffle Lionesses 1 and 2 are put into the chased pool in explore. This repeats up to a maximum of 9 clones, making for 10 total lionesses with the same design.

A graph to show the overall release schedule for raffle lionesses through explore.

** 2. Releasing an identical replica raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness.
The stud would have the exact same traits as the raffle lioness, but rather than being delivered to a winner's territory, a select amount of players (between 20-50) would win the ability to breed with him. This would work similarly to August's event studs in that items could not be used on the stud for breeding. We also considered, if implementing replica studs, to allow all players to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but lock weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.

** 3. Implementing raffle studs in general.
An alternative to releasing an identical replica raffle stud would be releasing a raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness who may share similar traits, e.g. if a raffle lioness is releasing a brand new eye colour, the raffle stud that week would have that eye colour as well, or if she is releasing a brand new raffle marking, the raffle stud that week would have that marking as well (either in the same slot, or a different slot). Breedings to this stud would also be limited to 20-50 players weekly, and items would not be allowed. This would also come with all players being able to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but locking weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.

** 4. Releasing more than one raffle lioness per week.
This would either be multiple identical copies of the same raffle lioness, or up to 3 different raffle lionesses at once who would share some of the same traits, but not be identical.

** 5. Releasing recreated copies of previous raffle lionesses who are on banned/closed accounts.
This would be making a replica of the raffle lioness to raffle off through the official raffle system. The original raffle lioness would stay on the same account. This is specifically only for permanently suspended accounts, and accounts that have been closed—not inactive accounts that are not suspended/closed.

** 6. Allow the weekly raffle lioness to be impressed daily instead of once weekly for higher chances of winning, therefore rewarding more active players.
The weekly raffle lioness would still be available for a full week as usual, but daily impression attempts will add up and give a greater chance at winning her as compared to only one attempt per week (how it currently works).

** 7. Add a second raffle lioness for players who have rolled over at least 365 times in total (not consecutively), with potentially more unique traits than a standard Dreamboat raffle lioness.
Players who have rolled over 365 or more times would have the ability to impress both the standard Dreamboat raffle lioness, as well as a second raffle lioness that is only available to accounts with 365+ total rollovers.

We may mix-and-match some of the options, but we will be polling the community on these options regardless.

If you have any ideas or suggestions that were not listed above, we would appreciate your input and highly encourage you to provide a detailed response within this news post!

We will be deleting any comments that do not actually contribute to the discussion.

A lot of you are missing the entire point of the 365 RL being a second separate lion. You still can enter the other one, but consistently active, long time players deserve an RL/something special just for them.

I think the suggestion that you have to be on since wednesday to claim an RL is great in theory so it rewards active players but many of the players freeze their side and might log on on friday to just to have an extra shot of the RL.

I don't necessarily support or not support it, just typing out loud lol

Definitely enjoy the idea of raffle studs the most, maybe alongside the rl, lorewise they could be like siblings or something! Gives more people the opportunity to obtain the traits without having the RL lose all her uniqueness ^^

Giving another thought on this, I feel like chased RLS would just ruin the whole point of having a raffle. What the point of entering said raffle if I'm going find her in the chase pool. There wouldn't be anyone who able to have a private line of their RL and her clones. Along with their huge decrease in value (Similar to how the RA raffle lioness got clone so much it isn't worth as much anymore).

Along this as nice it would be to see old girls, i think it unfair to people who won the raffle lioness that week. And people who dedicated so much time to project revivals would feel unfair to them, and be a waste of their resources and attempts.

Devs is it possible to implement this with the Constellation RL from July?? I’m just wondering. Thank so much. .

Also thank you. For this. Every suggestion made is amazing and very considerate for those who may not have the means to buy clones. I feel it balances the scales.

I personally own multiple lines. I jot into the RLC market last November and it’s something I have enjoyed, but also sorta regretted since I don’t breed for profit. The market is so unstable. It’s scary. Lol however I have been playing almost 9 years and have never won an RL. Not once. And I enter every week sometimes refreshing constantly till the new girl pops ups.

So again thank you. This gives me hope.
Great suggestions all around!! I roll everyday so I’m looking forward to this being implemented!

