-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses
Posted on 2024-08-05 08:57:00
We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered.

We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.

New Features Being Implemented

We have some features that will be added regardless of feedback within a future update:

New Features We May Implement

* Adjusting the raffle lioness system so that only players who have been active in the last two days (so Wednesdays onward) will have a chance to win when the raffle lioness is pulled
* Sending an email notification to the player who won the weekly raffle lioness

New Features We're Considering/Discussing

These are features we have had ideas for, or have found in the Game Development forums, and would like to see which of the following would be most preferred.

** 1. Storing raffle lioness designs and releasing them slowly through explore.
Essentially, this would mean creating multiple copies of the same raffle lioness to be slow-dripped into the game through the claiming system. They would work as chased lionesses, so only kings with Average impression or higher could find them. This would likely come with a failsafe so that if the lioness fails to be claimed, she goes back into the chased pool so another player has a chance to claim her. All raffle lionesses are made with the Nurturing (Good) personality, so raffle lionesses released through the claiming system would display the Good pose.

The first week, Raffle Lioness 1 is pulled and sent to the winner, and Raffle Lioness 2 is put up to be impressed. The second week, Raffle Lioness 2 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 3 is put up to be impressed, and a clone of Raffle Lioness 1 is put into the chased lioness pool in explore. The third week, Raffle Lioness 3 is pulled and sent to the winner, Raffle Lioness 4 is put up to be impressed, and clones of Raffle Lionesses 1 and 2 are put into the chased pool in explore. This repeats up to a maximum of 9 clones, making for 10 total lionesses with the same design.

A graph to show the overall release schedule for raffle lionesses through explore.
[Click to view the image full-sized]

** 2. Releasing an identical replica raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness.
The stud would have the exact same traits as the raffle lioness, but rather than being delivered to a winner's territory, a select amount of players (between 20-50) would win the ability to breed with him. This would work similarly to August's event studs in that items could not be used on the stud for breeding. We also considered, if implementing replica studs, to allow all players to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but lock weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.

** 3. Implementing raffle studs in general.
An alternative to releasing an identical replica raffle stud would be releasing a raffle stud alongside a raffle lioness who may share similar traits, e.g. if a raffle lioness is releasing a brand new eye colour, the raffle stud that week would have that eye colour as well, or if she is releasing a brand new raffle marking, the raffle stud that week would have that marking as well (either in the same slot, or a different slot). Breedings to this stud would also be limited to 20-50 players weekly, and items would not be allowed. This would also come with all players being able to enter for a chance to win a stud breeding, but locking weekly raffle lionesses so that only accounts that have 365 or more total rollovers (not consecutive) would be eligible to try and impress her.

** 4. Releasing more than one raffle lioness per week.
This would either be multiple identical copies of the same raffle lioness, or up to 3 different raffle lionesses at once who would share some of the same traits, but not be identical.

** 5. Releasing recreated copies of previous raffle lionesses who are on banned/closed accounts.
This would be making a replica of the raffle lioness to raffle off through the official raffle system. The original raffle lioness would stay on the same account. This is specifically only for permanently suspended accounts, and accounts that have been closed—not inactive accounts that are not suspended/closed.

** 6. Allow the weekly raffle lioness to be impressed daily instead of once weekly for higher chances of winning, therefore rewarding more active players.
The weekly raffle lioness would still be available for a full week as usual, but daily impression attempts will add up and give a greater chance at winning her as compared to only one attempt per week (how it currently works).

** 7. Add a second raffle lioness for players who have rolled over at least 365 times in total (not consecutively), with potentially more unique traits than a standard Dreamboat raffle lioness.
Players who have rolled over 365 or more times would have the ability to impress both the standard Dreamboat raffle lioness, as well as a second raffle lioness that is only available to accounts with 365+ total rollovers.

We may mix-and-match some of the options, but we will be polling the community on these options regardless.

If you have any ideas or suggestions that were not listed above, we would appreciate your input and highly encourage you to provide a detailed response within this news post!

We will be deleting any comments that do not actually contribute to the discussion.

Option 1 would completely change how rls are regarded and their worth. I think putting out 10 copies is excessive. In order for me to ever consider this option I would want there to be way less copies. Even doing only 5 would be way better in my eyes. Also a big flaw in this option is that it would greatly favor people who can afford to spend mass amounts of currency on energy boosts and catnips. One thing I appreciate about the current rl system is that besides needing a dreamboat king, everyone has an equal change to get the rl. You can't pay to increase your odds to win her besides paying the initial 50sb.

My favorite option is implementing raffle studs. This seems like a great way to spread new traits without devaluing the raffle lioness. It would still feel special to win her but it wouldn't be on this single lion to spread new traits.

