-LOCKED - Discussion: Raffle Lionesses | |
Posted on 2024-08-05 08:57:00
We are aware of some issues that the community has been voicing with the raffle lioness system, with some complaints including it being difficult to pass on raffle-exclusive traits, raffle lionesses going to inactive accounts, and so on. We have had our own discussion among the developers and would now like to present a discussion where the community can provide feedback on the ideas we have outlined below regarding how the system can be modified, and possibly even give their own ideas if they aren't already covered. We will be closely monitoring this topic to record feedback, which we will then use for an upcoming site poll.

Didn't mention it in my other post cause I didn't notice but- Not a huge fan of the 365 days of rollovers for studs. That feels like a long restriction for a lion you don't even get to keep. Maybe 180 days would be better? I still like the idea of an extra RLC for players who are active and loyal to the game though, as it still feels like a reward and an incentive to be active. 4 players like this post! Like? |

I would LOVEEEEEE option 7. To already have RLs worth hundreds of GB and then suddenly only a select few of people have access to another kind of RL? It’d increase the odds of a well experienced person getting an RL because of the opportunity of both of them and probably increasing the value of the RL. I’d imagine that the more experienced RL would cost wayyy more because not everyone would have access to it and still manage to keep RL pricing pretty high by not adding more clones but more opportunities. AHHHH YES PLEASEEEWW 3 players like this post! Like? |

i'd prefer, out of any of these options, 3 4 and 5. #1. releasing these traits does also give advantage to the active, yes, but does not acknowledge that there are players who work full-time and can't grind to get these traits from explore. i can also see a scenario, like jaglions, where people are buying energy boosts in hopes of getting to it first. it just isn't the fairest option, despite it being a great idea on-paper. if you want to release the traits like this do a fair handful instead of a full clone. #6. out of all of these, i think option 6 bothers me the most. we run into the same issue here as we do with releasing the traits - there are players who don't roll every single day. yes, it gives active players a hand and advantage, but it makes people who have real-life obligations swallow the opportunity. (i'm going to say now that i am in reference to players who roll every other day to every two days. i am not talking about players who roll once a week or less.) if you were to do this i'd like to see it exactly as it's worded - once a day. any more than that becomes a massive disadvantage to players who work full-time or otherwise have other obligations. 3. raffle studs, to me, seem like the absolute best option. i use raffle lionesses for traits. after starting projects, i submit a request for the traits that don't yet exist, and yay, they're added! but, now, i'm at the mercy of a player wanting/not wanting to spread the line. if they want it private i'm out on those traits entirely until either fodders are released with my desired trait(s) or the trait is reintroduced again. raffle studs allow me a chance to get the traits for my project without the run-around. i'm not seeing the point in locking the lioness here, but i'd be fine with this trade-off. 7. i'm okay with another one being released for those who have rolled more than i have yet. my concerns lie still in the spread of these traits, since the entire point of the raffle lioness is to introduce them to the community, is it not? i feel like this still poses a threat to raffle lionesses as a whole doing the intended job. tl;dr, raffle studs seem like the best choice, but 3,4, and 5 are all fairly solid options. 3 players like this post! I love the chasing idea. And I understand why putting a 365 rollover wall on the RLs. Though it would be a bummer to newer players that are active and also meet the actual requirements for RLs. I, for instance, wouldn't have a chance on a raffle for another whole year. So if the chased RLCs are implied alongside the 365 rollover rule, I think it would be a good idea 0 players like this post! Like? |

I really dont agree with the Wednesday onward thing.... People have accounts that they don't roll over often, and it's unfair for them to be rolled over just because they arent on that account. Does the activity count for judt coming online, or actually having to be rolled over? I love the raffle stud idea and have always been in support of that idea, as well as more than 1 lioness per week. I feel the explore option is NOT a good idea, I can see many issues with this and it wouldn't help in situations when a user fails to claim her and she goes to another player instead... 6 players like this post! I love the idea of raffle studs! And older raffle lionesses on closed accounts being revived, that would be fun – maybe implemented as part of the November event? Since that has to do with fossils / reviving dead things, kinda 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I really like the idea of the raffle lionesses being released into explore to potentially allow for more of their markings to make their way into the game. As well as some genetic diversity so to speak. They would still be very difficult to get, I would really appreciate some kind of alert or notification if you do get one, that it is a raffle lioness and which one because they can be kind of difficult to figure out. I also really like the idea of having additional raffle lions only for accounts that have rolled over a certain number of times, I feel like it would really encourage more activity and it feels like an accomplishment. Honestly I like all the proposed changes but these two are my favorite. 2 players like this post! Like? |

