-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses | |
Posted on 2024-08-05 08:57:00
We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered. We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.

I've come back to edit this as I'm not very good at organizing my thoughts! - The 2 day rollovers I feel is a too little time for people and honestly I think having time caps on activity is a already leaning towards being unfair. I love Lioden for the fact that relatively if something happens in your life or you need to break for any reason you aren't heavily penalized. You won't make profit but typically your pride isn't going to vanish on you. Emergencies happen irl and I feel that that penalized those people more than prevents people from going inactive with the raffle lions. - related re-releasing raffle lions that are lost or on banned/long inactive (talking years) accounts is a wonderful idea. I feel like raffle lions are unique enough to deserve to be preserved and remembered within the community. While some people might think this will make them less special I feel the opposite- we are constantly getting new raffle lions and that can obsolete old ones. Not to mention old players who may remember those lions will certainly be excited to see them again, giving older players that satisfaction and maybe another chance to get her. - I think raffle studs are the best way to go :D they can even work kinda like the Jag boosts where you get a breeding (or few, if less people win the stud) within your pride with the stud applied. That gives a decent chance at traits passing and I don't think this would affect the value or rarity of the raffle lioness. Realistically you cannot use Gnaws or crunchies (or shouldn't be able to imo) so the chance of a full clone is slim to none. And if so will probably appear via work by the player to breed to a similar lioness. This option is the most neutral middle ground I can really think of. Also perhaps raffle studs can have guaranteed passed traits such as eyes or manes, or a single slot of marking. Having male raffle studs will also make mane marks and colors play more of a part in designs!!! Which would be cool to see. - I do not think releasing them into explore is the best idea personally. Full on clones does devalue the lioness even without the backgrounds (perhaps if old raffle lions are reintroduced they can include more decor to spice them up!!!) And the rng revolving around this is a lot. There's no guarantee the lions will be found for a long time. This will also lead to players with more resources grindingexplore with energy items and all, leaving newer players or players without those resources with less chance to encounter them. That feels pay to win to me in a way (even though you can get rich on this site without paying a penny, I mean more in a time sense). In addition if multiple lioness are raffled off at any time I don't think they should run at the same time. I feel that it makes it more complicated and less special in a way? Which I can't entirely put into words. I would love to see it done where there's a monthly/biweekly lioness and then the weekly, with maybe extra thrown in for holidays or special days (like Lioden anniversary, black Friday, ect). This one is more about the whole argument/counter arguments for this as a whole. Players who play with the goal of creating raffle clones may be uneasy with the things suggested. And I would just like to point out, the point of raffle lionesses is both used as a neat little trophy AND a way to put new rare traits into the game which is where the issue really lies. You might profit off of the rarity but it can become very anti community and clique-y which is what it feels like it's become. There has been increased infighting surrounding raffle lionesses over time and there's a reason for that that's not the fault of either party. Something has to be done about this system whether it affects that play style or not. Things come and fall out of popularity and profit in this game and that's the way it's been for years. I can see some people already becoming slightly upset at the notion their hard work will be devalued. And that sucks, but that doesn't change the work you personally put in! You cannot deny over time things become easier and cheaper to obtain in a game where new things are being added, constantly. It's a never ending battle if you're obsessed with trying to have things that you want to be unique or special to just you in a game like this. If that makes sense? Eventually, someone else, regardless of hard work or luck or things becoming easier will get something similar to you, with less resources. It's unavoidable. This is not a single player game. You can do whatever you'd like with your lionesses ofc and you should never feel pressured to share a lion you don't want to. That's why we need this change! The problem is putting the burden of putting new traits on a lioness and then giving it to a single person creates a dilemma, either they share their lion and traits or the community gets upset. The community should not expect a single player to share their assets (that falls under begging in a roundabout way, no?) But that single player should not be given something that can gatekeep new features from the community. RLC players point to the harassment they receive and it's not right, but if things remain unchanged like the way some players want, that's not going to stop. Thus is why I feel the raffle studs are the best as it's giving a sure way that traits and features get into the game without the raffle lioness owners needing to do it themselves. Yes this will possibly mean they won't make as much profit but honestly I don't think a raffle lioness should mean you have the right to make a bunch of profit off of her. A trophy shouldn't equal a leg up in the game based on luck alone compared to everyone else. At least, that's the way I see it. 0 players like this post! Like? Hello everyone. I am here to address the concerns of myself and a fellow RL owner. We feel that these changes will screw over those that have worked diligently to preserve the rarity of their lines. It seems unfair to me that someone wins a RL and decides that they would like to keep the line private for rarity purposes just to have someone else get a replica and decide to sell clones for dirt cheap. The market here is already horrible with little to no success with selling anything and this will simply cause it to regress further. If this were to be implemented I believe that you would lose a lot of your older players, especially those who own RLs. I will say that I agree wirh rereleasing those that are on suspended accounts, but ONLY those ones. If a RL is not on a suspended account it should not be rereleased, it just isn't fair. The RL studs is a good idea for releasing new traits and still allows the owner of the RL to keep their line private if they so choose. This is the only suggestion here that I whole-heartedly support. 9 players like this post! Like? |

