-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses | |
Posted on 2024-08-05 08:57:00
We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered. We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.

Just to clarify, this news post has not been sparked by any one specific raffle lioness. It stems from an issue we are aware has been growing each week on Lioden as the size of the community increases. Let's please refrain from pointing to specific raffle lionesses as they are not the cause of this discussion topic, as this can be inflammatory and cause arguments or result in the news post spiralling when we would like to keep this open and as neutral as possible. 9 players like this post! Alright this is my idea on this I've been reading people ideas, thoughts, etc on number 1. Here my idea of this, Instead of chasing clones of the rls, why not put in a wenet cousin system. Every month, 10 special lioness will be added into the chase pool. They will have different looks, and randomized. So they have slots and markings to spread and be given out to players who claim lioness. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

5 and 7 feel like the only way to keep the RL “one of a kind” while still ensuring her traits are spread. i think ensuring that the raffle lioness is UNIQUE while also ensuring her traits are reasonably spread is the ONLY way to proceed. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Imo nothing needs to change apart from ensuring the raffle lioness goes to an active account. RLs are MEANT to be rare, if more than one of the same design is released then what's the point? ESPECIALLY if they can be found in explore. They lose literally all worth then, and the price of BO studs/markings goes down exponentially. All the work we've put in breeding unique marked BO lions is gone because now its a dime a dozen. At that point what are they worth? Nobody *needs* an RL or a clone- its a luxury in the same way we don't increase leopon odds so everyone can breed one. Would be very disappointed to see the entire market tank even more than it already has. We have a HUGE issue with the economy right now and this would probably nuke the value of one of the very few things that are consistently worth GB. I like the challenge of trying to breed a clone, so do many other people on site, its a goal and a hugely rewarding one at that. I don't believe in making things easier for the hell of it just to appease a subset of the player base who want cool lions without having to work for them. This game has never been about handing stuff on a silver platter EVER and sadly I feel like that's what it's becoming. Also liodev team, I don't think you've considered this will negatively impact GB sales. More RLs in circulation = less incentive to buy GB for things like gnawrocks and buffies. Muties aren't valuable anymore apart from hybrids, and if the changes proposed are implemented then you've just gotten rid of a HUGE aspect of the market which is RL breeding. I'm so baffled this has come out of nowhere. 11 players like this post! Like? |

I quite like the idea of gradually spreading through the chased pool! It's a lot fairer that way and is an incentive to keep actively using Lioden imo :3 0 players like this post! Like? |

with a lot of other players currently saying 10 chased raffle lionesses being too many, i raise this point: 10 lionesses when nearly 8,000+ participate in the raffles each week & want the lioness i feel like is a fair trade off tbh. it doesn't feel like "too many" - when there are SO many people playing on this site wishing for a chance to get their very own raffle lioness- 9 more for the thousands of players hoping to get one isn't too bad if it IS too many, maybe limit it to about 5 instead of 10. I do not actually think this would fully devalue RLs or their clones, as not everyone finding these chased Raffle lionesses will clone or breed them. its just giving a slightly better chance that the traits will be passed by more people. i did say in an earlier comment but just to keep it together in one thought here, i think that these raffle chased lionesses should only be available to dreamboats. they're special, and raffle lionesses are already limited to dreamboat status anyway, so this would be more appropriate in terms of rarities and yeah, you could argue that people with more GB can have an advantage by spamming energy boosts, but generally speaking you can do that with the rest of the game as well? this kind of advantage has always existed in the game due the GB being buyable. 2 players like this post! Thank you so much for opening the discussion to reform the community around RLs. I disagree with #1 the chasing mechanism. This is because 10 clones of the same lady would cause too much competition and result in most likely low prices among the line. I think it would be best just to stick to the one RL. #2/3 I like the idea of raffle studs but instead of making him identical, maybe just let him have the new markings or eyes, mane, skin, base. And I think it would be better to limit the amount of players able to breed to him to 20 or less. Because once again this would cause competition and cause the new traits to immediately be worthless without a fair amount of people being able to have a chance at profit. #4 instead of 3 raffle lionesses instead release 2 starkly different ones. They have the same new traits but they have different designs where they are barely identical. 3 raffle lionesses seem a bit much. #5 I absolutely love this idea. Far too many girls haven’t even had the chance to grace the site. But I hope this idea extends to inactive RLs as well. A least ones with zero active clones in the last 2 years. #6 Love this idea as well, I play everyday so it would be nice to have this mechanic. I would also have a place to spend sb on. #7 This idea is nice too. An RL for for the entire player site and then an RL for older players. While on this topic I just wanted to add that if multiple RLs and raffle studs are added then maybe consider having two people instead of one designing all these looks. Also to open up to having celestial based RLs too. Sending an email notification will be really helpful as well since LD doesn’t send notifs. 4 players like this post! Like? @Bilby " I do however think giving a "RL care package" or such would be very helpful for winners. Part of the issue of traits not getting out there and RLs going extinct is that winners may not be equipped to breed a RL and maximise their windfall from her, which can lead to overwhelm, guilt, freezing the lion/taking a hiatus, and perhaps most worryingly, vulnerability to predatory players who 'offer' to supply items in exchange for x/y/z cubs" It isn't staffs responsibility to make sure you have what you need to breed your lion. It's also not predatory to offer breeding items in exchange for a cub or two If I give you a buffy scrote, crunchy worm, or whatever else, it's not unreasonable to expect SOMETHING in return. That's just a basic deal. Also this doesn't fix the issue. Clones and cubs that are created still only exist in the winners pride and they could still choose not to sell or spread. You're already winning a lion (one person out of often 6000+ people) people will pay big bucks to have, why are you asking for a 'care package' too? 0 players like this post! Like? |