I think Option 1 would heavily devalue RLs, especially if it was up to 10 chased RLs. I do like Options 5 & 3 the most, since they'd have a better impact on RL trait distribution w/o tanking RL prices, but I'm also partial to Option 4

I really like the idea of rereleasing raffle lionesses that are on inactive accounts, and I love the idea of putting raffle lionesses in explore! I think it would also be cool if lionesses with similar markings could be found in explore, and the more similar markings they have the rarer the lioness! Maybe they could be exclusive to higher level areas to make claiming lionesses in those areas a little more interesting!

Perhaps instead of RLC chaseds, how about NCLs w/ 2-3 of a contemporary RL's BO traits that are released during the week the RL is available? These would be rare, only available to leads w/ Dreamboat impression

My favorite options are 3,5,7. 3. Studs would be a good way to introduce more genes and could be a cool goal to recreate. 5. So many beautiful lions have been lost over the years which has upset many. 7. You can never go wrong with giving a bonus to long term players and it also works as an incentive to keep playing.

I'm glad to see the new post, but most of the ideas seem not so great to me, if I'm being honest.

1. I'm HEAVELY AGAINST releasing RL as NCL. As many players said, it would lower their value, make them feel less special for the winners, make people spend more currency on energy boosts to have higher chances and all other options listed above by other players. MAYBE, just maybe, this idea can be used to release VERY OLD RLC with less spread/endangered traits, and their number should be at least halved (no more than 5 clones). But it's still not a very good idea, probably. Again, maybe just adding a few lionesses (not RLC) with old RL traits.

2. I don't really like the idea of identical clone. Same with decreasing the value and making RL feel less special. Still, it's better than chased RLC.

3. This idea coulb be nice, BUT I don't like the idea of restricting RL. I remember how I started, and it was very nice to have the possibility to impress the RL with very easy requirements to fulfill even as a noobie (even though I have never won one, lol, but still). Maybe would be more fair to add the restriction to the studs instead, not to the RL: RL would still be speial, and her role would be to introduce new traits to any lucky winner, but more experienced players would also have an extra chance to gain these traits through the stud.

4. I don't really like the idea, especially if they're indentical clones. Same argumements as the points above. If we really have to think about this idea, to better have some compromise/alternative, as with the 1st and 3d points. For example, there still will be one RL, truly special and one of a kind. But alongside her, there might be one or two less special girls. They would never have a mutation, and they should be less special in general: maybe less markings (5 instead of 10?), and more easy-to-find traits in general (except for the raffle trait). Or better yet, maybe they should be just your ordinary lionesses, same as most NCL, BUT with the special trait that is being introduced. The cost of impressing her/them would be a bit lower, but the winner of the extra raffle girl(s) still can try to spread new trait, and the winner of the original RL will still have their own very special lioness. I think this approach (NCL with new raffle traits) would be the most wise if implementing this change, and it would devalue the RL a bit less.

5. The only new feature I 100% support. Please, make it happen!

6. I don't really like the idea, but I guess it's better than some others. I noticed a change some user before me suggested (sorry, I lost the original post): making the cost increase each time you're trying to impress her. 50, 100, 150...I still don't really like the idea, but this way it seems a bit better.

7. I have mixed feelings regarding this one, but I don't thinks it's really that bad to make something more special for players who stayed with the game for longer. It would be a sweet little treat for them.

That's all my thoughts for now, but maybe I'll add more later on. Sorry if there's mistakes/something's difficult to understand/other similar problems since English isn't my first language and might be a bit awkward with it.

I love the idea of releasing the raffle lionesses as chased lionesses in explore! That sounds like such a fun idea.

Re: people not liking the idea of full clones, but being OK with lionesses who have 2-3 of the RL's traits, how would you feel about a compromise? 10 NCLs that keep the NEW traits (or rare slots) the RL is meant to introduce, but whose less special traits are replaced with common BO or even non-BO traits? More like the RLs of olden days, basically. I think finding a 10m, designed lioness with a special base would be a lot more exciting than just... basically an NCL with one cool mark. Some people won't even keep that, defeating the point of the explore gals helping spread new traits.

This would also be pretty much what Wenet's best-looking cousins are, and they don't seem to have big impacts on prices.

A few examples...
1). The RL is the RL. She has 15 BO traits, and is a combo base. One is a new mark, two are new/very rare slots, and her eyes are fairly new.
Her NCL cousins have her eyes, and the three more special markings. Their base is a special rarity factor for her combo. Their remaining 7 markings are broken down as follows: 4 common (1000+ in the slot she has it in) BO marks, 2 T6 marks, and one T1 mark. She doesn't have BO skin, and her mane is an applicator (but not common NCL) color and shape.