My main issues with this are mostly What if someone wins the Rl and then finds the chased on a side they’d have both People have spent thousands of gb on buying raffle lionesses and their clones, This will make it even worst cause they would feel like they’ve wasted their gbs Private and semi private lines owners should not be punished like this for choosing to keep their lines private, Their already harassed as it is 0 players like this post! I really like option 1, 3 and 5, as well as the section where players need to have rolled more than 365 times in total. I think that implementing all four ideas will help balance things out and make it a little less heartbreaking to see gorgeous RL designs disappear into the abyss of a suspended/inactive account. I don’t like the idea of being able to impress the RL daily as much, nor do I like the idea of releasing more than 1 (not just because it takes the novelty out of it, but it also doubles/triples the workload for the admins making the RL’s). That said, if we do end up with more than one RL a week, maybe the other designs could be player made, and have a limitation in place so that they are more on level with the Maneater studs. That way we get more platforms to spread new markings and bases etc, but we keep the exclusivity of the original RL system. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I’m happy with all of these options, though the raffle stud who is identical to the lioness is probably my favorite. As a rare RLC owner I would MUCH rather have lines be more common and cheaper if it meant their traits were being properly spread out. Private lines and semi private lines just encourage price gouging, which is fine for the owners, not so much for the rest of the playerbase trying to get that specific trait. You can’t force people to sell their RLs or their cubs-even in the wiki it goes on about how only the winner can decide what to do with them-so the original purpose of spreading traits is lost. The idea of the chased clones is very fun, I think, but I also think it would cause the most uproar because private line owners wouldn’t be able to charge a premium for lions they control the market for. I feel the raffle clone studs are a nice middle ground that allows traits to be distributed with a much lower chance of a duplicate RL being made. Alternatively, perhaps instead of chased clones, there would be chased partial clones that could have between 1-5 traits of the RL, so for example a few chaseds with one or two marks, eyes, a mane shape/color, and the base. It could be randomized or custom made to select the newly released traits, either or would work. Overall I like the effort put into these options, I think they all stand a good chance of solving the issue, at least in part. 5 players like this post! Like? |

A few words about Adjusting the raffle lioness system so that only players who have been active in the last two days (so Wednesdays onward) will have a chance to win when the raffle lioness is pulled This is not funny, because you have already paid the fee on Monday/etc and now your fee burns and you lose your SB and a chance. No, please, this is stupid! Change the whole system if you want to do so, for example... 1) You can try to impress lioness only on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then she rolls. 2) You can try to impress Lioness #1 on Sat-Mon and she rolls on Tuesday rollover, then you can impress Lionesses #2 (for scenario with few RLs/clones weekly) 3 players like this post! This is cool! I love the raffle stud idea, that would be exciting. Maybe once in a while the stud could have a breeding item applied! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

@akuma if they do then they do??? Like it's the luck of the draw of rng. It's no different then if someone got three jags from their jag boosts. Some people are always going to keep THIER line private. There's no two ways about that. So yeah there might be people who will get the rl and the chased. But realistically that is going to be so incredibly low that I don't think it would be that much of an issue 2 players like this post! Like? |

Option 2 or 3 would be amazing! Any offspring would be somewhat unique and the traits would be spread (more or less) randomly across LD. 3 players like this post! Like? |