I think chased ncl raffle lionesses is a terrible idea. It would make them super easy to get and would tank the rarity of the lioness severely. I do like the idea of the raffle studs for breeding, like the August studs. Adding the ability to reward more active players with multiple entries (once daily) seems like a good idea and those who have rolled over 365 times would also be interesting (which I'm not there but I think rewarding with a higher quality lioness would encourage people to roll over more frequently). Best idea is #5. Raffle lionesses on dead accounts should be revived. Maybe those on dead accounts could be released via explore like an NCL rather than re-raffling off. 4 players like this post! I think raffle studs and raffle lioness would be a great duo, but not in the same week. Maybe have the raffle lions released then the next week the stud along with a different lioness, so there will always be two raffle lion. Example: (To start it continue with 1 RL) Week1: RL 1 Week2: RL 2, stud 1 (version of last week RL) week3: RL 3, Stud 2 I think studs should be like wolvden studs where 50 ppl can breed to the stud within the week or whatever. So that the raffle lioness her self full look can be rare to the winner and in general but the stud exclusive for getting new traits/marks out. Not for cloning so ochre powder imo shouldn’t be allowed neither should DUs, only ur basic breeding items like: buffies, opal saltlick, rock salt, ochre gnaw/saltlick. I’m against the NLC way bc it would ruin the market, if it was an exact replicate — 365 RL I think this is great if it would be celestial bases and only One, every quarter (4months) and it could be either a stud or raffle lioness, never both but the base be a celestial/july bred only base. Or OR HEAR ME OUT.. start putting marks in slots 11-20 instead of 1-10 for 365 RLs but it’s be your usually bases picked 2 players like this post! Like? Okay! Here are my thoughts!! 1. Re-releasing RL copies of ones on closed/banned accounts?? Incredible, I love it so much! 2. I personally don't care much about raffle Studs HOWEVER I know a lot of players would probably love that for the new marks yall release with the RLs! Especially for their breeding projects. 3. I don't think raffle Studs should replace RLs. 4. I love the idea of having something for people who roll every day. Up until the jag quest I rolled over my main account for 3 years straight and it would be super cool to implement something that gives a reward for that! I'm sad I don't have my streak (jag boost failed anyways D:) but still, super dope I love it! I get where people think it excludes newbies but like I've spent years of my life here and having something to get like that is awesome. It shouldn't not happen because a newbie is sad. Not in mean way but I'm so serious lol All in all, I'd love a higher chance of getting an RL. I have always thought it would be amazing to win one and since 2015 (with a few periods of hiatus) I haven't gotten one. And while I'm not mad at it by any means because I understand, you guys implementing something to up those chances would be so so fun and exciting so thank you for your hard work and brainstorming!! <3 0 players like this post! @Elk (#77238): The 365+ rollovers requirement if raffle studs are implemented would actually be for impressing the raffle lioness, not the stud! The raffle stud would be able to be entered by anyone, regardless of rollover count. Another thing I wanted to clarify, and I will add this in the news post as well, is that each raffle lioness comes with the exact same personality: Nurturing (Good). NCLs are generated with Kind, Neutral, and Snarky personalities, so a lioness being Good-posed would be a tip right off the bat that she's not a standard NCL. 8 players like this post! Like? |

I'm very glad this issue is finally being addressed, and I hope we see positive action taken as a result. It's clear the current RL system causes a lot of grief, and no longer serves its original purpose of allowing new traits to spread. --- RLs culture currently is very contradictory - a RL is the way in which new traits are introduced and allowed to spread. However, a RL winner is allowed to do whatever they want with their prize, including never spreading its traits. You can't have it both ways. This is why I am 100% on board with Idea 2 The RL winner still receives a lioness worthy of being called a prize. It's still unique. It still has a high quantity of BO traits. It is still their trophy. With idea 2, they are free to own their lioness in whatever way they please, without denying the community new traits. This should hopefully make the experience of winning a RL less... hostile. There can be no arguments about gatekeeping or hoarding with Raffle Studs. The Raffle Stud would be a great addition. We're already relying on RNG to be kind and let the traits pass, at least give them the best chance possible by getting multiple instances into the game, in the hands of multiple people. No one person should have fate of a new trait solely in their hands, they should be for sharing. IF a raffle stud is introduced, I'd actually prefer for it to be identical to the RL. It would make identifying them much easier. I'd also hope that would allow for some flavour text / lore. Make the RL and the RS siblings, she's looking for a new home and big brother is making sure she ends up somewhere decent.... but hey, maybe he gets a little ""distracted"" along the way. --- Regarding recreating clones on closed / banned accounts. I dont think a whole clone should be recreated, rather, I think their traits should be recycled into new RLs per their rarity. It should be about the spread of traits, not about the entire lioness. I would add, I think their should be a minimum Account Standing needed to impress the RL, and a failsafe to remove banned users from raffles before they are drawn. 3 players like this post! Like? I think the biggest issue people face is not being able to get certain traits they like. I don’t like the idea of multiple RLs being distributed and I say this because this would completely crash the RL market. I don’t care for RLs so this would not affect me but if I was a rare RL breeder I would not like this system. I think it’s ok to rerelease RLs that have gone extinct or have been on inactive accounts with no spread. I think that’s completely fair. I’m personally not a fan of the explore idea. I get why some people would like it, personally, does not appeal to me. The biggest solution to spreading traits is as suggested having a select amount of people able to breed to a stud of the raffle lionesses. This would guarantee traits would spread and enough people would be able to do it that it’s very unlikely every person would make it private. For example, the most recent incident people were concerned about the eyes. They didn’t care that the RL was being kept private but that eyes were not being spread. 4 players like this post! Like? |