Also, an important point - I myself got into RLC breeding. I don't own many RLCs. I get it's fun to collect and save up to invest in them. But wanting RLCs to remain "exclusive" so only you can have them as you're richer sounds like Scrooge McDuck vibes to me. RLs will still be luck based here, with these suggestions - there will just be more chances for people to get them. "but value decrease" everything in this game value decreases steven

They're all good ideas! I quite like 2,3,4,5 and 7 the most.

I see some discussion about how 7 may discourage new players from trying, but I see it more as just rewarding veteran players for their loyalty to the game.

Thought, I'm not a huge fan of 1. For players with less territory they're at a huge disadvantage. Between my accounts I can claim 260 or so lionesses, which is huge over someone that hasn't bought any extra territory- 3x what they could claim between their accounts. Anything that makes obtaining a raffle lioness less luck based and more p2w I am not a huge fan of.
More money = more energy boosts, more territory, more catnips, more chances than an average player.
Raffle lionesses right now are one of the few things that are equal chances between all players and cannot be influenced by wealth and I think it would be nice if it stayed that way. :)

I was one of the many people who pitched in on Coffeekita's suggestion and imo it remains the best way to handle the slots not spreading. It does not devalue the RL herself but it does what the RL were originally intended to do.

For #1 About the storing raffle lioness designs etc. I kinda re-read some comments and agree that it might loose some of the raffle purpose - however I wouldn't be too opposed !

Personally loving the #2 and #3 ideas, I've always loved the event studs and having some year-round would be so cool!! I feel like an exact replica or even some with similar traits would be sososo cool!

#4 would be pretty cool to see with not fully identical lionesses!!

#5 That would be nice!!

#6 is cool!! I feel like it would be very cool to see that but would be curious to know whether it would cost 50 per impress!!

#7 would also be really cool to see but worried that some people may feel excluded!

Thank you guys for listening to everyone's concerns and opinions!!

Idk if I mentioned it in my original comment, but I hate option 1 entirely LOL. I really don't know why, but it seems like a truly bad idea. The others are all workable in one way or another, but 2 & 3 are the best and fairest options as I see it.

To add some actual discussion,

I think having studs and multiple copies would be great for the game going forward. There's currently a lot of pressure on the winners to mass breed their lionness pass down the traits and I've always thought that putting it on the players to do that will never end well. I won a raffle dragon on Dragcave (older site) years ago, one of the first of a breed, and there was just this insane amount of pressure to spread this breed for other people. I don't think this kind of system works well and just creates a lot of toxicity (see recent issues). Having a stud + multiple copies would work best.

I think I'm okay with the chased option as well as the daily tickets. I'm not as okay with Wednesday being the cutoff just because, as someone mentioned before, not everyone can log in as much during the week. My other concern is people also freeze their accounts and roll weekly for various reasons and I don't think we should punish people with those playstyles. I think once a week RO requirement works fine. The daily tickets would still somewhat punish them in a way, but at least they'll still have a chance per week regardless.

I don't think multiple RLs with different designs would work too well... though it depends on how different! I think at minimum they should all have the same base + eyes if this is the route that's chosen.

I don't agree with the 365 RO requirement options just because that's a whole year of playing and creates a bigger gap between new and older players. Maybe if this is chosen, it can just be 365 in general and not consecutive as well as winning one of these special ones locks you out of future ones. Or possibly locks you for a certain amount of time out of the future 365 ones. But in general I don't think it would be healthy for the game to increase the divide between new and older players. Older players should be rewarded but not at the expense of new people.

I think the chased option is a favorite of mine out of all the ones here. It promotes activity and rewards both new and older players equally. I also think for this option if you claim one of them you should be locked out for a certain amount of time for claiming any other of these special ones. I also think it shouldn't be possible to lose them if they come up for you, just because they're incredibly special and new players might not recognize them right away. If someone finds them they should get to keep their reward.

Ok so the 2nd implementation that doesn't mean in a row right? I actually would suggest making it six months I agree there is anger about newbies getting them but usually by 6 month roll over time they are at the very least not complete newbs and usually have a good grasp of the game especially if they have a mentor. That and if you've played 6 months you can become a mod so. I definitely get having a 365 day roll over as that definitely gives longer players the advantage and an incentive to play longer. and I'd normally be ok with that but I also feel like that would punish players who are hyper fixated and take the time to learn.