i think i love all the options, personally i love the idea of Raffle studs, since you could or you coudl not get the new base/marking/eyes whatever they release new. i also like the idea of them being chase lioness, since there you really NEED to be a somewhat active player to maybe get them 1 player likes this post! I would really like to list how I feel abt there options with why I feel that way- and maybe suggest ways to make them better for more ppl! For only allowing players who have ROed 2 days before, I don't think alot of ppl will like this one tbh. Some ppl choose certain days to log on- and might miss the chance. Instead, maybe consider making to where someone has ROed at least 3-4 times that week. This proves activity and dedication enough imo, and ppl who have smthin come up a certain day won't be as affected. I think releasing RL designs through explore is not the best idea. It makes them seem less special, even if it's a rare chance to find them. Releasing NRLCs with a few exclusive RL marks that are now hard to find might be a better solution via using explore. I think either raffle stud option is honestly okay. Raffle studs work fine on Wolvden. Releasing multiple RLs a week isn't a bad idea, however I'm not sure on identical copies so it would hard on the artist to try and design 3 different ones every single week. For this, I would suggest 2-3 different RLs and open the option for the public to suggest RL designs again. To fix the issue of ppl thinking they're owed the RL since they suggested it, make it so suggestions must include that they acknowledge that submitting the design does not guarantee they will actually win the design. Releasing RLs lost to banned accounts is a 10/10 idea and I support it fully. I can't think of a reason not to, as they are literally lost to the times. Allowing the RL to be impressed daily Isn't a bad idea either. This definitely rewards active players best, and I think would be a very good way to ensure they go to an active home. I also agree with the idea to add a second RL for ppl who have ROed 365 days total. I can't think of a reason this wouldn't be a good idea other than it being inaccessible to accs that ARE active, just without the seniority of 365 ROs. This is a good idea, however there are plenty of ppl who could still have been doing a RO everyday for 6 months who'd be excluded from this. I think a focus should be more on how often a person does RO as opposed to how much they've done RO. That's all for now- if anyone has anything to add or disagrees with smthin I've suggested pls lemme know and we can discuss it maybe!! I don't wanna suggest bad ideas that would hurt the game. 4 players like this post! Like? |

ALLL for raffle studs - as a BO breeder this feels like a really nice way of getting marks out into the hands of players quicker whilst not devaluing the RL <3 5 players like this post! Like? |

I'm in favor for 3 and 7. I work full time. I am very passionate about Lioden. However, the nature of my work leaves me absolutely exhausted on some days after I'm in the beating heat during the summer, enduring consistent temperatures over 100F° or higher. I feel as though the other options outside of 3 and 7 do not consider those that are like me, whom have put a significant amount of money into Lioden and have every intention to play for the foreseeable future, but have things testing their physical limits. I cannot roll every Wednesday and Thursday to make sure I have a certain chance of entering the raffle draw, especially in the middle of a challenging week. However, Monday and Tuesday would be more favorable since I haven't had to push myself so many consecutive days. I've been playing since 2016, and have entered most of the RL raffles. I haven't won a single one on either of my accounts. I didn't have a job through a significant portion of the years following 2016. I feel as though the alternatives would solely benefit those who have the luxury of not working in conditions akin to warehouse work, or any job in general. Logistically speaking, 3 and 7 seem the most universal and respectful options. Releasing NCL RL versions has already been touched on enough, so I won't repeat what has been mentioned before. Re-releasing old designs can be touchy, and I worry it would be at risk of being done incorrectly. ETA: Thank you for the reply, Katze! Closing and deactivating accounts has been clarified, and cleared up confusion above. Removed the part about deactivation, as it was incorrect wording :) Some people say 365 rollovers is too much, but I feel that it is a considerable "reward" for being a longtime dedicated player, especially considering there will still be a universal lioness, and that many rollovers for how old Lioden is seems reasonable. The amount of users vouching for explore RLs is concerning. It's very easy to predict how such a system could be abused, and how new players would be vulnerable to being predated upon by poaching/dishonest players. Explore RLs would have an abysmal market, and there's not a question in my mind about it. I typed this on mobile after a hot and humid 10hr shift, so please pardon my fumbling or extensive wording! Edit: Can we ignore all the instant-gratification folks that can't read that the 365/RO wouldn't replace the current, but instead add a second? Not really worth weighing that in because they're not taking the time to read and understand. Kthx, bye! 11 players like this post! Like? Edited on 05/08/24 @ 14:57:31 by Icarus (#97414) |

As add on for the 2 day before RO thing. For example some players like me, store thier rlc on a frozen account to keep thier rlc if they run out of crunchy's. Now we lose and our sb and our chanse for the rl. Please just get rid of this idea entirely. Its not fair and lioden would take simply your sb. For me personally would ruin the whole rl thing together with the 10 extra releases. As a rlc owner its already hard enough, and we spends thousands of gb to keep up with them. Just to see the market crash even more. Everything on lioden is already easy to obtain. Let the rl be a harder part if the game. No need to feed the FOMO of player who want to have everything. We all can get acces to clones if we save up from events. Dont punish your older and hard working players. Tbh it would be a reason for me to quit this game, since all my effords of the past years would just go to waste 5 players like this post! Like? |