2). The RL is the RL. She has 15 BO traits. She has no new markings but her base and mane color are new. A few of her slots are rare, but not less-than-50 lions rare. Everything else is established in the population already.
Her NCL cousins have her base and mane colors and 1 of her rarer marks. Their other markings are 3 common BO marks, 2 piety marks, and 4 T1 marks. Their skin and eyes are regular app options as are their mane shape.

(And of course, her cousins could never be mutations.)

Pretty enough in their own right to be exciting to find, valuable starters for projects to recreate the RL herself, capable of putting new traits in the hands of people interested in spreading them, but not so valuable they'll crash the clone market further- old RL designs aren't exactly popular and these would have about the same amount of BO traits. They'd never have the same value as the RL, especially those that don't have her base, which I think would be fair when the RL is a combo.

I've already replied once but after a few discussions in chat, I think I have more well-thought-out ideas and opinions on how raffle lionesses should be adjusted.

1. Require accounts to have 40 days of activity before they can impress a raffle lioness.

2. Require accounts to reroll 2-3 times in a week before they can impress the RL. It proves activity, without screwing over players who may be busy at certain times during the week.

3. Have 3 raffle lionesses a week with unique designs centered around a "spotlight trait"

4. If multiple RLs are introduced, allow users to choose an RL to impress. 2/3 of the RLs will be available to ALL players, BUT the third can only be impressed by users with users that have rolled over 150~300 times. Possibly allow users with 150~300 rollovers to have an extra vote OR the "exclusive" RL does not count against the vote between the other two RLs.

5. Have a weekly stud that has the same "spotlight trait" with two options of how studding works;

a. The studs are high BO(less than RLs) and are raffled, 20 players have an opportunity to breed 1 lioness to the male with no breeding items.

b. The studs only have 2-3 BO, but work similarly to savage males. They have a hefty fee, or a quest that will take multiple days to complete, but are available to all users who can then breed a singular lioness to them.

Raffle lionesses should still FEEL like a unique gift without locking traits to a singular user or forcing the owners to immediately mass breed and pawn off all their cubs. Currently, the RLs are an obligation and chore over a gift that the owners can do what they please with. RLs will still have a market even if the markings become accessible, because at the end of the day, people still want the DESIGN and line itself.

Spotlight Trait Examples

In reference to the two new features possibly being implemented. Making sure the person rolls over within the last two days and sending an email. I believe both ideas would be effective and should be put into the game. If someone has been logged out for 5 days, they will probably not rollover any time soon.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Idea 1.) The distribution of lionesses through explore. The effort you all put into mapping how you would make this happen is thorough. I think this would be a good way to prevent gatekeeping while still keeping them largely rare and valuable. Dripping them into the community would make searching and claiming in explore even more thrilling. Having a fail-proof on them for someone else to claim also sounds like a wonderful idea. Several others and myself have talked about how this is the most exciting idea and I'd be ecstatic to have it introduced into the game! If any idea is implemented into the game this one is by far the most thrilling! As another person said, it would also reward users who actively play the game.

Addendum: I also understand 10 can be a lot, I would compromise and either do 5 at the max or release “clones” that look similar but do change some things to make the initial raffle lioness more unique. Either way I like the concept and a compromise to keep the excitement of the initial raffle lioness would be ideal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ideas 2-4.) Adding raffle lion studs and making copies of the raffle lionesses. All of these ideas are solid, this would give individuals more opportunities to obtain rare slots. Or, in the case of slightly altered marking slots, best case scenario, it adds more diversity to the game. (Say, adding jellyfish inverted maracaja to slot 4 and 8 between different raffle lionesses and studs) would actually increase overall diversity in the game through these different releases. This gives more options to people who want to do project kings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Idea 5.) This idea is truly phenomenal, it's sad that some designs are either critically endangered or extinct. I'm in full favor of this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Idea 6.) While impressing a lioness multiple times a week to get more tickets sounds fun, it would be unfair to anyone who couldn't roll over every day due to work or life so it would be best to avoid this one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Idea 7.) Having a more exclusive lioness for very active players sounds ideal! It would reward activity and the possibility of having more rare traits is exciting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you to everyone who has worked so tirelessly to create these changes! Your effort is unparalleled.

I'm still technically new, so I may not fully grasp any of this, but honestly I'm not fond of releasing raffle lionesses in explore. I feel as if it ruins the purpose of raffle lions in general, as they're supposed to be exclusive. However slowly trickling out exclusive markings/eyes/etc. would be better and more beneficial, if the winner of the raffle lioness decides to make it a private line. Releasing 10 clones ruins the point of a raffle lioness in my opinion.

Another thought, rather then risk over saturating, why not just a second raffle lioness? When there’s a new mark/trait they can be on two raffle lionesses but with different designs. I think that would improve chances of getting the new trait out there but still be “special” and it would be fun just having 2 different designs that suit different tastes.