STRONGLY opposed to the '1 year+ raffle lioness'. I've only been playing for a couple months and I've already spent hundreds of dollars on this game, it seems extremely unfair to make things exclusive for people who have been playing longer. Would definitely stop playing if this happens. Are SO many RL's going to new players that this is necessary? 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 05/08/24 @ 16:34:02 by Lorian (#478973) |

1. Bringing those back from closed accounts = ofc. This to me is a no-brainer, has 0 negative consequences. Would be awesome! 2. Without going too much into the specific suggestions, my overall opinion is that exploration should be rewarded over logging in, especially with the RO X amount of days before Friday option. I'm not as opposed to the 365 non consecutive days, but I think newer players should definitely be heard on this. Overall happy with most options, only one I'm not a fan of is the Wednesday RO option as that would mean I pretty much never will have a chance. 0 players like this post! Like? |

What if instead of releasing several copies of a full raffle lioness, yall did a year long system like the celestial RLs? For the week after a RL is won, 7 different partial RLs with 2-3 traits would be released (one for each day) Taking this weeks RL as an example, some partial celestial-style RLs could be: - Kiwifruit eyes, Slot 1 marking, Slot 7 making - Ukame base, Tsavo mane type, Slot 9 marking - Sandstone skin, Slot 4 marking, Taupe mane color I think this would be better than another copy of a full RL, as it spreads the traits around without devaluing the RL herself (and clones) 6 players like this post! I love the idea of finding the raffle girls as chased lionesses. It offers more incentive to explore which will probably raise player activity in general 0 players like this post! Like? |

1. As others have said, RLs just stop being unique if there are 10 guaranteed copies of them. But one claimable RL with a failsafe could be fun to watch out for in Explore! 2. I like this idea! Raffle studs would help spread BO eyes, bases, and mane colors without devaluing the actual RL. The 365 rollovers requirement may ensure the RL ends up in good hands but it would be VERY frustrating for newbies. Imagine learning the ropes of a new game and loving it but being locked out a of a core mechanic. And if the odds of actually winning the RL become better (and they will be better simply because fewer eligible participants = less competition), then it all just sounds like an elite club for older players. Maybe 30-50 rollovers would work, though? 3. I like the idea of non-identical studs much less. A lot of RLs look very unique (props to Katze!), but when she has five variants, then the lot of them becomes kind of a blur. On the other hand, if someone likes one of the studs better than the lioness, replicating him would make for a fun breeding project that's very rewarding but perfectly doable 4. Identical copies present the same problem as #1, but without the thrill of claiming the copy randomly. Multiple different RLs would exacerbate the issues we're trying to solve here as they'd also die out, end up on inactive accounts etc., and there would be pressure to keep each line alive. So, that's a no from me. 5. I like this in theory, but some players enjoy replicating extinct RLs. Imagine her being re-released just as you're at 14/15 6. Love this. 7. Aren't RLs already as unique as they come? However, what if the 365 rollovers RLs were otherwise identical but had a mutation? That way, older players would have 2x chance to claim the lioness (and hopefully take proper care of her), there would be the additional challenge of getting the mutation to pass onto a clone, and newer players wouldn't be locked out. 1 player likes this post!
